Where?
I think the mists would be a perfect place for the guild halls since I don’t think having it in the open world is a viable option with the way the game was first implemented, it’s not a sandbox mmo and trying to make it into one now is probably not something anet has in mind and/or have the time for.
The foundation in the mists
The idea I have for the foundation is not a complicated one, I think the guild hall should be built on a floating island just like the Mistlock Observatory we have in the fractals or like the Edge of the Mists map in WvW. When your guild first unlocks the guild hall you start off with a small island with space for a guild with 10-20 members and then you can upgrade it further so that the island grows. The last upgrade will have an island big enough for a full guild with 500 members.
EDIT: By using floating islands like this it could in theory be possible to use the guild halls in a GvG format (if the fighting grounds etc are floating in the middle of the two guild halls).
Customization
I think it’s important for us to have the ability to form the structure for our guild hall and with this I mean all of the rooms. How awesome wouldn’t it be if we could choose where our main hall is located and what form the hall has aswell as which rooms/hallways that are connected to it. Just think, no guild hall will probably look alike (we can atleast hope).
Who knows, maybe it could also be possible for each member of the guild to have his/her own small private room somewhere in the guild hall (the guild leader could get a small room for each member in the guild for free).
Being able to place down furnitures etc is something I expect and therefore won’t say anything about.
Themes
It wouldn’t be too much fun if all walls and buildings would be looking the same whenever you see a picture of some other guilds guild hall, so we should have themes from which you can choose room designs, walls, furnitures, plants etc. From the start the themes should be focused on our main races, Asura, Sylvari, Norn, Human and Charr. Maybe you want your guild hall to look like a second pale tree or a garbage dump. (Yes. I’m looking at you, Black Citadel). This also opens up the possibility for more themes in the future.
Other Stuff
I’ll leave all functionalities etc to the rest of the community. : )
Feel free to tell me about what can be improved, or what consequences would come of this idea.
(Sorry for not following the proper format. ^^)

Can’t we just unlock 5 traits every 5 levels with start at level 10? Something like this:
Lvl 10: 5 new traits (Total: 5)
Lvl 15: 5 new traits (Total: 10)
Lvl 20: 5 new traits (Total: 15)
Lvl 25: 5 new traits (Total: 20)
Lvl 30: 5 new traits (Total: 25)
Lvl 35: 5 new traits (Total: 30)
Lvl 40: 5 new traits (Total: 35)
Lvl 45: 5 new traits (Total: 40)
Lvl 50: 5 new traits (Total: 45)
Lvl 55: 5 new traits (Total: 50)
Lvl 60: 5 new traits (Total: 55)
Lvl 65: 5 new traits (Total: 60)
Lvl 70: 5 new traits (Total: 65)
This way it wouldn’t overwhelm new player and still give them some build diversity as they are leveling up.

You ask for specifics on the offensive trait unlock locations; I find myself agreeing with Kain Francois.4328:
X- 100% anything… No, no, no, no!!!! I do not want to do map completion on my 5th alt.
X- Kill Champion X [Group Event] and timegates. Waiting for Champ to spawn, then waiting for people to help…
X- Personal Story Traits… Too little, too late. A possible consequence of traits unlocking at level 30 instead of level 10.
X- “Find the grand chest near Scholar Fryxx.” (Straits of Devastation) This one is just annoying.
X- Any WvW objectives… This is THE worst of all trait unlocks! It combines time gates of waiting until an Ogre Camp expires, so that you could cap it… Then it also has the issue of no one wanted to help out. I’m sure even your own metrics will report that trying to kill the Overgrown Grub is dumb.
This happened to my 4th character, my thief when I got to 80. I only needed this one grandmaster trait (I don’t remember the name of it) for the build I wanted, it’s the one you get from lyssa. But not knowing when she would spawn was really annoying especially if you don’t keep track of timers (which I don’t think new players do) or want to just sit in the area until she spawns, so I ended up buying the trait instead. If I would have been a new player this really would have been a boring experience.
Hey Jon,
I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but:
Don’t you think a well developed, clear and concise tutorial would have at least curbed some of the issues you have with new players “understanding” the game, instead of changing the core game pacing?Wow .. such genius. But hey, that would be too … i don’t know… what’s the word… intelligent?
