You must refer to me. Let me get this straight:

Desolation had lost tons of players and was EU rank 9 just before the linking system was introduced. We quickly rose to EU rank #1 after getting paired with Vabbi – thanks to having a relatively high number of Points-per-Tick (PpT) players and good overall coverage.

When Desolation lost the server link we dropped to EU rank 10 and believe me or not we were almost non-stop having the outnumbered “buff” on us on 3-4 maps at same time. The only match up where we were not outnumbered all time was vs GH (yes, GH had even lower numbers than Deso).

While we are paired with Vabbi, I am NOT complaining that we have too low numbers compared to enemies. Nowadays we can sometimes even create short queue on 2 different maps at same time. Generally on prime time on one map has queue, so we are still not as full as some might think.

Anyways server linking will change on 6th Jan 2017. I hope Desolation + Vabbi will continue to be linked, because I have grown to like many players on Vabbi and I think these two servers compliment each other. Vabbi hosts also many ex-Deso players, who simply transferred there because of lower transfer cost. If Desolation loses link, we will once again drop like stone.

Reply to the OP: If you enjoy being part of an organized blob using meta builds, I think FSP is your #1 choice. I know many people will claim that Deso quality is low, but honestly I don’t see much difference in quality between FSP or Deso. In the current match up Deso+Vabbi has 1.2 Kills-per-Death (KDR), FSP has 1.0 and JS is 0.7.

I think the main difference is that FSP players are better sticking to the tag aka more organized. Desolation has always had lots of players who just wanna do whatever they want: roam, skirmish, blob, zerg, gvg – and many Desolation players are so stubborn that this will surely drive any PuG commander mad sooner or later. Yet this diversity has proven to give more resilience to Deso. Out of those servers which were in TOP3 in Autumn 2012, Desolation is the ONLY one, which is still in TOP3. Desolation has “died” so many times, yet always came back to top.

Just saying: You might not want to keep the linking (EU) as it is for full 2 months as I guess around a third of players on all servers who currently don’t stand a chance against the monsterblobs you created will quit for good.

I understand that linkings can go wrong and thats its hard to balance them out but atm it seems kinda unbalanced in EU. Hope they relink servers sooner and dont wait the whole 2 months.

Open raids are conducted in English. But of course every guild has it’s own TS channel and one can of course ask and plan to run a personal (or national) event.

So we are still looking for community driven players and guilds (even whole communities) that want a save haven to sit the next couple months out till the “WVW OVERHAUL” gets introduced.

Gunnar’s Hold is recruiting!

We are looking for players who like a challenge.
Join our open/guild raids or help with the defense/roaming or scouting
and join our commanders to grab a Fortified Stonemist Castle when the call goes out.

We love to invite social and nice people to play with and try our best to come up top.
We want a friendly environment without animosity towards new, less or more skilled
players and guilds.

We also noticed lower tier servers are also have a few people staying behind because server pride and the love for the server. If you ever consider moving servers, how sad it may be, we would like to invite you especially.

We would welcome pug’s and gvg-er equally. But our main objective remains building our core with like minded players who enjoy interaction with players and achieving a certain goal as much as fights.
Community over skill because that comes with time and practice.

Our main goal is to rebuilt Gunnar’s Hold, to stabilize us as a silver league server and look ahead to see what we can achieve.
We want community focused people to join our server, cool people to enjoy the wvw game mode with.
Hence we have a PPT focus without going overboard on our borderlands.

We have some good Pug commanders leading our open raids.
We have our core guilds doing their thing on guild raids.
We have a core of experienced roamers annoying our opponents whenever possible.

Even after suffering from drainage we still hold a top tick at prime time and have decent fights vs outnumbered where we can hold our own.
On weekend nights we have Queues on EB and when we have a good thing going we can ramp the Queue up to 20+
We aim to create a community where everyone is appreciated.

If you feel like getting to know the nice community of GH or are thinking about transferring to a new server. You are most welcome

Current State of things:

As some might have heard Gunnar’s Hold has lost guilds to the gold league.
Some left for fights, some for glory, some for cold hard precursors and cash.
Some because WvW= Deded by blunt trauma…. Anet!
But Gunnar’s Hold isn’t the server to cry and rage about it on the forums, for too long.
Hear us out.

Some have noticed players overall being demoralized, as most servers have suffered drainage and the servers to come up top are the ones up top.
And even the top dogs are suffering. (as far as that is possible)

So…Is Gunnar’s Hold dead as some claim it is?
No.. Not at all actually.
Did we suffer one of the bigger hits on our population from HoT with most of our fighting guilds leaving?
Yes. It’s still hurting for some. Others see it as a chance to reboot and create something better.
Can Gunnar’s Hold Bounce back..?
Yes we can! We are doing it right now.
Are the roamers still here?
Yup. Most are and they are not leaving. Hurray for PPK
Is Gunnar’s Hold just gonna sit and mope?
No.

We are still doing our thing. Guild raids still happen, more commanders doing open raids for the server.
Defenders are prepping the towers to make the fighting for others go smooth and draw victims for our roamers.
We are actually working against the issues most servers below silver are dealing with.
We are all trying to have fun and win fights or trough PPT*K. We all aim to win some way or another.
We respect duelists, at times we still run over a few here and there but basically we aim not to interrupt.

We still got the touch:
We can fight uneven fights, defend against “impossible” odds with or without a tag to follow, learn and teach.

We lost:
Our animosity vs commanders or pugs in general and we strive to speak up against it.
Some of our raiding guilds and all of our GvG Guilds and our saltshakers.

We want:
