Hello! Long time player, currently on break from game, planning on coming back soon for New Expansion. I now know that NOTHING will ever compare to my beloved Ritualist class from GW1. I tried to fill the void with the Engineer, thinking the turrets would emulate the spirit play the Ritualist class perfected but that was a bust. Tried Ranger for it’s nature spirits and that was okay I guess. The Druid was a little bit better because Shaman = Healer in my mind. The Revenant kind of let me down, because I love the aesthetics, the blidfolds, and the “channeling” of ancient heroes, ALL of which is very shamanic, but I didn’t quite like it being a Heavy Armor class. So now with the new elite specializations coming, I’m wondering if I should try the Soulbeast. Becoming one with your pet’s spirit and all that. What do you think?
I’m not sure where exactly to post this, so I’ll post it here and hope it gets to where it needs to go.
I guess I was on a break from playing GW2 when they decided to take away the cost of repairing armor. Since they have, I don’t really understand the point of having to repair your armor anyway? I never had a problem having enough coin to repair my armor, just by playing the game naturally…. so what was the point of making armor repairs free?
It just seems like a waste of time at this point, I can go in and get hulk smashed by many bosses many times, only to turn around and instantly have my armor repaired on my next WP trip…. FOR FREE…. I feel like, at least when I had to pay for it, it taught me a lesson, I felt like “welp, better go at this at a different direction…. maybe get a better group, etc etc”
So, can somebody explain to me why even have armor repair anymore?
I was just looking through the store and noticed the Monk outfit is still for sale. I’m willing to accept that I’ll never get the Ritualist of old in GW2, but I can live with it if I had some old school Kurzick/Luxon Ritualist outfit to go on my Herald. She’s already got the blindfold, she’s channelling spirits, give me a Ritualist skin to cover up that clunky heavy armor she’s got to wear and that will be enough Ritualist for me. I’ll love you forever.
Okay then. Thank you. Like they said in the Navy “Hurry up and wait!”.
I’m trying to be patient. I really am. I realize they are swamped with bugs and what not from HoT. And I’m trying to wait three days before submitting another ticket, but I’m REALLY upset about this.
Last night a little after midnight, I paid 1800 gems for a world transfer from Ehmry Bay to Blackgate. I clicked to continue, and it immediately logged me out, as the pop up notification said it would. I was able to log back in immediately, but I my wallet was 1800 gems lighter and I’m STILL in Ehmry Bay.
Now it’s about 5:30 p.m. and still no word from support and still no world change. Those 1800 gems were part of the 8000 gem/ $100 package I purchased, and until I either get my gems back or my world changed, I’m EXTREMELY displeased. I work hard for my money, and I enjoy helping Arena Net by purchasing gems, but right now, I’m not getting the most for my money.
I’ve been supporting Guild Wars since Prophecies, and I would really greatly appreciate it if somebody could address this matter.
Hint says: “Fang of the vinetooth found in Auric Basin” …. I remember fighting one in a cavern…. Can’t remember where the cavern is tho…. If I find it again, is this the vinetooth they are referring to? Are there others on the map and is the fang a random drop?
I give you
“Enigmatic Was Razah”
….my pride and joy, full Nightmare Herald.
(well, except for bad-kitten spiky blindfold )
:D
Okay, thanks! I appreciate the help!
I’m trying to finish this collection and only need 3 more pieces to complete the headpiece. The lining, the case, and the insignia. My questions:
For the hint “drops from Saurian enemies” I assume its a random drop from bristlebacks, arrowheads, and those smokeskin assassin type creatures correct? Any good places to farm them?
For the hint “defeat the chak gerent” I’m pretty sure its found in Tangled Depths but I’m not sure which event chain to follow. Any details about that?
For the hint “sold by crystalline ore vendors in Dragon’s Stand” I see an icon for a crystalline ore seller on my world map but there are only two vendors there; a general merchant and another that sells machetes for ley line stuff and I think aurirlleum. Is the vendor located elsewhere in Dragon’s Stand or does he only spawn after successful completion of the meta event?
Thank you in advance for your help!
I hope you enjoy!
