Not only that, Revenant has two underwater weapon slots yet can only wield a spear.
Is there some new underwater weapon I don’t know about? Is anyone else having this issue?
part of this was based off of the revenant initially being a single weapon set class. If you really need to do something with that, add another spear with a different stat set or sigil set to give you additional effects, otherwise, we may have only one weapon there
Can we get an update from a dev? We need to know if they’re going to buff this ability or not. It really needs it.
I don’t see how they need to buff that ability, as it is a mass spam move that doesn’t have a cool down. As its limited only by your energy, you can easily pull off 3 of those in a fight if you are just love tapping nearby foes as you go. In other words, do not expect a buff.
I think this was done to balance the numbers, I finished my elite, and it still cost 400 points in the end. I thought it was weird that the line had to use 65 to start too, but it balanced out in the end. The thing was, doesnt the rev elite have the same number of skills and traits to unlock like the other trees? This may be something related to how there are less skills unlocked for the rev though. I didn’t look when I finished the core lines to see if there was 5 points left over.
Beta weekend players, HoT worth it or not?

i will say that some of the specializations are in need of balancing, but i doubt it will happen. With not all specializations revealed and testable yet, I’m pretty accepting of what we’ve seen. If you are a fan of Guild Wars, then I don’t think you will regret getting the expansion. Keep in mind that the pvp and wvw aspects that are being added will be part of the expansion as well, though it hasn’t been stated to what extent will be expansion limited. With anet staying quiet on how the specializations will actually be unlocked to the player on the actual release, you may find yourself on a journey to get that greatsword necro (or maybe just be using those map completion hero points.) Anet did say that all the mastery stuff will be part of the expansion, so if you’re wanting to do all the legendary crafting stuff, you will need the expansion.
Now, onto the gameplay updates. There is new mechanics on the AI’s where you can stun them after hitting them with control effects. This is shown under the hp bar when targeting the mob. From what i’ve encountered, using this bar can be a lifesaver when fighting mobs of mordrem snipers. Line of sight has been updated, and aoes from mobs have become more distinct in some cases, but such attacks also are more powerful or disruptive. Position of hits has become more important, if you remember the beetles from drytop, you’ll see similar mobs, as well as new mobs that have invulnerability from certain directions. While the AI will still be AI, it will take more response and interaction in most cases to come out on top. Also, in some cases, your average zerk stats may not always be the best choice when fighting.
I’m not here preaching that the expansion is the endall for players, but it does add some new interaction to the mob fights that have become so lather/rinse/repeat over the last few years. As we, the player base, have only been allowed to view about 50% of what is in store for us, most of what we say here could change on a dime, so it falls to you to make the final decision if the xpac is worth the cost. However, i can say that I’ve payed more than i did for the xpack for full games, and found myself disappointed in said games. With what i’ve seen, there are things i don’t like, but I have found nothing that makes me regret my purchase
BETA weekend achievements [merged]

So I fully get that acheivements and items do not carry over from your beta characters onto your main account, but that brings forth this question. I noticed on my regular characters that there are achievements for beta weekends that can be seen. Now, I would like to know what the purpose of these acheivements are if they can only be gotten on the beta accounts, or will these be relabeled into maguuma acheivements in the future?
The purpose is to guide people to test out the events in Verdant Brink. By the time you’ve done both daytime meta event chains, you’ll have completed all of those achievements. Those achievements award mastery points which help players further test the masteries.
EDIT:
It’s seems like there a subset of players that absolutely need Anet to spell out everything to them to the most specific and minute detail. You have the same type of people that are here as in another where they’re arguing that despite what the HoT website is saying about us getting 4 maps, we’ll likely only be getting one at release with the others to be rolled out in future updates.
You know what… I’ll play along. Anet hasn’t stated how many story episodes we’ll be getting with the expansion. Actually, they haven’t really talked about it all that much at all. Since they weren’t as specific as everyone on here prefers, I say that we’re only getting the initial story instance that we saw in the beta and they’ll roll out the rest of the story in biweekly installments. You can’t prove me definitively prove me wrong just as I cannot definitively prove myself correct. Whether or not there being a lot of evidence to suggest that we’ll get more than one doesn’t matter because Anet hasn’t been specific enough. /sarcasm
This thing really doesn’t bother me too much, i just thought it was weird that the things were called Beta Acheivements and were visible all around, hence I was looking to see if this was just a placeholder or something, as it seems like everyone will have this uncompleted beta achievement tab in their hero menu if it stays there. I can see it being used as a test for mastery points through achievement like some other members mentioned in the thread, so I can understand the logic. Mostly, I’m just curious why they made the achievements have points if the things were going to be called Beta Achievements.

