Excited to say I’ve convinced a longtime friend to play gw2 again! He’s almost level 80, playing a Ranger and is loving it.

My question is more towards what I should play to assist him, playing as a druid. If you could choose, which class best complements a Druid?

I have a level 80 Guard, Ele, Mesmer, Thief and Necro not to mention 2 level 80 boosts. Basically I’m willing to play the class that makes the most sense.

We’re planning to play in WvW, SPvP and PVE content (Non-Raid HoT’s stuff mostly). Not too concerned with the PvE as I feel the tanky Necro is always entertaining with a Druid buddy. Just not dead set on the WvW/SPvP side of the game. For WvW, planning to do mostly zerging until we’re both comfortable with our classes to eventually move towards roaming.

So getting back into the game and trying to talk a friend into playing. He’d be purchasing a new copy so completely new account.

Since it’s a new account, can he select severs that are locked such as my server, BlackGate? If not that would likely be a deal breaker, as we’re mostly interested in WvW.

Thanks for the feedback. After posting I did my own research, analyzing the data players have compiled for salvaging etcos and then the ToT bags. Like you, I came to the same conclusion. Ectos, salvaged with a mystic or black lion kit, offer the best return.

What I didn’t take into account was the amount of items gained out of ToT bags, and you’re obsolutely correct; managing all those items is a burden.

Hello, I’m curious if using the trick or treat bags to farm luck is an efficient way to boost my magic find. I’ve heard that people use these to do so, but is it the best method when factoring in the loss of gold?

I believe it is, but thought I’d ask the experts as I’m still fairly new to the game.

I just dinged 80 (yay!) and would love to join a “new player friendly” guild on the Blackgate server that participates in all the joys of GW2, especially WvW. Right now, my goal is to acquire decent gear (exotics?) to be at least competitive in the WvW environment. I’m usually on at night (9:00PM to 12:00 CST) throughout the week.

I plan to run with a medi type build, but I am open to try other things.

I’m almost level 80 and have some questions I’m still trying to answer. Overall, my plan is to focus mostly on WvW, with PvE being mainly a focus to work on my gear. From what I understand, gear plays a big part in WvW, but once you have a solid set of exotics you should be good.

My plan on gear progression was to first grab some cheap, green level 80 gear (budget <30 silver so cheap stuff). From there, I would aim to obtain a full set of exotic armor, with the intention of replacing pieces with Ascended items overtime. After a few months, my goal is to have full Ascended armor through purchases and crafting.

This brings me to my questions below:

Karma – I read somewhere a long time ago it was important to save up your Karma for level 80 gear. So I haven’t spent any, now totaling around 180K. Can I buy gear (such as exotics) directly with Karma? Or is it better to use this for something else (such as legendary items, runes, upgrades?).

Laurels – I have also been saving these. I believe I saw that you can buy Ascended armor with these. Is that correct? Is there a better use for these?

Gold – I’ve also collected around 25 gold. While not much, I want to make sure I get the most use out of it. I was planning to use this, coupled with all the various materials found while leveling, and work on crafting (Armor/Jewelcrafting).
