Had the pleasure of speaking with one of their officers.

I was dumbfounded that a Guild of this stature is actually out there in this game. I proudly joined, and cannot wait to head into combat—Bad Luck’s Coming.

Returning After Long Break; Few Questions

Hey,

Thanks for taking a moment to view my thread; I have a few questions so I can get back on track faster.

I love to PvP quite a bit, however I don’t want to hinder my team. Where would be the best place to begin gear appropriately for WPvP for example?

Was there a website linking to Guides for my Profession (Guardian)?

Were there a list of realms where PvP is more focused than others?

Thanks again, and your replies are more than appreciated.

Now, a bit more seriously, you are simply a genius.
I want, no wait, i freaky NEED to see it implemented.
Do it right ArenaNet and this will be greatest PvP game map ever made.

Haha, you’re making me blush! :P

On another note; do any of you have other ideas of things to implement or discuss what’s already been said? That or more praising feedback. :P

Additional Ideas/Thoughts:

I don’t have too many at this moment because I’ve written quite a bit, but there’s one thing I keep thinking about.

When you fight another player, and health is brought low, you do not leave combat for 30 seconds (or so). Therefore it’s a little more balanced so you don’t have one player owning everyone regenerating his health near instantly after he kills a player. Plus the fact he can’t simply disappear with only a corpse left behind. His combat movement reduced speed remains for the 30 seconds as well.

Thanks for reading guys, and I hope this wasn’t too long. My mind exploded with ideas just from a dream I had, and personally would love to see something totally innovative like this. Sure it has aspects from other games, but I believe I meshed them together in a unique fashion.

Please leave feedback, it would be more than appreciated.

The Combat Encounters:

When you come across a player in your line of vision; if you’re in a team setup, your teammates can see it on their minimap until the entity has been lost. This can promote people separating in small areas to cover it, or become bait to attract players for an ambush.

When a player has killed another one, the game will announce; “Yujiza has killed Jacooza”, and ping the player’s death location. Instantly players will be attracted to head your way and perhaps finish you off, or simply avoid that area all together. When you kill a player, you will gain a small buff that lasts for the rest of the game on your overall stats. Not significant enough to solo the world, but after a few kills; people will start to think about teaming up against you. I’m not sure on the specifics on how you’d look with a buff counter, but the game will notify all the other players.

Players cannot team up together (unless it’s a team death match) where they cannot hurt each other, but when they walk near each other; they can talk out a truce briefly (via /s, /y is not enabled). Of course we’re going to have players on Skype (or what have you) with each other sometimes so if other players pick up on that, it’s easy to team up and backstab each other. Best way is to have random queues with player’s gear levels unless they want to team up and queue as a team.

When you die, you have 30 seconds before you’re removed from the game. During those 30 seconds if you’re in a FFA game, you can announce only one sentence to the rest of the players which your killer cannot see; “It’s a Charr Guardian who uses GreatSword heading towards the Log Camp”. In a team game you cannot give your last breath however your teammates can rush to you and revive you. Risky business though because your team can end up going down with you.

The Scoring/Points:

Whoever wins gets the most points of course, but at the same time games like this may take a long time. So I thought the point system can be along the lines of a few specifics roughly. How many players/teams died before you did, how much distance you traveled (while not on road), and how much time you’ve lasted.

For example; I’m the fourth one to die, so I get a flat 400 points (Karma?). I however lasted for 20 minutes, and traveled 150 yards. Then basing on multipliers you’re awarded for your time and effort. What some may argue that because they’re forced to move for more points they can’t really hide. Therefore winning gives you a much larger base reward. It will give a bit of strategic aspects, but not blissfully camping for hours and racking up points just to barely participate in the game.

The Map:

In the Shape of a Ring (circle or what have you) so it forces players to travel clockwise or counter clock wise. However, as I mentioned it’s a stealth map so lots of trees, bushes, things to hide in, and a open road (“What?” lol). This map doesn’t have to be a perfect doughnut type circle, but as long as it’s connected on each end making players wanting to travel in fewer random directions.

This map has Snow, lots and lots of snow. If I can explain well enough, the map is like a mountain with a frozen river (out of bounds area) surrounding it. It has a few cliffs, things to drop down like mountain ridges and so on. The main part is there are three major levels to the mountain. The Forest, the Road, and the Top. The Forest is the lowest level of the mountain, the Road in the middle, and of course the Top is the Top. I’ll explain each level in a little more detail.

