Hey, all.

Just came here to ask for feedback. Have any of you tried a Shout (Rune of the Soldier – cleanse on shout) build, yet?

I glued something of this sort together, but wasn’t too sure if it’s worth giving it a try. What do you guyz say? It should be tanky, help with recuperating and revives and focus on disrupting and damage spikes.

Does anyone have any experience with this build of sorts? WvW/sPvP

Hiros twitch stream is twitch.tv/hirothebeast just incase anyone was wondering

Unless i am misreading it, it doesnt look like there are any past broadcasts. sort its sort of pointless unless someone happens to catch him live.

I never really understood the streamers who dont post any of their videos after theyve aired. why limit your audience to people who want to watch you live only?

At the moment I can’t record my past broadcasts because I simply need another hard drive, which I recently ordered. I’ll record my streams every time once I get it I can promise you that!

Turn on or view the videos from auto archive.

Basic Tips for tPvP

in PvP

Posted by: infantrydiv.1620

infantrydiv.1620

This thread is intended for sPvP beginners. My tips might seem obvious, but they are mistakes I see made over and over again by beginning and intermediate players (as well as myself!).

If anyone else has basic tips they would like to see added, let me know!

Tips for fighting:

1. Stay Moving: I cannot count how many times I see inexperienced players come to a complete stop to try and execute a skill combo. If you watch high tier players, it’s easy to notice one thing: They never stop moving unless they have an overwhelming positional advantage. Stopping moving while fighting is giving your opponent license to unload any skill he wants on you.

2. Watch Your Opponent, Not Yourself!: Watching your action bar instead of watching your opponent would be like trying to win a fist fight while looking into a hand mirror. To become proficient at fighting, you need to feel comfortable enough with your action bar and your keybinds to be able to be watching your opponent while you execute your skills.

3. Learn Your Specific Build: This point ties into the above points. If you haven’t played a lot with your build, you will have to look at your action bar to know what skills you can use. That puts you at a great disadvantage. Playing a build for a long time helps you to learn to nuances of it to a greater degree and be more effective.

4. Keybinds Are Important: It’s essential to find keybinds that are comfortable and work for your playstyle. These keybinds should allow you to be moving at all times while using any skill in your kitten nal. You also need to learn them well enough so that you never need to look at your action bar.

Tips for beginning tPvP:

1. Don’t Stand On One Point: Although capping and aggressively guarding one point seems like it might be a smart thing to do, it’s almost always preferable to be moving from one point to the next helping your teammates. The goal of conquest is to create uneven fights by winning 1v1s and 2v2s and then pressing your advantage to other points while your opponents are respawning.

2. Know Your Role: Knowing your role basically means knowing what your build and you are best at. Builds like spirit ranger and condition necromancer are best at mid fighting and home point defense due to their low mobility and AoE/support abilities. Highly mobile classes such as thief, warrior, and engineer are great for decapping points and briefly aiding the middle might. You would never want to fight at mid all game on a thief, but on a bunker guardian, that would be perfectly acceptable!

3. Far Point Is Dangerous: Unless you are sure of what you are doing, running far point is almost always going to be a negative for your team, especially if you are a beginner. Far point is always going to have passing enemy respawns and you will be isolated from the rest of your team. Losing a 1v1 on a far point allows the enemy to send one extra person to attack another point and can potentially wipe your whole team.

First time I have really felt broken

So I have been playing my ranger almost since launch. First 80 was a guardian and then the ranger, also took some time to get a necro to 80. I am no expert but I feel that I have a handle on most situations. I’m running a power/condi build, S/D and A/T. I know Axe, YUCK. But I have built around camp flipping/yaks so axe works for me.

My spec is pretty fluid so if I run in a group or zerg I can switch a few traits and equip SB or LB for at least be more support.

I have fought all classes solo and while I’m not a duelist I have felt that I gave as good as I got. Mesmer’s give me fits. Thieves don’t really bother me much since there are so many played badly, the good ones are tough. But I feel any well played class can be tough.

Today I got rocked by engineer. This guy was bombing me from max range. Sure with the LB I could hurt him but he would just skip out of range and jump back and bomb away. If I got close I was rooted for what seemed like an eternity. When I finally managed to beat him, after several tries it was from an evade of his snares and I felt a missed rotation on his part.

Like many have said it seems that every class does what we can do way better. I always took the point that people were frustrated and just venting. Like I am now. I enjoy the flexibility we have to change weps and pets to alter our attacks but it just seem like sometimes it’s not enough. But why do we have to be kitten perfect almost all of the time. I enjoy the fact that most people see a ranger and think easy kill and then get surprised when its not as easy as they though.

Why does every fight have be a near perfect performance?

Why does my pet stop to stand there looking at me in the middle of a fight??

Sry for the rant just a ranger blowing off some steam.

I think if rapid fire cast time was reduced a bit it would be really solid. While power ranger is a solid build it is lacking something. It lacks either damage, a way to lock down a target, or survivability. Changing one of those things will make it balanced imo. However, I do not think it is anything that should be done to the ranger or the skills the only thing it lacks in terms of survivability is sustain vs. condis. All that is needed for just a tad bit more sustain is one more condi clear besides SoR which I believe should be something given by traits. Something like grandmaster skirmishing: remove 3 conditions when you gain quickness so that QZ can be used to clear condis as well. This would open up build diversity a lot especially something like 0/30/0/0/30 a power BM essentially that is not reliant on EB. But I digress, the thing that the power ranger most lacks is pet control because if we could control just one more pet skill we would have the ability to lock down targets easier (since we wouldn’t have to have god tier pet control/timing like is needed now) which would also increase our damage and help with survivability via self peels.

Sick'Em needs to be fixed.

I still think Sic’ Em needs it’s functionality changed entirely. Instead of requiring a target, why doesn’t it just give a base damage/movement buff to our pet for any action it does? Why does the buff go away when I use F2? Why can’t the destealth occur in a AoE form 600 radius around the pet? Shouts are so lackluster right now, no self-respecting Ranger could possibly use it without some backlash involved.

How do you deal with condi mesmers?

Its usually 20/20/30 but there are variations. Its a kitteny build to fight honestly, sustained damage is ok, survivability is high. I generally don’t lose to melee when I play mine, however the trick to beating them is to not kill the clones. Impossible if you have any cleave on your weapon. Clones produce the conditions, without clone death, dps goes from ok sustained to poor. The classes that have given me the most trouble are, believe it or not, power rangers. They have no cleave:D. And as other posters have pointed out condition overload (usually engineers, for some reason I can handle necro’s more often than not)

Grab a decent dps pet like drake or jag or raven and send your pet after the iduelists and mages and stuff when you can. Takes a lot of micromanaging but reduces their dps by a lot.

Easy first attack damage boost
Signet of the Hunt applies a 16 minute buff to your active pet when used. Yes, 16 minute. Activate it, wait for the relatively short cooldown, then swap it or keep it for the passive. The buff stays until your pet attacks or you swap pets (or dies, but the likelyhood of that before the pet gets an attack off is low).
