While trying to remember all holiday events that were in the original Guild Wars, I was hit with the inspiration for a new holiday event, a simple one, but one that will only happen once in the game…
Something related to the Mayan end of the world date (12/21/12) on the day before, have Hylek doomsayers in the major cities (since the Hylek are based on Aztec/Mayan culture) telling about the end of Tyria! and then on 12/21/12 have a giant frog (not Hylek) that shows up in random zones and just destroys everything and everyone it sees. Make it shoot death beams or something. and for the little descriptor under its name, have it say like “You better run!” or “abandon all hope”.
Silly idea, might be a pain to players, but would be funny, make a special achievement like, “survived the end of the world”
I know nothing about any programming, much less video game programming, but it seems like it would be a fairly simple thing to do, but what do I know! xD
from my server, yes, I can talk to the people in my guild even though it is based off another server, and I’ve got friends I’ve made in it, but I’m playing on a server with another friend, who is in another guild, so I’m trying to get some answers before I handle what I decide to do, stay on my server with my friend, or move to the server the guild I am in is on, but leaving my friend who I play with.
transfer to my guild’s server to be able to contribute to them, cause I have friends in it, but leave my one good friend on my current home server, and hope that guesting is implemented soon, if at all, and that it works in a way that I can play with my friend in the same way that I do now being on the same server.
—or—
stay on my current server with friend, but be useless to a guild that again, I have friends in, and hope that the way cross server members effect a guild change.
I’m gonna have to choose one way or another, but I don’t have the info I need to make a decision one way or another.

Is there any reason for me to stay in my guild that based in another server? since they don’t benefit from any influence I gain, and I don’t get any benefit from being in that guild, is this gonna change, or is the whole ability to be in a guild that’s on another server just going to remain a social thing?
I’m trying to decide If I want to go to that server, and abandon my good friend on my current server until guesting becomes implemented, or stay on my server and find a new guild…
I’d really appreciate some answers.

I do see your point Cirth about people abusing the ability to join large guilds that aren’t even on their server, but allowing the ability to be in guilds that aren’t on your server if they intend to take it away, especially when they are gonna do guesting, just doesn’t seem logical, they seem live they’ve tried hard to make it a very social game, so to pull that rug out from all the people like myself that are part of multi-server guilds seems a bit counter-productive.
So I’m hoping that this will change change when guesting comes around, I’m just trying to see if anyone knew any definite details about it one way or another. :\
Maybe what they could do is make it so someone on a different server than that of the guilds home server, has to contribute a certain amount of influence to a guild to start gaining the benefits of being in it, I would be cool with that.
Does anyone, especially and ANet person know if anything will be changed about how guild bonuses work cross server, I’m caught between a rock and a hard place, I’m on a server with a good friend of mine, but another friend contacted me about joining their guild, only to find out it’s on another server, I joined, but stayed on my server with my friend, and while talking to guild leader I asked if we have upgraded anything, he says a lot of things, but none of it shows for me, so I looked it up, only to find that benefits of guilds do not cross servers.
Will this be changed? cause I like this guild, but I dont want to abandon my friend on my server, and our guild has a quite a few members who are on different servers. I Told the guild leader I would look into it, so… here I am!

As a side note, my friend who I’m on the server with is co-guild leader for her other close friend’s guild, so she wont change servers. Like I said…. rock and a hard place. If this weren’t the case we’d have both transferred by now.
