For one I feel like Engineers who have no desire to use kits should be able to swap between the Pistol and Rifle loadouts , is there some breakage here I’m not seeing?
And the second, kits like grenade, mine, bomb should replace tool belt skills when activated so we still have access to our guns IMO. Idk it just looks silly to me running into the middle of a battle with nothing but a backpack, not to mention to me it’d raise our effectiveness. Im sure similar things have been repeated, but after looking at the main site and seeing the whole “symbol/badge of guns” representing our class, the Actual limitations I feel complete contradict that BA visual representation.
I like the look of it…I’m going to try it out when I get off work. I’ve always preferred the no kit approach to the Engie (flavor wise), although I plan on taking Cloaking device to deal w/stuns and replacing S potion with U. Just kinda always been partial to the quickness and field generation with toss.
…or even go with the Spear/Polearm idea on land and have a decent long range auto attack and perhaps one other ranged skill. That’d be just fine with me.
I wouldn’t mind being able to shoot a fireball too lol! Take something away from Elementalists Staff skills
In all seriousness though, Longbow would be awesome but I think we will have to wait until an expansion comes if they are going to add weapons to Professions.
Ok ^this old but…might not be THAT crazy of an idea…
I’m thinking like add a Gauntlet like weapon that allows you to channel you’re Spirit-like energy into projectiles/explosions, or even Fists for a knockback melee attack?
Butyea I’m all for a Bow type weapon, Guardian is by far my fav class flavor wise…it just feels so “turtly” in this game having to be melee range for nearly everything. It’d just make PVE more enjoyable for me to be able to draw enemy attention from a decent distance.
they are still hiring.

^This…must be hard work being a couch coach.
Eh….when I looked at the class the butterflies and color scheme immediately meshed perfectly with what I understood as the direction/concept for the class. Mesmer first and foremost is about deception, and there is absolutely no easier way to charm/deceive/control/manipulate someone or get them to drop their guard than through beauty, which is where the colors/butterfly symbolism comes in.
Hell beautiful (mentally stable) people tend to have lives that are far easier than the norm, which (along with as some1 mentioned b4, the royal-like purple colors) also reference the Duelist fighter…aristocratic, dodging, parrying dominating his/her opponents in an “easy” fashion..again through control.
So yeah I guess it all depends on what you expected out the character, but personally I love Everything about the class in concept. And it fits my personal mentality as well. But IMO it obviously drew heavy inspiration from characters like Psylocke from X-men or perhaps even Byakuya from the Bleach Anime.