I don’t know about anyone else but I would have loved a tutorial/introduction video with Colin Johanson explaining the dodge system, and all the thing you unlock while levling 1-80 (wvw, pvp, dungeons, world bosses, traits, new skills etc) so that you have something to look forward to. They should ofc also have some awesome intense music och game footage aswell as some living story hype in it. If the player know what they will get and when they will get it then they will already have a few goals even before they enter the starting area.
Im not really into the idea of having dungeon tokens as the reward for hearths/events, I think it should have its own unique set of rewards instead of using the dungeon rewards which are suppose to be rewards for doing the dungeon. But that’s just my opinion.
Got mine last week for this reason but so far I’ve only been using it for tequatl and a few guild events, hopefully i’ll use it for more stuff later if I find something else that I enjoy doing with the community.
As it is right now, Dragon boss fights are not dynamic. We’re no longer enamored by the fact it’s a Giant fraking monster, we need more. There’s no meat to each fight. WOW has continually succeeded with it’s outdated quest system because their fights are dynamic. I mean, how cool would it be to see a large organized zerg with 15 on Catapults, 10 on Arrow Carts, 10 on Trebs and 10 on Balistas, while the rest are defending those users from hordes of monsters. Even an unorganized pug group in WVW knows that they gotta build siege or they’ll lose a keep. PUG groups in PVE don’t think that because they’re more concerned with min/maxing the boss.
We really need a world boss like this, maybe instead of taking the fight to the boss the boss attacks some big camp/city and we have to use the camp/citys equipment to defend it until we can kill the boss or all npcs there dies and the city will be filled with mobs.
Anet, now you know what to do with one of Mordremoths champions so get to it.
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
Well to be honest, Teqatl is medicore boss – organized runs kill him with ease and that’s a good thing, chaotic blob may or may not kill him and its also ok – they will learn cooperation or they will not do Taquatl anymore.
Fine by me, because i was in 100% random runs and still we were able to establish cooperation with random peeps that i saw for the first time without using TeamSpeak.
Also Teq is rather rewarding due to miniatures and taquatl boxes of equipment.
BUT
The Great Jungle Wurm…
I hate this one.
He is really hard, even with having people on TS it still can turn into gigantic fail AND its nearly impossible to kill without TS. Its rewards are not equal to the effort that is put into bringing him down – few greens and blue stuff…
This helped me to make up my mind and not doing it.So shortly as a medicore player (not entirely ‘noob’ but not hardcore button-mashing player) i enjoy Tequatl and this kind of difficulty equal to its rewards and hate GJW and its imbalance between difficulty and GJW’s rewards. Teq is that ‘golden middle’ between hard and easy.
As for the rest of Elder’s spawns, both Claw and Shatner should be as tough as Tequatl BUT not as Jungle Wurm.
Now to person calling dungeons “elitist” content…
Seriously get of that champ-train, only hard dungeon as for me is Arah (which is simply long and this makes it hard) rest of them is simply a walk in the park but still they require something more then bashing your head against keyboard as trains teaches people… Try to think and they will become not-so-elite-content. (or try to go through GW1 dungeons – now that’s hard)
I Agree with everything you’re saying, teq should be considered the middle ground between hard and easy. It’s not hard at all to defeat him with random pugs and without using teamspeak aslong as you’re actually trying to defeat him. I would say the problem is the mentality some people seem to have, they just want to join the map just before the event starts get a few hits on teq, get their rares and go somewhere else. They don’t seem to bother asking people what to do or even look it up themselfs, the gw2 community is actually pretty kind and will often tell you what you need to do if you ask in map chat and there will almost always be commanders in the area that know the tactic and will stand where people should gather. I just enjoy the fact that you actually have to be a bit social and interact with the people you’re about do the boss fight with before and during the battle. Even though some bosses could be easier I think that atleast the champions of the elder dragons should be on the same level as teq.
I also agree with what you said about the great jungle worm, I have personally never defeated him but that’s mostly because Im not so active with the part of the community that are trying to do it. I do however like that there are really hard bosses like the great jungle worm in the game for those groups that want a challenge. What we need is an upgrade to guilds and extra functionality to the commander tag that would make communication and planning easier ingame. Maybe an ingame voice chat in squads?

