@parktwig: Yea, I noticed that too, but when some of our players started to bash on SBI, I told them that it was most likely not the work of any organized guild or the the server, just one individual that did that. I told them to just file a report and to stop it at that; we can’t really do anything about those things.
Anyways, some good fights overall. I was just about to get off because I’m super sleepy, that and some commanders came on so I just turned off my pin. Warmachine was on in numbers of 15+ in addition to another guild and zerg totalling 30+ players, we didn’t have the numbers so we went on the defensive and protected our keep. We had insta-queue for the last few hours, but I noticed the night crew starting to log on as I got off. Hopefully JQ can keep the points through the night.
Good luck guys.
@ Destroyer: Ouch that matchup does not look fun. Maybe we’ll see you one of these weeks, or perhaps Sanctum of Rall and Sea of Sorrows jumps up and makes it a good one in tier 2.
Yeah, that was some great battles going on. We were split between who was the greater thread, SBI or IoJ, and we had some great battles trying to take back and keep the towers. SBI did a great job on blue borderlands holding two fronts and holding their half of the map.
Both servers were quick to rally whenever we tried to make a move, and there was a lot of strategic deployment and tactics being used all over the map (orange X’s everywhere) and it felt very intense and exciting for once.
I’ll say even though we are behind I’d much rather have this kind of fights in WvW than fighting against ghosts/empty keeps.
Keep fighting!
Lets keep this “civil” guys.
No complaints of double teaming, night capping, pvdooring, invisible rendering bugs or orb hacks in here. We can discuss that in another JQ, HoD, and SBI thread but keep this one to score updates and battle recaps and such.
Another Commander here, I decided it was worth it even though we already have competent commanders on the map. I’ve learned some new strategies is to not just lump the commanders but use them based on map strategy and splitting up zergs (if there are no other commanders).
People always think at first that you should be leading the zerg; you should actually be designating parties, groups to hit certain points, and to have a group of pugs following you where you need the main force to be. I tend to be non-partied, or I ONLY accept people in my party to be my scouts. That way when someone in my party says over teamspeak or party chat that they see 10 enemies or 15 enemies heading a certain direction, all I have to do is check their dot on the map and I deduce the enemy movements from that. Being a commander you have to know how to use your party dots to your advantage to lead the group that you control.
I’ve learned that this is a very efficient way of leading. Invite only people who are willing to not follow you in your party, and send them to scout or yak duty or watch a keep/tower. It will help tremendously.
Look up the superior rune of melandru set, or the superior rune of the knight/soldier?.
My guardian has around 17,000 hp, 1700+ toughness, 2900 power, around 25-30% crit chance and crit power 67%… I was wondering if I should drop the crit power for more crit chance (precision). I am using beryl orbs thats why… I think bumping up crit chance and lowering crit power would be a good tradeoff, I like all my other skills.
I am maxing the toughness and precision trait lines, with increased crit chance with one handed weapons by 15%. I have a good amount of survivability with double meditation build and save yourselves/reflective wall. I can take damage and dish out damage when in a group with people, and usually run with scepter or sword and shield.
I agree… I feel that eventually (at least in terms of WvW) everyone will flock to the top 5-6 servers… not necessarily because they want to win, but because they want to play with actual people and not just hit doors and npcs.
I also wanted to give a shout out to some of the guilds on JQ just so they can be recognized on here (I know I’ll miss some but I’m sure I’ve seen you guys or at least know of you).
[TW] Tempest Wolves- a very elite guild of good players, usually Charr/Asura, Indo/Daboss/Pico
[JP] Jagapotatoes, but they are mostly japanese. Pretty cool
[WPAK] I forgot the name, but I just remember the Golem commander Hawthorne
[ESOL] Elite Solidarity: My guild, Rawnoodles and and Vaen Naeth the leaders
[FIRE] A big guild with the commanders Agress and Aress, their voices are renowned on TS3
[MMAC]Mixed martial arts and crafts: Meenace and Bluntaki, a very big presence on battlegrounds
[DC] The korean guild that we can’t really communicate with that well but comes on in the morning
[FS] Fong Shen, I also can’t really communicate with them but I THINK they are Chinese… dunno.

It was fun while it lasted, while its definitely a good frustration, I am glad there are still guilds on HoD like GIN and PRX that are still giving us a good run in the last few days, although the action has died off a little since yesterday. Also for FOO/FOER from ET for hitting anybody no matter what.
And also RUIN on ET for what someone mentioned earlier “Mongolian tactics” by farming karma. ET lacked the numbers on all maps, so RUIN just gathered ALL their forces and just zerged each map, took over points, then changed maps. As much as we can frown upon it since it does provide the “X factor” in the 3 way matchup, I have to say I’m sure they are having fun doing that.
I have noticed a couple or so new people in BGs popping over from other servers, and perhaps a former hoD or 2. Its to be expected, even though it changes up things. It was fun trying to beat HoD, but I guess at this point with TA breaking, and people transferring out, its kind of anti-climatic for JQ who worked so hard to try to beat or at least come close to beating HoD at its prime. Nevertheless it was worth it in the end.
We have been getting better Pug/guild support on WvW, from having people escort yaks, people scouting on different parts of the map and upgrading things on their own, and donating to each other. We are still having issues with people listening and getting on teamspeak and instead following the zerg, but by the time people get all their pvp gear from badges and karma they need, hopefully the ones who stay in WvW start to contribute more to pvp effort.
Well, on HoD borderlands there are 60-70 HoD (we did a number count with scouts, could be more) and we had around 10 ET and only 20-30 JQ on this morning around 6AM PST.
HoD had a force of 30 hitting Shaderan hills and a group of 20-30 hitting Dreadfall bay.
Our queues are all insta-que for all Borderlands. Its rough trying to rally people when you have only 25 people max on your map.
WvW is beyond borked (when one server owns 95% of the map all week)

