In my opinion, leveling is not fun

I just want to say, to people that find it gets dull to explore, level, develop character, etc. after you have 2 or 3 level 80s:

Games don’t last forever. You reach the end of a single player game, you stop playing. Sometimes you replay it, or try to get the most out of it. But when you’ve done the majority of the content STOP and MOVE ON to something else. Don’t keep desperately clinging to the game and wailing for changes to enhance your -specific- experience. Other people need to go through this process, just like you did.

Everyone gets a different kind of enjoyment out of a game, so have fun with what you like and accept that the game will not be completely tuned to your preferences. And again, if it gets to the point where everything is tedious and annoying… it may be time to take a break. Come back when there’s fresh content.

Weakness makes me sick

In PVE, there are several problems with weakness.

#1: Champions have weakness duration reduced by 50%. Since weakness already has short durations, this means that most weakness falls off champs before they fire off an attack.

#2: Weakness is RNG based. Since many champs will kill players in 1 to 2 hits, there is little reason to invest and weakness and maybe survive than to invest in something else and definitely survive.

#3: It is the weakest form of mitigation. At an average of 25% reduction of damage, it is beaten out by protection (33%), blocks (100%), blinds (100% on non-champs), dodges and evades (100%), and also by CC on occasion (100%)

#4: Weakness is enemy dependent, instead of player dependent. This means that application ceases being useful the moment an enemy is dead, and in many circumstances this happens really fast.

Put all of these together, and you’ll see why weakness has issues. IMO, if champs didn’t have their weakness duration reduced, then weakness would be much more useful. Until then, weakness isn’t something a player should invest any points in.

Ah, makes sense. I was thinking more along the lines of Ele Earth Staff 1 than actually sacrificing utilities for it, but even then the chances it would actually help are pretty slim I can see.

Why do I keep reading that Weakness isn’t useful in PvE? I don’t understand.

Transmutation Stones vanished

[s]I thought I might be the only one.

Happened to me as well. I only have 5 charges in my inventory (checked other characters), and the 2 crystals and about 30 transmutation stones I “converted” disappeared. The 5 were the free ones I received from the TP.[/s]

They’re in my wallet! Check your currency tab.

:< I did! Only those 5 charges after I added them, unfortunately. I didn’t convert any at all, they were gone when I logged in.

Pretty simple, logged in after patching, went to convert my stones I’ve been saving up ever since I started playing GW2 and… no stones. Not in any inventory, not in my bank, they’re just GONE.

There was one stone on a character that I earned last night, but the main stack that should have been in my bank is missing.

I’m not sure where to go with this, the Support tab is pretty useless.

The Water Element

Thanks for the answers. I admit, though, I was hoping that I was doing something wrong and Elementalist was actually much simpler than I thought.

From the sounds of it, Water is gimmicky and not something I want to spend a lot of time in after blowing cooldowns.

The Water Element

Hello.

First, context, I have only played up to level 35 as an Elementalist and mostly PvE.

I have a problem in which the element of Water is largely useless. I understand that the healing can be great, but in reality for me to make my healing significant I’d need to cripple all my other elements and stack Healing Power. I actually tried this with dagger main hand using Signet of Healing. Vapor Blade is very quick so I was constantly healing and stacking Vuln on enemies while healing allies nearby via Soothing Mist and Water 2. Water 3 was perfect for escaping crowds.

I played like this in several situations while solo, partied, and partied in the Ascalon Catacombs. While I definitely helped the team, there were some major problems:

1. While out of Water I wasn’t terribly useful

2. Healing and support doesn’t ‘tag’ enemies; you won’t get loot and in events you won’t earn completion credit.

3. The healing really isn’t worth it if you compare the damage you could do instead. You’d be able to protect your team MORE by killing things quicker in many cases.

4. I switched to a more Damage oriented playstyle emphasizing Fire and my solo ability skyrocketed. Solo, Water isn’t very good except for swapping into it to pump out Water 3 and then changing to another element as quickly as possible. The healing of Water 2 on self is really kinda bad. Then I tried the same style in a group and my team ability was also much much higher… I found myself almost always in Fire. The base damages and burning damages are ridiculous when compared to other elements.

Keep in mind: level 35 with Dagger main hand. Leaving the offhand out for now, this is just a comparison of elements in general.

So my main questions are these: why are all of the elements better than Water? Why is Fire in particular better than all others (in my opinion)? Why is support and healing possible in a game with no framework (tagging kills, events, etc.) for healing?

I remember Anet saying that they wanted no tanks and no healers. So why do we have this seemingly crippled element with healing? Is it like that BECAUSE it can heal others?

Sorry for the rant. I’m just really confused and frustrated as to why I can’t use one of my elements as much as I use the others.