The Forest

As you already know, this map is going to be stealthy, so this is where it is. While in the Forest, there are tons of things to hide and run through. Whether it be trees, bushes, mountain ridges, little cabins—whatever it may be; you cannot see very far ahead of you. I underlined it to make sure that this is not forgotten. This area is where players will spawn (in even distances of course) when the game begins.

The Road

This area of the map is completely open therefore your vision is much farther and anyone on the road can see you as well in the distance. Before reaching the road from the forest, there is very steep thick snow causing you to run a slower. That’s because I don’t want players to think the first place to go is the road if they get spotted. They either hide through the forest, or fight.

Anyway, why the road? To travel faster. While on the road, you gain an unstackable speed buff to travel around the map faster. Of course as I mentioned, you’re in a wide open space and easily spotted. When you return back into the forest you are not slowed because you’re traveling down the steep hill; not up. The primary goal is to get to tracked down players from the top which I’ll explain next.

The Top

This is where people will want to go when the game becomes longer with few players/teams remaining. There is a huge advantage for being up there, but a huge risk as well. You do not want to abuse this area as it will get you killed.

While you begin entering the top side of the map; there are heavy amounts of snow all the way to the tip slowing you down (perhaps greatly). When you reach the tip, your map will literally put a ping point on every single player’s/team’s location, and that will remain on your map for three minutes (or less if map is small) from where they were last spotted (before they continued moving). However, if you stay at the top, you can see the dotted lines of which directions the players were going in for a maximum of 30 seconds. With such a great advantage, you gotta pay the price.

The price you pay is the game will notify everyone; “Yujiza has reached the top and has scouted you”. From that point on, everyone else map will have a ping of your exact movements until you reach the road. Doing this will cause players/teams attempt to surround you so it’s risky business. Generally what you would want to do is simply run to the top; get the ping and get out. If the game has few players, then the 30 second watch will be quite useful so you’re not traveling around forever trying to find each other. The road has more use at this point for travel because you’re going to want to reach the player/team you spotted.

Oh, and of course this map will be named for each section for players to know where to head without getting too lost. That, or it’s “N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW” (mind asploads)!

The Scenario:

The type of Battleground I have in mind would be a stealthy—survival type. I don’t have a name yet, but something along the lines of Survival of the Fittest, or Ring of Snow, or Still Snowy Winds (I don’t know, ha!).

Depending on what the scale of the map; this is can go from at least 7 to maybe 21 players in this battleground. Notice something? An odd number will promote my next rule. It’s a full fledged Death Match Free For All, or possibly teams of three (9, 15, 21 players), leaving one player/team on top of them all. Once you’re dead, you’re removed from the battleground. Whoever is the last one/team standing wins.

Hello fellow residence of Tyria,

Before I begin, I want to mention that thoughts and ideas may be thrown around a little loosely. Don’t feel shy to perhaps add to what I say, change, or discuss what’s already been said. I randomly had a dream, and for some reason Guild Wars 2 was a part of it. I was thrilled with the amount of thoughts go through my mind from this dream I had, and I hope I get positive feedback.

Returning Guardian Player, few questions!

in Guardian

Posted by: Yujiza.1026

Yujiza.1026

Hey,

I’m a Charr Guardian, returning to Tyria after a long break with questions!

Before I continue, I will quickly note I haven’t gotten a character to level 80 yet, and my Guardian is level 69 currently. Do note I love to PvP with all scenarios. Whether it be a team fight in WvW, or one on one encounter in a battleground—love it all!

Anyway; enough of my rambling; on with the questions!

- Why did Greatsword’s attack binds change, or am I seeing things?
- What are the Guardian’s worst/best weapon combos?
- What are they weak/strong against?
- Is there a website or forum where I can check out strong builds with information?
- Like the question above, is there armor sets I should aim for first to maximize performance?
- I hear about Karma farming, was there anything I should note that’s optimal for Guardians?
________

Thanks for taking a moment to read these questions, and I understand a slight frustration towards the cliche “what is the best, and only the very very best” for any class. Unfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity to play as much as many who have been level 80 for quite some time.

I ask these questions so I catch up a little more quickly, and step up my game to make sure I’m not hindering my allies. I tend to have a high aptitude for these kind of things but any information would be extremely appreciated.

