Yeah I’ve not had your problem either. If you’re referring more about dungeon parties, I understand some hesitation at recruiting ‘green rangers’. I play a ranger and hesitate. Rangers are not tanks nor aoe specialists. But their aoe heal is incredibly useful for condition removal and with proper pet management can kite large groups. If you know what your doing and a party still won’t accept you on the simple fact that your a Ranger, their fools. =D

If your good at PvP, you may still be terrible at WvW. With larger servers like Jade,SOS etc, you’re going to experience something entirely different than on a lesser populated server. A good thing to check into is a servers “Oceanic coverage”. What I mean by this is players from different time zones. Strong WvW servers have 24/7 coverage, and can compete at all times. So if you work odd hours, or do your gaming after Prime Time (when most people are on), you’ll be able to get on and have organized competitive play.

I would recommend those servers if your just starting out. Smaller servers can be a bit more ‘elite’, and though unable to compete with cross coverage can offer superior small scale play. I find this to be the most fun, and if you got the skills you can do a lot. Hooking up with a good WvW guild is important too. Do your research and see what best suits you’re style.

Yeah there’s no ganging up on ioj mentality in DR. Never was that I am aware of. We’ve got our hands full with EB. Hopefully with a little combined effort, we can hold back the tide of green on all sides Be nice to see more balance this time around. Either way, you can count on DR putting up a fight.

I’ve been running this build since the patch and have had a lot of success. Maximizing condition damage really makes entangle formidable now, coupled with the bleeds from flanking and a burst takes down most players for me. I even had success in a 1v3 match up recently. Fun build. Thanks for sharing it!

No forum is complete without Mighteous shelling it with his dictionary of make believe words and alter (not to mention false) ego. The extreme you’ve gone to maifest it here indicates a number of personality disorders, but if I were a betting man I’d wager inferiority complex is among them (I love the irony there). It’s one thing to role play, it’s quite another to adopt that role outside it’s arena of play. This is not good my friend, I recommend therapy.

But you do often bring a smile to my face. Not many people are as full of themselves as you are, and it’s strangely refreshing to witness it sometimes. You would make a great patient at our university. Bet that Mighteous ego isn’t backed by a Mighteous psyche, eh?

As for you smilingknight, who are now named and exposed thanks to another brilliant revelation concerning post logs from Brighteous, don’t get mad at you’re former teammates for having a bit of animosity towards you. Rather their claims are true or not, leaving a server voluntarily is frowned upon unless the circumstances are extreme. More so if you lead a guild, and even more so if you take that guild with you. Devona experienced similiar treachery not to long ago, and it’s cancerous to the entire population. You have you’re reasons, so stand by them. If you are a good leader, then you’re guild will stand with you. If you are a good player, Devona will stand with you. Not sure how long you’ve been with us, or how long you’re going to be if the community doesn’t suit you, but hopefully you’re contribution will be positive. And since we here in Devona are the most attractive people on Anet, hopefully you look good in dead. Cause that’s what we wear most of the time.

On a side note, Sumwun you made some good points about our leadership. Classic issue. So what are you doing about it?

To Kaineng; So what you’re saying is we have a disgruntled GL running amuck in DR? Well, that describes the majority of guilds here in DR, so get over it. If you’re attitude is to ‘crush’ Devona everytime this cat is on, great! We think so highly of the Kaineng leadership here in Devona. And you guys never disappoint. Classy!

To Devona OP; Hey brah, it’s DR. Get used to it. If you want good sportsmanship you for one are playing the wrong game. Secondly, kittening about it here isn’t going to help. And lastly, if you’re a turn coat, this may not be the best place to turn to. We here in Devona value our gameplay experience, and that experience is often a challenging one in WvW. But we have fun, and give it our all most of the time. Just don’t expect to much, or you’re going to be disappointed.

