New game mode idea for WvW

Imagine if WvW can be turned into a mode. A mode that would put a defensive side and offensive side.

The defensive side would have to defend 3 castles and a certain amount of keeps. The castles do not connect internally but there is a starting point for the defensive side to rally behind the castles.

The offensive side on the other hand would have to only attack but setting certain camps or keeps as a safe hold for their rally.

Each side would consist of two servers each meaning two ally servers vs 2 other servers. Having commanders defend three castles that will be attacked.

The map wont be like WvW where its so open that you can skip the enemy or go getting points for taking empty castles or keeps without a fight. Both teams would be forced to fight of course one more defensively than the other.

Once that match is over then the teams will swap from defensive to attack and vise versus.

I hope Anet can take a look at this and maybe take it as a suggestion and add some thing like this with their great ideas and developers. It would probably bring back some players who knows.

It sounds like what you want is more of a linear map between 2 “teams”, where you can push back and forth. Sort of a map with a single big lane where each team starts on the opposite sides, and with structures, keeps, and towers etc closing off each area. Thus creating a “conflict zone” system, where people will be fighting over one specific tower or keep at a time.

If team A lose a keep, they have to fall back to the previous structure (tower for ex), and team B will get to hound them all the way, and start laying siege to the next structure (tower). This system gives less freedom but focuses/directs the action much more into these “conflict zones”. At the loss of the freedom of movement we currently have in WvW.

This kind of map would lead itself well to a handicap system, so at the center (SMC for ex) there would be 0 handicap, and everyone would be on an even standing. But the further back you get pushed, the more map-inherent handicaps you get. These can be anything from geographical advantages, to better siege spots, unique defensive siege, more or harder npc’s, or other dangers etc, like nasty bridges that creates focus points etc.

This could be so hard that at the very last structure 1-2 people might be able to hold of a single map blob. And that last structure should be super easy to retake for the “home team” at that side.

This system can also work with 3 teams actually, by forming the map into a Circle form, where you get to fight against both other teams, one on each front. And get pushed back to your last keep which guards the entry to your spawn. If you lose that, then you get pushed into a running retreat toward spawn with towers with more and more handicaps like above.


All of this could be done with a single map, without the need to change the game mode.

The above idea is based around keeps and towers completely blocking progress to the next area/zone, so you need to batter through it. Optional ideas for making only some of them lock access to other areas, so roamers can still scout around somewhat. For example make towers block roads but not keeps. And towers can have extra walls that can be catapulted down to bypass etc. This is a bit up to taste really.


If we where to make a own new mode, I think I’d rather see something more like a competitive variant of WvW, something like a 40vs40 planned game, where 2 teams line up, set a time/date, and meet up. And do a 2-3-4 hours battle on different maps. Either a SMC style siege, or a full on full fight in ruins or something.

Would let larger guilds and guild alliances try to be actually competitive in a WvW environment. Setup an make teams, train and setup comp, make plans, voice coms, organize etc. And then do a 2-4 hours Match against another equally determined enemy. Sounds much cooler than a pve raid, it would actually put in the elements WvW lacks to be considered competitive/sport etc.

this guys has the ideas of what I was thinking he said it better than I could imagine. This is what I meant and he perfected it . This would be an awesome idea, I rather battle it out than just run around taking empty castles .

The small highlights on the armor are nice touch, and the flaming shoulder pieces look awesome!

Would you consider tinting your paper? You could use white acrylics for his hair and highlights, and the colors would pop even more.

that sounds like an awesome idea, I do have spray paint acrylics I should try that thanks for the tip =D

Is Zerk Gear Really Optimal?

The right number you have to look for when wearing full zerk is 1300-1500 on your Toughness. What I do is I have a chest piece and an Ascended amulet of power , toughness, Ferocity. The rest is zerk gear all of it, and I run sigil of cruelty for ferocity buffing. So I have good defense while i dodge n roll and swing away with gs/hammer or sword/sh what ever you feel like running and you should even be safe running into a zerg and doing some hard damage. Good luck and go ham n your opponents!

Rev still not great for pvp

So maybe I hvnt figured out whats the best dps build for the rev is but im trying as much as I already know and it still feels as if the rev is useless for pvp, no evade skills your utilities cant be used if your knocked down or pushed back ? every thing gets interrupted. If any one can help and give some tips or clarity it would be great.

Lol guys I’m 23 , and I am sencir I just speak like that cause it’s how I feel about killing other classes I always work around nurfs but I think anet should of left warriors how they were a while back and I’m talking about last year but oh we’ll all men must change as well as gw2 .

Hi guys , iv never posted on gw forums before but since I have time now and saw this post with a lot of interesting post from experience warrior players I thought I would input my ideas . A little bit about me iv been a warrior since day one of guild wars a norn at that love it I look real af like a true warrior.

Here’s my thoughts , I got on read the patch and played I love running gs\hammer always have I love dps an smacking all weak classes so hard their dresses come off. I see my gs not bursting those beautiful crits all over the place and my whirl wind not leaving Mesmers on the floor with feathers scattered . So I decide to go hambow and it’s my first time running this and I was doing awesome doin good burst damage what I didn’t like was my waste of adrenal when I didn’t hit any thing with a burst. Why would you take a warriors main purpose “destruction” now you got rangers and other classes who can hold and evade bunch of stuff. It feels kinda clumsy because I some times use my f1 hammer to get away from a necros circle skill or Mesmers or ele don’t ask me their weak classes skill names cause iv never played them never will . I do like the brawlers trait better now works good versus condi thiefs . Warriors should be super op cause we r warriors with heavy armor made for war forget the rest . I still whoop that kitten tho =D

i got 65 % condition reduction i run 2 utilities that remove conditions regardless this confusion crap doesn’t let you land a single blow and not get damage back cant even heal its a retarted rune that unbalances the game your probly one of those people that run it

Remove this piece of … rune ! what skills comes from confusion the other player over and over with the same skill yet you try to heal and you get damage come on Anet im 1 day away from claiming this game a piece of crap on a few forums due to that Perplexity rune cant even play normal anymore wtf ! come on remove that rune its useless doesn’t make the game diverse like it as once.!

That is the exact build as far as my traits but I run with different skills and ax/horn offhand. I have signet of fury, berserker’s stance, for greater justice, and healing surge on my bar giving me 3 ways to get a full charge of adrenaline, permanent fury, and 3 permanent stacks of might.

I love ax as my offhand weapon because eviscerate hits nearly as hard as kill shot. So I find that is usually enough to finish someone that gets close to me in a zerg. Plus it 1 shots those silly glass cannon thieves that pop out of stealth with dagger storm.

If you are going for damage you might as well use ruby orbs instead of those divinity runes. You get twice the power, more precision, and the same crit damage as divinity runes…but you get 6 of them for like 50 silver instead of 40gold for the runes.

21k hits are just against undergeared or upleveled people. Against glass cannons your kill shots will usually hit in the 13-14k range unless they have vulnerbility or you have extra might stacks from your party. But that is enough to literally 1 shot thieves and elementalists that dont have a good bit of toughness/vit.

Hey lensar iv been following your build to the bone ,right now i just have rare berserker armor with majore runes of divinity and a rare berserker rifle with a manor sigil of damage hitting 9.4k max with ks how can i improve my crit damage on that , i always hit crit and if predator has some tips as well thank you ( i use this build for wvw)
