To be fair Gaile did say that while we would get to try the elite specs that none of the updates given to them would be in the stress test. She said they have changed things but we were still using the demo weekend numbers and even the demo before that’s version of the map art. (As seen by the Lily of the Elon being updated on their stream and the old version in the stress test).
There’s a sliver of hope Renegade has improvements but I guess we’ll have to wait.
While that’s true, the first time we actually got to use the elite specs in the PvP weekend was about a month before the scheduled PoF launch. I seriously doubt ANet is going to make any substantial changes with less than 30 days before the expansion goes live. I think the best we can hope for is bug fixes and number changes, and while those could certainly help the situation, I doubt it will fix some of the core issues some people have brought up with the Renegade skills.
how about turrets trigger their overcharge as soon as they can, and tk1 reduces their cd by 10% for every swing on them?
I’d be okay with that also. Really anything to make turrets viable as a build option and to make TK1 actually have some purpose.
I feel like maybe the best way to fix turrets is to adjust their traits, and adjust the tool kit 1 skill. If the toolkit skill 1 improved the effectiveness of a turret as well as repaired it, and there were traits for turrets that weren’t total trash, I think it could work. I also think that if an engi decides to go with a build that’s basically all-in on turrets, then they should at least be a viable build option…
I just recently came back to the game, so I’ve been out of it for a while, but it seems to me that Mortar Kit and Grenade Kit really feel like the same kit… Yeah, one is range 900, the other is 1500, but they both have all AOE targeted abilities with a basic damage skill, a chill, a poison, and a blind field skill. But the mortar kit, for whatever reason, takes up the elite slot. Just seems kind of strange to me, but what do I know!
Well, I just recently returned also, so I’m certainly not an expert at rev. However, I can say that while the forums tend to be very gloom and doom, rev seems to be working well enough for me. Like Aomine mentioned, going Hammer in WvW seems to be very effective, and it’s pretty fun. I haven’t really played warrior or guardian as much though, so I can’t really compare the three classes.
Couple gripes with Renegade.
Sevenshot: If the starting portals for the projectiles are placed on uneven terrain or are clipped inside a hill or whatnot, then the projectiles fail to fire, which makes the skill much weaker than if all the projectiles fire everytime.
Kalla Abilities: Using the utilities/heal/ulti, I often received an error message trying to put them down. Sometimes if I have Kalla selected as my legend and I am on a narrow ledge or doing a jumping puzzle, I won’t be able to heal at all because I can’t find a spot to use the skill.
For a specific example, here is a little video clip from the last demo weekend. You can see that I am able to use Spiritcrush and Citadel Bombardment, but then I am unable to place my heal skill at the same location. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rxVCOdUSdM

I’d also point out, even though a lot of people are complaining about Renegade (myself included), you should remember that Revenant isn’t losing anything. If you like their current kit, or you like Herald, or you’re enjoying it right now, then you can continue to use it in PoF. You dont HAVE to play renegade.
Whenever I try to put a renegade skill on even slightly uneven terrain, I get a message saying ‘No valid path to target’. This happens even if the terrain is just slightly uneven. It can still be walkable without needing to jump, but the renegade skills still won’t place correctly. Here’s a video of what I’m talking about:
On Ehmry Bay I can’t get any of the ones in diessa. I got the wayfarer ones by guesting to other servers, but none of them seem to have diessa.
Still broken for me even after trying guesting on 2 other servers in diessa.
A lot of people seem to be running into this. I cant find any in diessa even after guesting to 2 other servers and still not finding anything.

The game update will arrive at sometime today, Pacific Time (which is the time zone in which our development studio is based). We do not have a specific time at which it will go live.
The first event which will occur at a specific time will happen tomorrow, December 15, per the schedule on the website.
Remember: you will have until January 3 to enjoy the content.

Actually, where I’m at, there are no catapults, no event NPCs, nothing. Its just completely gone. What a great way to introduce new players to the game with a free trial… =/
Edit: Okay, new zone is open, and the event was completely skipped. I guess that works… sorta…
Aye, as others have said, very well written Tallman. One other thing that may be worth adding to the Flamethrower section is that Air Blast will actually position your enemy right in the sweet spot for Flame Blast, which can make for some solid control and a burst of damage if timed well.