OP, you make great points. I just logged on today and saw the nerf, 40 milliseconds or what not. I’m amazed at the out cry over this! It’s so not a significant enough nerf to be calling out Devs and ‘threatening’ to shelve your character! Maybe you lose ONE bleed stack, or take 4 seconds longer to kill a foe… It’s not a class killer. Stop crying.

I did laugh at the poster who tried to comment on the name, saying the word Range was in the name so the class needed more range damage… that’s the kind of garbage that makes these forums ridicouls sometimes guys!

But I just wanted to say I still love the Ranger class as well, and it would take alot for me not to. Alot more than say 40 milliseconds, or bugs that I didn’t even know about until I came here. Something pretty special about stalking a target, setting a trap in a choke point, sending in my tamed man eating bear to maul a foe, calling him back to lead the poor beast into a pit of vipers (pffft!), and finishing with a savage whirlwind of axe and blade that wreaks HAVOC on anything close enough to be caught up in that storm of death. And worst case, it’s so beaten down for the moment that another attack or maul will end the fight just a gracefully. Get some.

Theres so many different ways to enjoy the Ranger class than some colorless approach to DPS. It’s the Adventurer class! The Jack-of-All trades but master of none class! Take your WoW behind back to the land of Kung Fu Panda Bear rip offs, this game is making a stand for something more! And if you can’t dig it, don’t play! Ain’t no one gonna miss ya!

Finally broke down and bought the Krytan skin for my Ranger. It just looks so dang awesome! XD

Impressive Kaineng. That was about an hour after I hit the rack. Just missed you guys. Nice job on taking that Keep too, that must have been one happy kitten train!

Tonight was just a blast for me, and judging by map chatter nearly everyone else in Devona. So many close calls, ninja’d Askalonian Bay’s Kaineng x), and clever tactics.

Borlis had some good moments. Particularly the two Ballistas setup outside A-Bay that provided great support by fire, and finally the close range catapult that was so devastating.

EB was by far my favorite of the fields tonight, though every map saw some good action on all accounts.

Good times boys and girls, good times. Fubuki I’ll be interested to see if you put another video together. Lots of good material out there tonight!

Thank you Sundial, for telling me specifically what you think about my demeanor. I do considered myself a sensitive man, and cuddly. But with big muscles cuddly, cause I can say that on the internet and not be disproven. But while you sit in your high chair Milady, take pause and consider who’s back you rest your feet on. They may not care what you think.

Thank you Hadan, and I am aware of this. The trend here isn’t good for you guys though. And with so much arrogance coming from posters, it’s hard not to generalize. Though I am glad you are different, and you take a stand against that sort of behavior. We have players that do it here in Devona too. You don’t see it as much simply for lack of opportunity I assure you.

I’m with DR, not Kaineng, just clarifying that. And maybe I’m too old skool, but what does TLDR mean Sundial, and why is that such an accomplishment? I’m sure if you read that long post, which is long I admit, you’ll see it was in good spirit and with humor. But read it first.

