Guild Wars 2

So, I, uh, did a thing. Here’s a story I’ve had floating around in my head for a few years now. The original (and mostly terrible) version I posted years and years ago on guildwars.incgamers, for all you old-schoolers who remember that site, lol. I like to think I’ve improved as a writer since then. I mean, I certainly can’t have gotten any worse. ZING!

Anywhoozle, this story begins during the first Guild Wars, for all you OG’s out there. I will try to update the story regularly, if anyone even cares, but I am also notoriously bad about making deadlines. Thanks for your attention!

So, after the update, I haven’t noticed much of a difference. The only time my pet will reliably use his skill on command is when I’m out of combat, which defeats the purpose of the skill. Even after this update, I have to keep my eye on the skill, hammering it in some cases to get it to work.

Has anything changed for you?

I’m just not a fan of how massively buffed-up the monsters in dungeons are.

I don’t find the longbow to be particularly great. Shortbow’s faster, and can REALLY stack bleeding.

My ranger gets destroyed in dungeons, as well. Though it doesn’t help that both my laptop and my internet connection suck. My best nugget of advice is to dodge out every time you get hit. Anything over three hits, and you’re probably down. Also, crowd control. Use stuns, daze, anything like that your class gives you access to.

Speaking of F2 abilities, my pets never want to activate them. I’ll be in a dungeon, hammering F2 over and over again because every time I press it, a moment passes and nothing happens.

As a note, male names rarely ever end in a vowel, and female names almost always do. These are all names that would probably be male because of that rule, so if you’re looking to create a female character, just add an ‘a’ at the end, an example being ‘Vexxa.’

Heh, I can speak for ‘Vexx’ from memory. Vexx, Voxx, Vixx, Vess, Voss, Vett, Vitt, etc. all taken. Thanks, though.

I spent two hours last night trying to come up with a great Asuran name. Or rather, I had dozens of great Asuran names already in my head, it’s just all of them were taken. I must’ve tried every good looking combination of a consonant, a vowel, and “xx.” After that, I tried more and more random combinations based on double consonant pairs (“ll, tt, zz, dd,” etc), trying to get anything that wasn’t taken. Then, I got disconnected and had to remake my character!

Anyone else experience similar troubles in trying to craft an Asuran name? I did notice that some of the spam in my mailbox (yes, there are gold-selling bots out there) had four letter names. I’m thinking that maybe bots “ate up” all the cool names I was trying to make, but this is only a thought. Then again, I can see why short four, five-letter names appeal to players and would be snatched up. The problem is, the Asura’s entire naming convention is based around short, sharp names! Worse come to worse, I can always slap a prefix like “Master” in front of it, to still keep it accurate, but I’ve yet to find a prefix I like.

I believe I’ve seen people selling it at straight vendor price. I’ve had no luck selling anything on trading post, when people seem so intent on actually LOSING money in a sell.
