whats with all these valkyrie stuff with peopel here…
Are people seriously so mind numbed, that they all forget, that valkyries are FEMALES ONLY???

So alone this makes a profession named valkyrie just simple impossible.
Its already immersion breaking enough that there exist in the game Valkyrie Armor Upgrades that can be used by male characters alike. These Upgrade should get renamed imo finally into “Justiciar” Upgrades instead or something else, that is neutral for both genders.

And before you mentioned it – No, the typ “Valkyr” doesn’t exist at all if you want to come up with the cheap try to say, that htis would be the male version of valkyries, cause as said, there exist none.

Valkyries are female only War Maidens of Odin which had the purpose to guide the slain heroes of various battlefields to Valhalla.
They do this, to turn their chosen heroes into Einherjars, mighty heroes that prepare for the events of Ragnarok

PS: got ninjad xD

Then what would be the nearest ambiguous term to Valkyrie? Because that’s what this class is.

Valkyrie

This class is straight up Lenneth Valkyrie from Valkyrie Profile.

There has been a lot of negative opinion on the name Dragonhunter and really, why not? What profession in GW2 ISN’T a dragon hunter? So here’s an alternative that I think would make everyone happy.

As someone who made a Norn Guardian specifically to model the character after Lenneth from Valkyrie Profile, the only things I was missing from making the character complete were the abilities to wield a bow as an alt, temporarily grow wings made of light and drop a giant flaming spear on my enemies. This class is straight up a Valkyrie.

So glad I bought those 3 new character slots last week. Now I have 3 low level characters that will get to sit there untouched. As a bonus, every time I log in I get to see their portraits smiling at me as a reminder of money that would have been just as useful if I had burned it.

I can't recommend this game anymore.

Well, you just said everything I came here to say. I’m also a long time GW1 player and been playing GW2 since Beta as well. I finally purchased 3 new character slots last week so I would be able to have one of every class. Now I feel completely ripped off because new characters are unplayable, so all 3 of those purchases are wasted money. This is now the worst leveling system I’ve ever seen in a game.

I thought the changes to traits were bad, but that pales in comparison to this. I can’t even find joy in playing my 80’s anymore.

Sad to say, but after nearly a decade, Guild Wars is dead to me until this is fixed.

I just ran into this issue myself. I tried to purchase gems twice but it failed. Then I came here and found this thread. I went to submit a ticket and tried one more time so that I could copy the exact text from the error message. The purchase went through.

The only difference was that I tried not checking the “agreement” check box when I hit confirm. After it errored out and made me check the box, then I checked it and hit confirm. It might have been a fluke, it might have been a weird work around. You might try it.

I unchecked the agreement box, and then it would not let me hit confirm. After checking it again, I still get an error message.

Guess mine was just a fluke then. It was worth trying. Good luck.

How does one get into this game

The OP brings up a good point that would not have been relevant prior to the new trait system.

After 7-8 months away, I recently came back to GW2 and decided I would reroll my level 20 Elementalist and start a new mage from level 1.

Waiting until level 80 to build out a character is unacceptable; on my prior 80’s I was able to have a build and the anchor traits fairly locked in and on track prior to level 80. Now I face a trait rationing in dribs and drabs based on content as well hard level restrictions for basic tier unlocks.

Nearly all the mini-perks to leveling have been removed, the bulk of which now start at level 30.

This has completely ruined the game for me, the game already suffered from being “dry” and the new trait system has removed the last bit of incentive for as I level up.

Sadly, I have decided to leave GW2 again after just being back to the game for 5 days.

The new content coming out in July can’t take the stink off the gameplay changes ANet has implemented.

I agree with this. I’ve been gone for a few months due to computer troubles. I jumped back in yesterday after getting my computer upgraded and convincing a friend to buy it during the half off sale. I have multiple mid-level characters. After I saw what the trait changes did to them, I have no desire to level them anymore. Most of what I enjoyed about the game was that the game itself was fun and I didn’t have to “wait until you hit level 80” for it to get interesting. It wasn’t all about the post game like most other MMO’s. The journey of leveling your character was the draw and it should be fun or you won’t draw new people.

Now the trait system is so weighted toward the high end (even more so than other MMOs) that I feel I should apologize to my friend for convincing him to buy it. Before the trait changes you didn’t have to grind your character to upper levels before it started being fun. In fact, the game didn’t feel like a grind at all. Now that’s all it feels like. Grind. You can unlock all your weapon skills by level 5 then have to wait 25 levels before you get any traits!? And then 6 more!? 5 out of every 6 levels are now useless! And level 60 before teir 2 traits!? That’s awful! When I left the game, my level 33 Warrior had what would now be 4 trait points and already had the Major trait in one of the lines. Now he has ONE point! Something he previously had at level 15. I feel like I got 18 levels stolen from me. And that’s just 1 character. My level 52 Mesmer went from 8 trait points to 4 and 2 Majors to NONE! I’m not sure even the guilt I feel for wasting my friend’s money is enough to make me play any more until/if it gets changed back. I don’t even want to play my 80.