Reading some of these posts… Just funny I guess. In a sad, cynical sort of way.
Just came back from the front in eternal. Thought I would share something. There was a Guardian outside Devonas spawn point for a bit that displayed some really disgusting behavior. A Borlis pass individual, if you can believe that. Anyway, this Guardian single handedly routed several of our players. I was playing one of my lower level characters at the time, and wasn’t surpised a level 80 Guardian defeated me. So, I dusted myself off, repaired the gear, and headed out on an alternate route.
Well, she met me again. And slaughtered my Ranger and my poor bear Honey. After dancing on my limp body and sitting on my still in shock face, I decided Honey desereved better. Time to go get the level 80 warrior, and teach this rude player a lesson.
Well, I arrive in my shining armor and cast a steely gaze in the direction of poor Honey’s demise. For Great Justice, I set out to claim the head of this philistine. But, after a brief struggle, was again routed.
I was shocked. I couldn’t BELIEVE what had just happened. So I tried again, to no avail. Determined to get my revenge for Honey, I enlisted the aid of another 80, a necromancer representing one of our larger guilds. I thought maybe with a little support magic, I could take her. Routed.
Finally I broke down and sent out a help message to some folks standing around the spawn point, waiting for another XP train to commence (Thats what it’s come to folks, XP trains… sad). A group of about five players, including 80’s and low 70s, were finally able though with great effort push back this wench of havok. And just before she fell in full retreat to her castle, an arrow found its mark and fell the creature. Waiting for her to expell her Guardian save spell, I rushed in and claimed the victory! For Honey!
Needless to say, she came back. And preyed upon our weaker players. Constantly taunting, dancing over bodies, sitting at the front gate, sleeping in eye sight… It was just unacceptable. I continued to try to rally help to discourage this harbinger of frustration from boasting like a 12 year old, but it was the same bitter defeat I’d tasted so many times before. And without Honey to avenge, I found no comfort in feeding her sadistic appetite.
I wandered out a bit and witnessed a large warband of Kaineng sieging the garrison she’d been taking refuge in. Talking 20 or so players, all in zerg mode. She managed a full retreat through this crowd back to the castle, and with a handful (like maybe 3) of others kitten the entire party.
This is ridicouls. You don’t hide behind orbs, or use them as an excuse. I say don’t hide behind you’re false sense of humility, or use arrogance as a method of ‘encouragement’, as you call it.

Hahaaa! Well, I will say that when I’m present I discourage confrontations with your server. Reason being is it wouldn’t benefit us. I’ve had conversations with other GLs who’ve suggested an alliance of our two servers. We can’t all agree, but I for one would be open to negotiations… And no, we won’t assassinate all you’re leaders once we have them all in one place >_>

You’re arrogance gives you, and the guild you represent, a black eye with me and hopefully anyone else who read your post. Quite honestly it makes me wonder if you’re even old enough to be playing, or if you’re some WoW kid polluting our servers like so many others. You would be stripped of office and command if you were one of mine.

I am with Devona’s Rest, and am a Commander of a growing guild there, the United Devona Front. Many of our issues have been listed by previous posters, but I will note some of them from first hand experience on the battlefield.

DR is a great server and has a talented community. As stated, we are under populated when compared to a larger server like Borlis Pass. Despite this, I have been apart of several stalemates with Borlis Pass in open field fighting that has lasted an hour or more. Thats notable. We have also out manuevered our rivals and taken key positions consistantly, though with great effort. Our problem is holding them. Like a remote Terran outpost on Charr, we can only hold out against the zerging onslaught for so long. I am dang proud of our efforts though, and have witnessed numerous victories in the face of overwhelming odds. There is no greater feeling in WvWvW.

Another issue we face is the Orbs. Those are gone usually within the first few hours of a reset, and guess who has all three. Thats an additional 150 points to each stat Borlis pass gains, per player. So you add the numbers, then add the bonus, and its easy to see why DR is struggling.

I am completely confident that were we put to scale with any server, including our current rival Kaineng, without the intervention of a giant like Borlis Pass, we would succeed. Our experience is unrivaled when it comes to a smaller theater of war, perhaps ONLY by Kaineng. We have been pushed into a crucible thats forced us to communicate and work together in a way I would wager few other servers have. However since this is not going to happen, our second front (or third) is morale. Nobody wants to play a game they are always going to lose, no matter the effort they place into winning. I understand that, and try to encourage our players to continue to participate in WvWvW. But many are growing disinterested. Our guilds have stepped up and increased recruiting efforts to give people a sense of belonging and comradere, but we can’t tell them the sky is blue if it’s green. Borlis Pass green.

Anyway, that’s a glimpse into Devona’s Rest. We are a proud server, and even prouder people representing our guilds. Our ability to win is only capped by our ability to compete on an equal scale, and even on our current one we still find victories that would make any player proud.
