Improving "WellofPower"and"SpectralWall"?

Well of Power could honestly be fantastic just with a cooldown reduction and no other changes. It’s all right as-is.

Spectral Wall is best when you’re a melee build and just kite through it while you’re fighting. Very niche use, though, and could use some tweaks. Again, reducing the cooldown would do wonders for the skill.

My thoughts on reducing the skills’ cooldowns were there yes… but Anet has already tried that with both skills. I’m not sure if they want to reduce it any further than what they did already.

Out of these suggestions or your own, what would be the best way to improve these two Skills for more use in any game type? These are skills used in very few builds, and ANet has been making more adjustments to improve most skills that haven’t been touched in a while. So I thought I’d throw in my own ideas to see which ones the majority thinks are the most appropriate change and why.

(Note: I can’t make this into a Poll topic, so I’m just going to see what people think of these suggestions in the comments. Also remember these are my opinions based off of 2 years of Necro play in all game types, so I’ve kept that experience in mind as I was writing this.)

Well of Power
I know there are some that like this skill, myself included. However I have seen this skill being very underused compared to others, let alone Well skills. I can also understand why that is. So I have a few suggestions on how to make this skill hold more value for group fights, since that appears to be the nature of this skill.

  1. Converts up to 4 conditions on allies into boons as they first enter the field. Pulses Stability.
  2. Converts up to 4 conditions on allies into boons as they first enter the field. Allies within the well syphon health with each attack.
  3. Converts up to 4 conditions on allies into boons as they first enter the field. Pulses damage and Weakness to enemies, while granting the user Life Force.
  4. Each pulse grants Stability to allies while also converting their conditions into boons.
  5. Each pulse converts allies’ conditions into Might and Stability.
  6. Each pulse converts removes a condition from allies, healing them for each condition removed.

Spectral Wall
I never understood this skill in any format. There was a trick troll Necros tried with it in the Eternal Battlegrounds by fearing enemies off a ledge, but that’s the only real use anyone has found with it. It pretty much has no impactful effect compared to other Spectral skills at the moment… So maybe these ideas could help improve it.

  1. Enemies that pass through the barrier are feared. The barrier will also block projectiles, sending back a Fearing projectile.
  2. Increase the size of the wall and it’s fear duration.
  3. Fears enemies passing through the wall. Grants Stability to allies passing through the wall.
  4. The Wall travels forward, inflicting Fear and Torment as it passes through an enemy. Also blocks projectiles.

Also now that I’m thinking about it, anyone else think the “Terror” trait needs to be changed like Deathly Chill? Maybe applying stacks of Torment when inflicting Fear would make the trait worth more to Condi builds. “Fear of Death” could also have a change so that enemies above a condition threshold are inflicted with Fear, rather than increasing Fear duration.

[Suggestions] Future Elite Specializations

What if new elite specializations could unlock a type of armor instead of a new weapon?

For example a Revenant spec called Legendary Lich (Vizier Khilbron) that wears light armor or a Elementalist spec called Shaman that wears medium armor.

(People will kill me for this but) It will give more longevity to the game because you will need to get another armor for your char.

I think it could expand a lot the variety of elite specs that they could add to the game and make them feel more distinct.

We already have that I believe. You unlock an Achievement for completing Elite Spec training, which unlocks a special armor piece based on the Elite Spec. For the “Master Reaper” Achievement (as an example), you get the Reaper Hood.

Dark Priest
Allows the user to use Torches and Spirits. Along with the base Death Shroud, the Necromancer also has access to “Death Ward” (F2 Skill), which creates a giant barrier defending nearby allies with Life Force.

Skills

  • Spirit of Preservation: Summon a Spirit of Preservation that heals nearby allies based on a percentage of damage they take.
Displacement: Sacrifice the Spirit to grant nearby allies Aegis.
  • Shadow Spirit: Summon a Shadow Spirit that hides nearby allies.?
Shadowsong: Sacrifice the Spirit to create a pulsing field that turns enemy boons into Blind, and allied conditions into Fury.
  • Spirit of Disenchantment: Summon a Disenchanting Spirit that steals boons from nearby enemies onto itself.
Binding Enchantment: Sacrifice the Spirit to copy it’s boons onto nearby allies, and increase their boon duration.
  • Spirit of Anguish: Summon an Anguish Spirit that attacks foes. Deals more damage to foes with more Conditions.
Dissonance: Sacrifice the Spirit to blast the surrounding area, Dazing foes and granting Stability to allies.
  • Union Spirit: Summon a Union Spirit that grants Protection to nearby allies and absorbs damage they take.
Dark Restoration: Sacrifice the Spirit to grant Dark Restoration to nearby allies. When an ally suffers a fatal blow with Dark Restoration, they are instead healed. Allies with Dark Restoration gain life steal.

Major Adept Traits

  • Boon of Creation: Whenever you summon a Spirit or Minion, grant nearby allies Regeneration.
  • Life Share: Gain Healing Power based on Vitality.
  • Despairing Impetus: Use Dissonance by yourself whenever you are struck by a control effect.

Master Trait

  • Whenever you grant a boon to an ally, you gain Life Force.

Major Master Traits

  • Sacrificial Devotion: Spirits automatically sacrifice themselves when they die. Reduces the cooldown on Spirits.
  • Persistent Darkness: Death Ward is larger and takes less damage from attacks. It also provides Swiftness and Protection to allies.
  • Pyrophobia: Inflicting Burn will also inflict Fear. Decreases the cooldown on Torch skills.

Grandmaster Trait

  • Death Shroud skills will also grant boons. Boon duration is increased in Death Shroud.

Major Grandmaster Traits

  • Star Servant: Whenever a Spirit dies, a Celestial Horror will take its place. These Celestial Horrors will steal health from foes and transfer it to nearby allies.
  • Unholy Blessing: Gain boons when you inflict conditions. Use Binding Enchantment by yourself when you swap weapons.
  • Infernal Ward: Death Ward becomes a Fire field instead of a Dark field. Inflicts Burning and Torment to foes within the barrier.

I based most of these Skills off the GW1 Ritualist, while making the Necromancer a more supportive profession, to deviate from the mostly selfish core traits it’s infamous for.

New gear when? (Paladin, Demolisher, etc.)

If you can find a gear combo close to Paladin stats then let me know please.

New gear when? (Paladin, Demolisher, etc.)

I doubt this is in development already, but I’m curious if this was ever given any thought. I have seen the stats on the new PvP amulets, and I’ve found some of them to look really good overall. They open a lot of potential for new build types, and new meta builds I’m sure have surfaced thanks to them. I actually do wish that there was gear based on those stats available for PvE and WvW. Stat combos like the Marauder’s were not a gear set until the Heart of Thorns release, which leads me to assume that stats like Paladin and Demolisher aren’t going to get gear until the next to-be-dated expansion comes out. So I would like to know: will this be likely bound to happen, or if there’s a chance new gear could come within a sooner release (like further down the Living Story Season 3)?

hmmm…. so the way around the problem is just not to use a gamepad (I use a Razer Tartarus) or just use default key maps?

I think a staff member needs to know about this… that’s pretty important…

Wait a key bind problem? That was it? How does that fix the connection bug?