As one of the stalwart souls who braved the Molten Facility over, and over, and over, and OVER again until I got that drop, I would be super sad if it became available for a bag of gold and a couple of laurels. It’s unfortunate that some people weren’t playing during that time. It’s a very sentimental in game item for me, when I think of the hours upon hours of running the same dungeon until I got it.
Thanks so much everybody!
I’ve been playing GW2 since day one (still kick myself for not grabbing the name “Zen”) but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what I need to to discover to finish the Maguma Explorer Achievement points.
Drives me crazy to get the “Been There. Done That.” achievement but still miss these 5 areas…..
I’ve been at 162/167 for EVER……. is it the jumping puzzles I’m missing? Is there some sort of app or resource I can use to help me find these last 5 areas?
Bugged in Ehmry Bay. Maybe it will be fixed in the April Feature Pack? A year for a persistent bug?
I’ve tried an all gadget-trait build. It just sucked SO hard. . . My guess is the devs figure it’s okay to have all the gadgets trait in one line since they are so underpowered. An engi with all turrets and SOME turret-related traits VS an engi with all gadgets and ALL gadget-related traits isn’t much of a match up, I think the turret engi would dance a jig all over the gadget engi.
That depends. A gadget Engie has distance. A Turret Engie controls an area. A gadget would have good burst as well, turret engie has CC. I’d really like to see how a turret vs a Gadget would work to be honest.
“Tools – Gadgeteer – gadgets grant additional boons upon use. Boon vary based on the gadget being used – AED – 3s of retaliation, Personal Battering Ram – 5s of fury; Rocket Boots – 4s of Vigor; Slick Shoes – 8s of regeneration; Throw mine – 6s of aegis; Utility Goggles 5 stacks of might for 8 seconds.”
This grandmaster trait might make gadgets more viable in my opinion I’m excited to give it a try. I never thought of the burst potential of an all gadget build. Perhaps it would be a draw?

“You know, if they scaled with stats and didn’t die so easy, and always go on a huge recharge when you pick them up”
EXACTLY! I remember so long ago whispers about Engineer giving us aspects of play we loved about the Ritualist class . . . i.e. Spirits . . .
Hope the devs are feelin’ us
Maybe that’s the trade – off for it being a great trait. . . if we were able to get every turret related trait into one build, it would probably be way too OP.
“Alchemy: Experimental Turrets – Turrets apply boons based in a 600 raidus around them every 10 seconds. Thumper turrets: 3 seconds of protection. Net turret: 10s of swiftness. Rifle turret – 5s of fury. Healing turret – 3s of vigor. Rocket turret – 3s of retaliation; Flame turret – 3 stack of might for 10s.”
I’ve read most people gripe about the upcoming nerfs to engineer. I can understand some, I can’t understand others. Only thing I’ve ever wanted was for turrets to be a more viable options in dungeons. This new Grandmaster trait in Alchemy makes me happy. Anybody else think that turrets will be more viable for PvE play in the upcoming feature patch?
I like ’em too! Really a great look with a Sylvari Toon
Yeah Alpha, I think the Scarlett thing is being drawn out a bit too long… but this patch is a WELCOME distraction
Yeah :/ … unfortunately haters gonna hate o.O
I know people are ALWAYS going to find SOMETHING to complain about, no matter how hard the devs work, no matter what content they release. I just wanted to take the time and tell you that I’m VERY impressed with the “Tower of Nightmares” patch. I LOVE IT!
I haven’t had this much fun with the living story since “Flame and Frost”. LOVE the story/lore arc here. LOVE the idea of “finishing” enemies, kind of brings that WvW flair over to PvE. LOVE the new heal skill, and the accompanying tool belt skill for my Engineer
I would very much like to see more open world content like this, driven by a great story/lore arc, content that a solo player like myself can just jump right in and enjoy, join a Zerg, farm some spores, etc etc…. and I haven’t even been IN the tower yet hahaha
Been playing from day one and you all are keeping me interested. Keep it up A-Net! Now the haters can get back to hating
PVE:
1. Personal Story
2. RP
3. Alt Friendliness
I love Guild Wars 2. I really do. I buy some gems out of the store every paycheck because I want to support A-Net as much as I can. However, this "1000 nougat centers = 1 best nougat center .. . . " is just too much. It honestly makes me want to NOT buy gems this paycheck tonight…. why should I keep supporting A-Net when I feel like they’re just trying to pull a fast one over on me? Perhaps they really don’t need my 20 bucks here and there.