I 358th that notion of FREE SERVER TRANSFERS NEED TO END.
This is very bad, I can’t see anything when being attacked. We were fighting 20-30 invisible people and we had no idea how far they were pushing into our group until after we were all dead. And even then it took a few minutes before they all rendered.
I mean it’s inevitable to use another army attacking as an advantage… it makes sense to both hit at the same time as we had a full force inside. Even though we could manage to hold off either one, we didn’t have the numbers to hold off two. If it were up to me however if I were either HoD or ET commander, I’d do a recon/intel check on the other zerg/army to make sure that when the gates were down we’d have the upper advantage to take the keep.
I think we’ve had success only 1/3 times we try to ninja a keep before, but its worth it.
Speaking of which did we get dreadfall bay back? Any updates on map for HoD BLs?
Yeah, all the exploitation is in the hands of a few small group of individuals, who are probably not from the larger reputable guilds. I don’t think we should put the blame on the servers as a whole, but rather this should be fixed on anet’s part. Hopefully they fix it or just remove the orbs altogether.
Good hit on the dreadfall bay, by both HoD and ET…. we had such a hard time keeping both sides of the walls up against multiple pushes on north and south side (it was funny seeing them run into each other on the bridge though).
The orb being taken out of our fortified/reinforced keep:
http://imgur.com/a/vxIYf
That’s unfortunate. I was standing next to our orb for 3 hours waiting to FRAPs that, but I had to log out to do some chores. I wish I could have gotten that on video.
Oh wells, apparently the orb exploit is happening on other servers too.
Please FIX the borderlands waypoint... we keep getting logged out

Everytime our players try to leave the waypoint, we get stuck in the loading screen forever. WE aren’t able to get back in and have to requeue. This is a MAJOR bug. A lot of our commanders got logged out right after trying to leave the waypoint.
PLease address this, I don’t know if this is only specific to our server. We’ve lost 20-30 people at a time just because they couldn’t get out of the spawn area without getting logged out.
Well from the looks of it the remains of TA (from what I heard around 9 guilds out of 16?) is transferring to Blackgate.
If that is indeed true (rumors are just rumors), then it may indeed be a match between ET and JQ. HoD may just fall down to the bottom unless other guilds step up to take the leadership of HoD.
Kinda disappointed, but I guess it’ll be mostly a battle between ET and JQ. Here’s to hoping thats not true and we have a good battle between all 3 servers.
lol while that is true, I think we’re also confusing spies with saboteurs; which essentially could be somebody friendly fire (thank goodness we don’t have FF in mmos usually), or somebody on your side blowing themselves up or letting the enemy team into the gates/barracks/defenses.
I guess when it comes down to it, any server can essentially free transfer (which is why we probably need to limit this) and just sabotage the supplies, but thats to someones free will and time to do that, unless they have multiple computers and accounts. It also takes a noticeable amount of effort to go and screw up another server, and I haven’t seen anything to the large extent of someone completely screwing up a keep because they used up all the supplies to build flame rams.
I do have to say that I was accusing someone of taking supplies from tower and then building a flame ram on the wall, and called them out (even though it seemed to be a japanese player and perhaps did not understand english). Later I saw them build an arrow cart in a strategic position on the wall later, and we concluded that perhaps they put down the wrong blueprint and didn’t realize they were building the wrong siege. That or they were new and didn’t know what a blueprint was and just got it from jumping puzzle (or didn’t know what a flame ram is).
Although I would say seeing 5-10 flame rams in the middle of a field somewhere is most likely deliberate sabotage.
Yeah I think they woke up, as when I checked there were 40-50 HoD AND SBI on both fronts hitting both keeps after that screenshot was taken. That and our server commanders left to hit HoD Borderlands in order to mix up the green that covered the map.
We have scouts too, but I think scouts would have to be trusted guildies or super dedicated pugs. Being a scout when you are fairly new to WvW is somewhat boring, although the honor and the sense of contributing is priceless when a scout reports something that the guilds/commanders can use effectively.
Scouts should have a basic patrol route, and rotate with the main group(s) so that everyone gets a piece of the action.
@Chewy… that doesn’t make sense. If SBI is losing to JQ, wouldn’t they be bumped down to tier 2 next week (assuming ET gained enough ELO to move up past SBI).
Anyways, here’s to hoping we have a good match next week with HoD, JQ, and ET. If HoD still have numbers and strength after the CND guild disbanding, we may have to team up to dethrone HoD for once. But we’ll figure it out then. But I’m thinking JQ might be able to fare now against HoD, but we’ll see.
Zierk, if you think about it, there will ALWAYS be spies in a war. Its up to how you deal with it and how its countered that determines which team will be at an advantage (theoretically you could send someone to a server and build their reputation and join a top guild, just to relay information secretly on voice chat or other communications… its hard to catch sometimes and not as easy as just an unguilded never before pug standing there afk or building flame rams in open field).
I think we can actually use spies to our advantage, by making use of commander/guild chat private voice channels, and false information to confuse and throw off the other team. Counter-intelligence can be used to gain advantage and perhaps even discredit the validity of spy intel.
Zhonnika, I’m surprised you got that picture of me in the jump puzzle just as I activated my pin for a couple minutes to show my IRL friend. So embarressing… lol.
Anyways, that was a really good strategic use by SBI and HoD of each other, both pushed our keeps at the same time… I thought we would have lost both but those reinforced walls on DB and the new waypoint gave us enough time to get in and hold it. We knew we had to give up one or the other. Meanwhile we had 20 PRX attacking watergate and porting people onto the walls in garrison… thats one dedicated mesmer as we had garrison for over 8 hours.