Thank you once again,

~ Yujiza

In my opinion: this game is simply not addictive

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Yujiza.1026

Yujiza.1026

I think this is going to be a long post, so here it goes.

First to say ArenaNet has failed—that’s a very subjective comment. Ending a sentence on that further doesn’t help the thread, and shows trolling potential. Lastly on the topic, I’m sure the Devs love reading positive constructive thoughts to perhaps improve their game rather than useless whine-like bickering posts.

Now that I got that out of my system, there are many things I wish to say for such topic. I will admit however; I played Guild Wars 1, and quit it for World of Warcraft (don’t hiss at me yet!). Anyway, on with the show.

The addictive factor I find is also leaning towards subjective. I can show an avid FPS player to this game (MMO in general) for example, and he/she can either hate it or like it. If he/she ends up liking it, I guarantee you’ll find them returning to their FPS to keep up. Maybe it’s a poor example, but that doesn’t mean this game isn’t addictive in it’s own way. Subjective yes? – what do you think?

I see the word reward(ing) being tossed a lot here loosely. I say this game is rewarding first hand, and here’s why. In other MMO’s, you gain skills/spells as you level up, which makes long grinding levels as you progress feel more rewarding. At times it can feel extremely slow in other MMO’s, especially when you reach higher levels, but when you keep your eye on a new skill/ability; you forget you’ve been grinding for hours (sometimes).

On the other side of things, this game reverses those rolls. When I hit level 10, I managed to find every weapon type/combination, and I knew this is what I had to work with (aside from 7-8-9-0 skills). A bit of trial and error to find the class I feel would best suit my play style, but when I found it; I became more addicted to playing. Before I lose my train of thought—this game presents where you can envision how your profession (class) will pan out throughout the game off that bat, therefore generously gives you experience points for everything you do to reach higher content faster. You don’t have to sit there grinding for hours grown to regret that your class which finally has a full bar(s) of abilities turning out not to be your playing style. You can even test out your profession (class) at level 2 in PvP.. but you get the idea.

To conclude this, we all know another expansion for a specific MMO is coming out very soon, and honestly I’ve lost the drive to play it. I know that I will have to go through extensive grinding to get to the “fun” part.

Guardian PvP Trait Specs?

Posted by: Yujiza.1026

Yujiza.1026

Hey,

Now that I’ve hit level 60, I quickly picked up the manual, and all my traits are reset.

I was generally going with the Zeal, Valor, and Honor traits, but after reading around I’m seeing different opinions, theorycrafting, etcetera.

So I’m here, looking at my empty traits feeling compelled to make a thread and ask to perhaps get direct responses. A few quick notes though; I’m in love with Greatsword / 1H Sword+Torch -or- Greatsword / Mace+Relic -or- Greatsword / Scepter+Shield.

You can see the pattern, and hope that helps if you happen to leave a build for me.

Thank you very much! :)

Small Suggestion; Keybind for sound/music?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Yujiza.1026

Yujiza.1026

Heyo fellas,

I’ve been looking on here to see if someone has said the same thing I’m about to suggest. Since I can’t seem to find any topics, I may as well make this short and sweet.

SUGGESTION:

Please make a keybind that can be changed on demand to enable/disable Sound Effects and/or Music. Although I don’t mind, it’s a bit annoying to have to open up the options all the time.

Why? Sometimes I have been leveling in the same zone for a while, and wish to listen to my music, but when I join a new zone or continue with my personal story, I like to pause my own personally music and put GW2 music back on. Sometimes it get’s very hectic in game, and someone randomly calls me on skype; disabling sound effects quickly so I can quickly get to the call quicker.

Thanks, and let me know if you guys agree! :)

As an added note, what generally happens when a graphic card overheats; the graphics in game will start to “tear” up as one may say, and your screen with go black. Generally it’s the CPU that overheats which causes the computer to shut off so suddenly.

The reason why it may flicker more is because of the frequency.

*What’s your frame limiter and refresh rate?

If yes/not, play around with them a little bit. Don’t worry, it wont have a direct negative effect, it may help your situation.

As for the video drivers, did you have another graphics card in the computer at one point before this one? Has it been recent?

Yujiza.1026

Hey Ivan again, thanks for getting back so quickly.

Your ram is fine, graphics too although may fall a tiny bit short if you’re putting everything to “high” in Graphic Options for example.