Crafting “The Crossing” was the only thing I really looked forward to this Halloween update, and now it seems so unobtainable, I feel like “meh”. . . I’ve looked past most gripes and concerns most people vent on these forums…. one being that although GW2 set out to “not” be a grind fest, it has certainly become one, with grinding for mats for legendaries, ascended, and now, holiday items…. it feels like A-net is saying "Oh? can’t grind it out? Well, you can always buy gems. . . . "
I certainly hope that’s not the case. I say this with all the possible respect, love, and admiration for the devs as I possibly can. Really hope this changes.
Makes sense. I’ve made the toon, maybe something will come up along the way.
I’m thinking of changing my Norn character’s name to "Havroun of " …. haven’t picked what animal/spirit yet. I wanted to know the origin of the word “Havroun” first, however.
I know the wiki defines them as “uncommon Norn Shaman” but I’m trying to just know the history of the word itself. For all my google searches, I’ve found only that it means “wild oat” in Old Norse?
Anybody, ideas?
Okay, I see, it will still show the original karma reward in the reward message, but you’ll see the increase when it goes into your wallet. Got it. Thanks.
I posted on the forum last week asking about whether or not karma boosters were working. Lots of “viewed posts” no responses. I’ve read the dev statement about a “Karma Rollback” last month that, according to the post, was supposed to end on the 3rd of that month. I’ve read posts about some “workaround” that involved logging back in on to your character after activating your buffs. ( Which didn’t work for me )
So. Can somebody, anybody, definitively tell me what is going on with Karma boosters?
As an engineer main, I’m happy to see the updates to the class, though I’d really like to see the base health/armor of all turrets increased. Even with the trait that reduces damage to turrets by 30 percent, They still won’t be viable for dungeon play. With that trait, the turrets last a little longer in PvE and WvW, perhaps in PvP as well, and by that I mean there’s less chance of enemies “one-shotting” your turrets. But in dungeons and world boss events, trait or no trait, turrets are usually insta-killed. If the devs could make them stand stronger, so that their effects can really be felt throughout a fight I would finally be at peace with A-net. There was so much talk that “engineer is the closest thing to Ritualist your’e gonna get in GW2” . . . . and I can see their point because when I play open world PvE, I run 3 turrets and I get that old Ritualist feeling again. Then a Champ comes along or I deploy one in a dungeon and my day dreams are shattered. My idea would have the health/armor of the turrets scale off of the Vitality/Toughness of the player using them, much like how the condition damage caused by turrets is directly linked to the players Malice.
I just ran 3 events in Cursed Shore that each gave me 378 Karma while under the effect of a Karma booster. The wiki says that the normal reward for these events is 378 Karma.
Is it broken? Am I missing something?
I run this dungeon on average 5 times a day, and have run it every day since its release and have not gotten a mini or the jetpack, just two recipes for the Infinite ‘Zerker Tonic. And a bunch of rare and exotic inscriptions. And a lot of trash loot. Which after selling on TP and vendor comes to roughly around 20 something gold. And I have a full set of exotic sentinel’s gear and weapons.
So yeah, no jetpack.
But still gonna run at least 5 times a day
Because loot is loot.
Gold is gold.
I love the direction of the living story, it honestly keeps me wanting to play and it is certainly a respite from the traditional expansion route of other mmo’s.
Based of what you’ve said so far, Colin, it seems like you can use the living story to open up new areas of the world map, destroy some other areas, bring back bosses, introduce new enemies…..
so would it be fair to assume that we might see new playable races, perhaps even new classes or crafting professions as well, via the living story?
This skill point was bugged when GW2 was released, and I’m kind of surprised that it’s still having issues. It’s very frustrating to not be able to achieve the zone completion, the Bear Shaman just sitting there telling you it’s not a good time to be traveling.