Regarding the rewards from completing events and giving people the incentive to
go back to low level zones to complete events:
I kinda like the way dungeons work, you do a dungeon path and are rewarded tokens
that you can use to buy weapons and gear unique to the dungeon you completed. Why can’t we implement something like this in the open world by turning every zone into a “dungeon” and reward tokens from completing events?
Let’s say you complete an event in Queensdale, when the event is finished you get 1-3
Queensdale Tokens as well as your normal reward. (zone tokens could have its own category in the Wallet) Every zone also have its own unique Merchant where you can choose between 1-2 unique weapon skins that can only be found there.
This would mean that every zone in the game has 1-2 unique skins that only can be obtainable by completing events in that zone. This is only an vague idea I had, so feel free to improve it.
Is this something that could actually work in the game?
EDIT: Missed that someone wrote something similar a few pages back
(edited by Zenty.3596)
I like this idea, but wouldn’t there also be nice if we could get something like dungeon tokens from completing events in an area that we can use to buy minipets and unique weapons/gear that you can only get with that areas token. Doing something like could give level 80 players a reason to go back to other areas of the game and do events.
Maybe they also could implement your idea into a guild mission where your guild get a random area and in that area all your guildmates get a big gold, karma and magic find boost for an hour or something giving your guild an fun aswell as rewarding activity.
Anyhow, your idea is something anet should take a look at if they haven’t already.
Hello ArenaNet, Im not sure if you will ever read this but there are a couple of things that I would love to see you implement in guild wars, it’s actually a couple of pretty small things that I hope you might find interesting and maybe useful.
1# Sorting your friends in different categories, there are just to many awesome people in guild wars to keep track of them all and before you know it you have 50+ friends you can’t even remember where you meet. It would be nice to actually be able to categorise your IRL friends in one categorie, guild mates in one, people you meet in a specifik dungeon in one etc.
Or maybe a system so that you can write private comments on your friends.
2# Being able to join mini games and PvP in partys, I have to admit that there ar a couple of nice mini games in guild wars but the big problem with them is that you can’t play with your friend. That’s something that I want you guys to fix as soon as you can, sometimes you actually want to play with people you know instead of complete strangers.
3# Being able to desposit dungeon tokens in stacks of maybe 500, they are taking up way to much space in the inventory and I don’t feel like buying more bank slots just for them..
These are the only few things im going to bring up, it’s not alot of big things but they would actually make guildwars a whole lot better (atleast for me) and I believe it’s in your power to actually make those ideas real without any problems.
Thanks
And now finally everything is working again, thanks!
After i had 100%-ed all areas on the Map, i went to WvW to discover everything there which i then also did but i only got the reward for the last WvW map i completed, but no letter or any other reward for the World completion.
My world map says 301/301, 507/507, 717/717, 202/202, 266/266, 100%, still others told me there is no star beside my name.
Has anybody else experienced the same or any similar problem?Go to Fort Trinity. Take the portals to Order of Whispers. Go to the Orb in the middle of the room (in the order of whispers realm) and you will get your chest
Had the same problem, followed this instruction and it worked. Thanks!
A couple of days ago I finished my whole personal story quest line (level 80) and got Tome of Influence (1,000 Influence) which I consumed but didn’t get my 1000 influence. And I still have the problem that I can’t change/edit anything in my guild even though im the guild leader, have been like this for over a week now..
I made a guild, and I have the influence to start working on an upgrade, but the ADD button under the upgrade is grey’d out and won’t let me select it. I cannot promote members of the guild to higher ranks. When Editing the permissions of the individual ranks, I can’t seem to uncheck boxes already checked. I can make new ranks, but I can’t delete them afterwards.
I have the same problem with my guild except that I can’t choose more permissions to any rank (only have the one which give me permissions to edit ranks, new members and the basic permissions) and I can’t add messages of the day and we have some influence points so we don’t want to remove the guild and try making a new one.
Guild Name: The Dark Sactums Assembly
Guild Tag: [DSA]
Edit: also the same problem as Magnus Kingmaker
