I’d LOVE to see the option to pay more in gems to unlock armor skins for the account.
Since we now have an unlocking mechanism in place for achievements, where we can collect weapon skins to apply as we like, perhaps something similar can be implemented for collecting unlocked armor – be they unlocked in game or purchased through the gem store.
In an ideal world paying the current price would suffice in unlocking sets for the account, but that defeats revenue.
I suggest continue trade of armor skins as one-off purchases for individual characters, but add a higher purchase price to unlock for the account?
Thoughts?
I hope I’m not repeating someone else’s idea!
I still don’t have my glow back, and don’t feel I should have to buy another kit to fix it. I don’t want to change anything else on my characters but restore their glow!
Actually I’d be really happy just to get the 20-slot bag!
I’m not too worried about precursors – that’s always just a RNG gamble and I’d never expect to be that lucky even if I hadn’t got disconnected before the end of the event. For me, I just like to have a nice memento of each event, and if it is something genuinely useful like a 20-slot bag so much the better.
So Anet – if you could put an NPC up at Pride Point giving out the 20-slot bags, or email them to people who have had connection problems etc then you will have regained one happy customer.
This is my feeling, too. I missed out on the chest, and I’m sad about that. Client crashes and game updates got in the way, but I’ll live. I’d still like something more than a mouldy bag as a memento for participation.
I got two ferries into overflows in my attempts to participate in this event. I was too ecstatic at the time to thank the people who helped me. So, if you happen to recall ferrying Neobe into an overflow for this event, THANK YOU!
Sadly, I never saw the end of the ancient karka, and I remain very dejected by the lack of experience. What I did get to play was awesome, though, as were the rest of the people playing with me. Thanks for making the most of a sorry situation with me!
I was in there with you I think, and was booted at the same time. I’ve been trying all day to get into this event and was having such an awesome time! What a great bunch of people we had!
Alas, client crash.
Much as I’d like a chance to see this chest, mostly I just wanted to play the event – and I guess I got to see a fair portion of it, which is yay!
Still, really sad that my last chance also broke. Poop.
First off — the t1 sylvari light armor is definitely cool looking. Really cool choice, in my opinion, there for a sylvari character.
So, reasonably, I should buy/craft armor to match my level and transmute to keep my cultural skin – but I’m confused about the stats. Why does a level 35 set of armor have stats comparable to ~50?
Tier 1 cultural armor has the same stats as level 35 rare armor, as it is level 35 rare armor. For example, the shoulder piece has +10 condition and +7 precision in that sylvari set. If you take a gander at other rare shoulder pieces at level 35, they likewise have +10 in their primary stat and +7 in their secondary.
If you compare it to level 50 blue or even green armor, perhaps it might seem similar, but it is not.
As for the scaling, the way I have come to understand it is about how it sounds like you are thinking — if you have armor that’s a few levels below your level, when you get scaled down it will scale down relatively as well and be a few levels below your scaled level. Likewise those with solid gear at their level should scale up fairly well when dropping into WvWvW or, for example, the Halloween events we had.
Personally, I haven’t encountered any issues with armor scaling in lower-level areas; things die pretty easy when you have more traits and all that available. Hopefully it’s not messing you up much, as I imagine that could be frustrating. In any case, I wouldn’t worry about it, especially not immediately like at level 36. Heck if I had rare armor at 35 I’d probably keep going with it for a while longer than I normally do [normally just stick with blue and green when leveling, don’t see a lot of point, aside from skins that look cool, to dump money into rare or exotics until later in the game] before worrying about upgrading it.
Thank you for your help here! Clearly I need look some more into the armor rarity as well, because I’d completely missed that distinction! Which, now that you’ve explained it, makes perfect sense. My spiffy level 35 armor really is still level 35, I just need to find infinitely more spiffy armor of the same, or better, rarity to stop turning into dredge pate. Because I was dying like it was the new black there for a while, despite believing my armor was still spiffy – because I was in areas 15+ levels below!
I feel all edified and such! Thank you!
I’m probably going to embarrass myself by not understanding a few things that may be plain and simple to everyone else, but bear with me!
At level 35 I blew my small fortune on sylvari light armor – it looks awesome, and I love it. Further, the stats were nifty as heck! I figured I’d be set well into my 50s without having to upgrade.
I was mistaken, however, because of the curiosity that is armor scaling. I.. don’t understand the mechanics of it, but I’m guessing that while I’m still playing in lower areas (which I have been) my armor doesn’t so much scale down with my level, but actually below it if my armor level doesn’t match my character level. If someone could confirm/deny/explain that, I’d love to know more.
So, reasonably, I should buy/craft armor to match my level and transmute to keep my cultural skin – but I’m confused about the stats. Why does a level 35 set of armor have stats comparable to ~50? Especially if, at level 36 those stats are suddenly null and void (if I understand correctly)?
I feel really confounded by the idea of having to ‘upgrade’ and lose stats, since I can’t swap to level 40 armor and keep the cultural stats – level and stats are connected, yes?
For the sake of survival, I’ll start upgrading with downgrades (twitch), but I’d like to understand the method in this apparent madness! Wouldn’t it make infinitely more sense if level 35 cultural armor had level 35 stats, so upgrades would be upgrades and not downgrades?
A few insights would be great! So would any suggestions.
[Elementalist] Swapping into Air attunement causes character to auto attack nearest mob
Posted by: amyty.6389
Adding my voice to this thread, with another plea that something either be done to fix the bug, or an explanation of why it might not be a bug. I switch to air for a speed boost, but wind up with half the map chasing me, and my boost reduced to a crawl as a consequence of attacks/attackers.
Or, switching to air in a group event to land some vulnerability on a boss, only to inadvertently attract neutral targets to my location by the droves. It’s a bit embarrassing dying by rabbits (1) in a group event.
(1) may be hyperbole

Also an issue on Tarnished Coast!
I would love to have the option to create a chat channel that is ‘invite only’. I’ve encountered it in other games and it was so useful for chatting with small groups without the din of /map or /say or /guild. Something that crosses worlds so people from anywhere can chat freely. Whispers are great between two people, but a small group that aren’t in a party.. I’d just love love love! to have this feature!
My guild is full of trade chatter these days, and the actual conversation is dying or being smothered by it. This could be a great solution to this, and probably many other communication problems!
I try to run a support ele during events, dropping group heals whenever they recharge. During events where I do a lot of healing, even if I’m there from the outset, I sometimes only get a bronze contribution. It doesn’t feel very fair, since of lot of those damage dealers wouldn’t be doing much damage if it weren’t for their support-specced characters helping to keep them alive.
I agree, this issue could do with a little more balance, or at least greater recognition of what constitutes a contribution.
