Guild Missions [merged]

I know there have been some concerns about Guild Bounties being in the Art of War line. Our goal with this system is to give guilds activities and long-term progression that they can accomplish by working together as a guild. These missions are meant to be difficult and challenging to not only unlock, but to accomplish.

We would also like to make every guild upgrade line valuable to every guild. Currently, Art of War is very focused on PvP and WvW, but our plan is to continue to add more guild upgrades in the Art of War line to accomplish this. These Guild Missions are the first step. Along with this system, we also added a number of new guild upgrades that guilds can earn.

In the end, our goal for all of this content is to give guilds new goals and challenges to accomplished once they have researched deeply into each line, as well as require guilds to have researched multiple lines to unlock some upgrades. We expect guild members to have to work together as a guild to earn the influence needed to unlock these new missions, as well as overcome the challenge of the missions themselves.

In the future, we plan to continue to add more guild upgrades, as well as continue to add challenging guild missions, as we don’t want guilds to run out of goals and accomplishments they can achieve.

For a lot of us, the problem isn’t the Art of War (though it is also rather disappointing). The problem is the huge advantage you are giving to larger guilds. It is already hard for small guilds to recruit members and compete with the big guys. Now it is becoming nearly impossible. The average player wants to maximize their gains. Large guilds will be able to easily offer the new guild missions (and the bonuses that come with them) to potential recruits. Small guilds of groups of friends simply can not keep up with this. In the end, we are being forced into large guilds for the gain that comes with this new update. Casual guilds get the short end of the stick, despite the promise that we can play the game our way.

Perhaps our small guild “Ruston” would be right for you. We are small and casual, but we do nightly fractal or dungeon runs. We also have a WvW commander. Please contact Zlotnik.1490 via in-game mail if you are interested.

Here is a link to our recruitment thread on Reddit.

[BUILD] "The Sentry"

i think it’s the forum’s issues. you have to copy and paste the link.

sounds like a fun build. though you seem to be not as focused down either shouts / meditations or consecrations and use a bit of all of them. do you ever feel you spread the traits a bit thin in any given area?

sounds like you need to be extremely mobile for this build. also, how does it fare in dungeons? : ))

There’s actually no concentrations in this build. The primary focus, is of course, meditations. The one shout is in there to add to the general bulk, and could be substituted if need be by another skill.

In terms of dungeons, I’ve done the whole lot of them using this build. It will keep you alive, but of course its not as helpful as support-focused party builds to your party-mates. The boons that you do provide, however, will last for quite a bit, so there’s at least some longevity support involved.

Hello ladies and gents.
Long time Guardian player here. Decided to share a rather effective build I’ve been using.

==

[The Sentry]
This build focuses on Mobility and Survivability. It excels at area control and 1 vs 1 fights.

PROS:
-Good in both PvE and PvP environments
-Provides great survivability through many health recovery options and continuous Protection uptime
-100% swiftness uptime + blink teleports makes this a very mobile build
-Hammer and Staff makes for a good area control weapon combo coupled with low cooldowns and high bulk
-Excels at chasing down and punishing single targets
-Good retaliation uptime to mitigate lower base damage
-Helpful to your party. Not a very selfish build

CONS:
-Not as high damaging as some other builds
-Lower health could make taking continuous bursts harder
-Not as party-oriented as shout builds

==

Method:
As mentioned above, the build is very mobile and bulky. Using “Monk’s Focus” with 2 meditations provides fast and easy recovery, while “Signet of Resolve”, “Hold the Line”, and “Empower” provide extra heals when needed. The “Inspired Virtue” trait coupled with “Renewed Focus” and increased boon duration gives a great defensive boost to the party. Increased boon duration on Protection and Swiftness also allows you to stay quick and durable. You may not deal as much damage as that brute in Berserker gear, but you will win the fight with minimal casualties in style as a true Sentry Guardian.

Were you expecting different outcome? It’s for levels 80 with full exotics. It’s an elite content, you can’t just wander in with level 2 with no skills unlocked, no traits unlocked, no weapon swap unlocked and most importantly not good enough gear. This game seriously needs gear checks. Less QQ, more pew pew. Get level 80 and appropiate gear first. Then you can enjoy gw2 to its fullest

Go back to WoW.

Until they can come up with something that can replace Save Yourselves, Hold the Line and Stand Your Ground from the utility bar …no Meditation skill will appear on my bar.

I run a defensive meditation build. I can tell you from personal experience that meditations can be very useful if you are geared and traited correctly. I’m a non-AH Guardian, so I rely on my meditations for healing.

That being said, I agree that this change to Merciful Intervention makes it even more useless than it was before. It is the only meditation that never saw the light of day on my skill bar.

^Wow it just got really cold in here.

I actually like your build, Leonard. Its takes guts to stand up and tackle the norm. I’m not saying that this is the most effective build, but its good to see people still looking for alternatives instead of defaulting to Crit Hammer. Guild Wars 2 is a game that offers so much variety and choice, so its quite a shame to see people throw it away in place of “more favorable” builds. So, in short, ignore the haters and keep doing what you’re doing and getting better at it!

Cheers
-A fellow Guardian.

The new FOV is fantastic. Thank you ANet!

Thank you very much! As a bulky Norn who can finally look up without having the camera zoom in on my posterior, as well as look around in general, I couldn’t be happier with this new FOV.
