Greatsword placing and scaling for Asura is something which annoys me on a regular basis, but if they were moved further up to a more natural position then those with long ears would probably have clipping issues with the hilt.
Honestly I don’t mind how they’re placed, what is annoying though is how some of them half in size when you sheath them. I know they can’t really work around shrinking them down, but for some swords the jump in scale is huge.

which class are you getting at 1 vs 1 at pvp battlegrounds ? I know how to play my engineer : 30 trait points to firearms -30 trait points to elixir – 10 trait points to explosive.
I’m not going to quote the whole thing because frankly I found it too difficult to read, but you titled the thread suggesting engineers are underpowered in both PVE and PVP. Engineers are all around fine. They suck just as badly in explorable dungeons as every other class. The whole “kite or die” philosophy of GW2 dungeons needs some work, that is the issue, not the classes. Engineer is balanced, aside a few tweaks which may be needed here and there.
If you’re looking for a zerg proof class then good luck with that. However, 2v1 isn’t always a loss. Obviously this will depend on your build and the skill level/synergy of your opponents, but if you have a solid rifle build then there are many 2v1 situations you can dominate.
And no, there are no anti classes but the engineer is formidable against every class. If you know the class you are up against well enough to have a rough guess at their build, you can come up with a way to counter them.
There are a couple of classes such as mesmer (when played correctly) which can give you a serious run for your money, but if you know the engineer class and have a well rounded build then there is no profession which is particularly difficult to deal with in a 1v1 situation.
On the other hand our knockbacks and wide selection of elixirs make us a nightmare to deal with from the perspective of certain other classes. Underpowered? I don’t think so. In fact many other professions claim we are actually overpowered because they spent most of a fight just trying to get back on their feet.
Obviously there are certain situations such as being stunned or out of endurance and then hit by warrior or thief burst which never end well, but this goes for all classes.
If you’re feeling underpowered all I can suggest is rethinking your build. Engineer is a class which rewards you for being creative. If you just skim through the traits and go for an obvious generic build you might not perform as great as you expect, but if go for a more unorthodox route you can really be a pain to deal with.
A well built Engineer is a very formidable class in all situations.

Engineer is a really well done class. The only things I would complain about is I’d like a bit more range without having to waste a trait on it.
If you are whining about the profession being underpowered then you aren’t playing it properly. We don’t have what I’d call burst, but our damage and survivability certainly isn’t low.
I’ve had no issues in PVE as of yet and with a dual pistols build I do great in PVP. I’m able to take on any class 1v1 with the occasional mesmer outplaying me, and in that situation it purely comes down to the opposing player choosing clever tactics. Our weapons could use a very slight damage boost or radius increase on attacks like jump shot, but that aside anet have done a great job with the class.
If you feel underpowered you simply aren’t playing the class properly and need to give it a bit more time to get a true feel for it, or the class just isn’t your type of play style if you’re used to classes with a ridiculous amount of burst.
Be trixy and outsmart your opponent by using all of your utilities to their full potential and you will be victorious.