found my answer, the beta account is an image of your account at the time you created it. basically it gives us 2 accounts, our regular and a temp account, so i dont lose out on my dailies on my regulars, disregard teh question
Mkay, so i was WvWing with the Revenant in a zerg, and went into demon form with the elite skill. I came in contact with an enamy revenant also in demon form and suddenly the condi’s seem to amplify between both of us until we reached an ! point for bleeds, though it was less than an instant as we instantly went down. I have been trying to replicate this, but have not yet been successful, but if it happened once, it could happen again.
I understand the point of not being able to carry over rewards and progress on a beta character, but I want to get an exact answer. What happens to badges of honor that you may obtain while playing a revenant during the beta, will they be lost, or will they remain on the account. Also, i got my daily chests while playing, will the wvw xp that i get from those and the tomes of knowledge also be inaccessable at this point, if so, i may avoid playing the revenant until the day of, as i hate missing out on my dailies.
Bonus question:
If we get a precursor to drop while we are on a beta character, will we lose that precursor?
don’t have a screen cap, but same thing happened earlier when creating a character, seems to occurred after today’s build
As i made sure not to include names in the screenshots, it was not as much my intention to report the individuals here (though i did do the report function ingame) it was more of a request to see if Anet could do something to remove the exploit, like disabling the npc from picking up players or something, because that was the main reason they could keep gettting credit for 7 hours straight. (7 not being an exageration, was on the same map for that long, and the “afk’rs” in question were in that spot the entire time)
been on the Silverwaste for the past couple hours, and I noticed these two players AFK’ing next to the red fort. At first i thought they were just afk, but when I watched, i noticed that they were dropping utility skills on a timed set pattern, and regardless if they got killed, the npcs near the gate would revive them. They are getting credit for the events, as I have seen them get the skillpoint level flash on multiple occasions over the hour.
I have included screenshots of the location, and the situation.
i have yet to find a way to get melee attacks to hit the head at the moment, you would likely be able to hit him with the 1 skill with staffs, but outside of that, i dont see a way to hit it without range
event progression is bugged with the recent patch update, for the most part, it is unlikely that you can complete defeat, guard, or escort events in personal story and dungeons for the time being
event progression bugged in dungeons, personal story, living story that pertains to killing things or escorts. Happening everywhere, so the problem is not on the user end.
event progression bugged in most personal story, living story, and dungeons, anet working on a fix, but you will have to try again later.
event progress in pers story and dungeons bugged to high heaven, anet currently looking for a fix, but for the moment, try again later
advancement code is bugged, escorts, defeat x enamies, defeat all enamies, are not progressing, for the moment, try again later, but anet is trying to fix it
a lot of bugging out across dungeons and personal instances, something got BORKED this build
basically, its all dungeons and personal story instances that involve “defeat all enamies” “defeat x enamies” and the like, but all are bugged and not progressing, so thats like over 90% of all instances
this “defeat x foes” or “defeat all foes in _ area” seems to be broken in personal story instances, and dungeon instances, as both seem to have done the same thing and events will not trigger
you are not alone, all personal story instances are having this issue
wonder if this has anything to do with personal story instances bugging out on all the “kill all the _ in x area”
it seems all personal story instances where you have to kill everything in the area are super bugged out right now, as there are other personal story instances that are getting affected by this as well
Im having a similar problem with a different personal story instance, the Undead Infestation, the boss’s aoe continues to hit after the boss is dead, and picking up the item does not proceed the story like it should
Ok, so I have tried multiple ways to get around this, but nothing seems to be working. In the personal instance Undead Infestation, I go through and kill all the risen in the area. Once the boss dies, the next step to pick up the amulet off the corpse is activated. When you go and pick it up, the complete sound goes off, but nothing happens. The second step of the instance remains active, and flies continue to pop up on characters near the corpse of the boss. I thoroughly search the map to make sure that there are no more enamies left, and on each of the 6 attempts i have done trying different things to get around it, it just stops at that point, and talking to the npcs does nothing.