However, your Intel 1.73ghz is where you fall short.

System requirements for Guild Wars 2:
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better
Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3 OR AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256 MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
25 GB available HDD space
Broadband Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse

Even though your computer can turboboost above the requirement, turboboosting for long periods of time, plus depending on where you are in game (more graphic intensive than other areas), it can cause it to overheat.

CPU generally has a heat it can reach before it automatically shuts off. For fun, you can download something called “Core Temp” (program I use, yes it’s safe), and monitor it as you play the game.

Good luck to you. I hope I’m simply wrong and uneducated about this when it can be a simple error from Guild Wars 2 client itself otherwise you can do is what I recommended in the first post I left here.

Let me know if you figure out any other information.

Yujiza.1026

Yo Serbius,

Although I’m not doubting your knowledge, the easiest thing for some people to forget is their power supply for graphic cards they pick up.

A lot of new graphic cards, especially ones with OC features/profiles suck up a lot of juice, especially in heavier graphic intensive games like this one.

Now that’s been said, which drivers did you install? Did you attempt to install the ones that came w/ a CD in your box, then update through http://www.amd.com?

Sometimes although drivers are installed, and updated; old profiles can linger around and have a negative effect on your graphics card causing errors, or things as you explained.

Let me know, I perhaps have a solution for you, otherwise good luck!

Yujiza.1026

Hey Ivan,

You can thank your computer for saving itself!

When a computer begins to overheat a lot, rather than let it cook itself to death; it shuts down automatically. It’s quite uncommon for a computer to shut itself off without warning for any other reason besides that one.

Anyway, you mentioned your temperatures are fine, which ones specifically?

GPU and/or CPU?

If you list some PC specs for us to look at, we can perhaps assist you further. If you’re not sure how to see it, click the windows key; type “dxdiag” (without quotations) in your search bar. Copy that info down. :)

Otherwise, the only thing I can recommend is in the Graphic options, lower the shadow effects, and turn off Anti-Aliasing.

Good luck! :D

Yujiza.1026

Yo UndeadCreepshow (love the name)!

To begin, like many games; especially in the past; the flickering is caused by your monitor switching resolutions set in your game options, and Direct X kicking in. Depending on your graphics card whether it’d be on board, or not; it may have difficulties switching because the amount of memory available on it to run a game like this.

On another note, Windowed Mode is introduced for people with more powerful machines, and although may be harder on your computer; it’s quicker for alt tabbing and swapping between the game faster.

If you’re attempting to avoid the flicker effect, and switching it to windowed mode; if the computer isn’t too powerful—you may experience performance issues (lag, etcetera).

Now that information is out of the way, which graphics card did you have?

Did you download the latest driver, and restart the computer?

Do you have other monitors and/or applications running in the background?

Edit:

Hey bud! :D

That computer should be fine!

It may not be top end, but if you choose “best performance” on the Graphic Options in game, I find this game does a good job of choosing what’s best—keeping you smooth as silk.

I wanted to ask about the AMD comment however. I built my computer, and everything inside is AMD (Motherboard, CPU, Graphics), and Asus. As I look at my 8 cores—multithreading this game, they all remain less than 30% usage, and my graphics have zero problems. With an AMD computer not as powerful, I have high doubts it would be a problem.

Congratulations on your free computer BCDragon, see you in game. :D

Why not have a mount and more armour stats?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Yujiza.1026

Yujiza.1026

Hey!

To get the easy question out of the way; the person who posted a few above sums it up.

We don’t really need Spirit because there’s no mana so to speak. There are traits (talents) that can lower the cooldown or recharge times.

As for the mounts thing, at times I feel they’d be a nice addition, but that’s because what I’m used to. I’m not going to name other games, but I feel mounts aren’t necessary on this game for how the leveling (questing?) process works. What we’re used to is a large amount of running back and forth in huge vast zones with nothing but monsters between our goals to finish. This game, you just move from place to place and talking to NPCs on your own volition.

A quick fix would be grabbing some movement increase abilities until you knew you’d be in one hell of a fight!

SUGGESTION:

When you have city clothing on, because your armor would be lighter (figuratively), you have a higher moment speed. Add a customizable keybind so players can switch between with ease.

This idea is pushing it but allow city clothing for anywhere in the world and players have to choose between speed, or survivability. Just a thought.
