If you’re going to revive a week-old thread, it bears noting that the top post has bad misinformation about how stats work in GW2. In particular the claim that you might double your damage going from 1k to 2k power on your gear is wrong.
The claim is correct, the Attack value in Characterscreen which show Weapondmg + Power is completely useless for the damage calculation.
When you go from 1k power to 2k power, you WILL do double dmg
As you can see in the damage formula, power is multiplied with weapon damage: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage
How should I answer “3. Will you continue to buy gems after introducing new tier of items ?” when I never bought gems, nor ever planned to buy gems?
You can’t get a good result with questions like this.
Also “I don’t mind any” answer is missing on first question.
That’s not really correct what you are calculating there.
Base Power is 916
Power from full Berserker’s is 1001
Precision from full Berserker’s is 696
Critdmg from full Berserker’s is 62%
Power from 5x Scholar Rune + 1x Divinity is 175
Precision from 1x Divinity is 10
Critdmg from 5x Scholar Rune + 1x Divinity is 10%
Traits on a glasscannon build might give around 300 power, 200 precision, 20% critdmg (just an example)
So you get:
2392 power
906 precision above base
92% critdmg above base
906 precision are around 43% critchance +4% base critchance = 47%
Average dmg with crits compared to without crits: 0,47*1,42 + 1 = 1,6674 = 1,67
When Ascended gear increases gear stats by 8% that’s: 80 power and 56 precision. Critdmg seems to increase more (look at the bonus on MF, let’s say it’s same increase on critdmg in worst case, so ~42%) -> Critdmg would go to 26% (I actually doubt it’ll be THAT much)
So you will have 2472/2392 = 1,0334 -> 3,34% increased dmg cause of power and
0,5*1,68 + 1 = 1,84
-> 1,84/1,67 = 1,10 = 10% increase cause of crits
-> 1,0334*1,10 = 1,137 -> 13,7% increase at most (when critdmg really increases by a freaking 42% and not 8%)
Get your facts straight!
Edit: In case that critdmg increases by 8% like the other stats, you get:
0,5*1,47 + 1 = 1,735
→ 1,735/1,67 = 1,0389
→ 1,0392*1,0334 = 1,0739 → 7,39% dmg increase

You should also check, if you got the Level 5 trait in Defense, which gives you 100 Toughness when above 90% HP, this might be the problem.
I run a setup based on Yojack’s Sword/Warhorn build even with Greatsword, since it offers respectable damage combined with really good sustain + party support:

Not really sure about weaponsigil yet though. Even without the Superior Sigil of Strength I am usually at around 15-20 Might stacks, so not sure if it’d be worth using. So atm I just use the Sigil of Force for the +5% damage.
The dps shouldn’t be lower than with 25 points in strength, since you get 10% dmg bonus against bleeding foes (= same as 10% more Greatsword damage trait).
Without any points in Arms or Strength you should be around 1850 power (+average 8 stacks of might without the GS trait/sigil = 280 power), 58% crit chance with fury, 53% crit damage
So compared to no crit chance and the base 916 power, you deal:
(1850 + 280)*(1+0,58 *1,03)/916 = 3,71
When you add 250 points of Power, 4.4% dmg from Stick and Move, 10% greatsword dmg and 12% from full adrenaline, you get:
(1 + 0,044 + 0,1 + 0,12)(1850 + 280 + 250)(1 + 0,58*1,03)/916 = 5,25
When you add 250 points of Precision, 10% damage vs bleeding foes and around 8 stacks might from Forceful Greatsword, you get:
(1 + 0,1)(1850 + 280 + 280)(1 + 0,7*1,03)/916 = 4,98
-> With the strength Trait you get around 5,25/4,98 = 1,054 times as much = 5,4% more base dmg than with Arms
BUT:
With so many stacks of might (condition dmg), even the procced bleeds from trait do some dmg (not soooo much tbh, it’s around 80dps, so at a normal mob around, where you pull around 2.5-3k dps it’s like 2-3% more overall dmg) , More Crit chance = more chance to proc On-Crit-Effects from sigils, also you get 20% less CD on your GS skills (especially Whirlwind Attack is a beast, when an enemy stands at a wall)
Imo Arms wins hands down over Strength, at least when you can spend 25 points instead of 20 (for the 10% more dmg against bleeding foes…which is basicly always)

Ah thanks, its working now.
BTW, how would you modify it if I wanna go with axe/horn and rifle with berserker gear?
No modifying needed, you can use it just as it is or use the Vulnerability on crit trait instead of Crackshot.
For Greatsword, just switch out the Crackshot for the Greatsword trait (might on crit and 20% less CD) and the Warhorn trait for Shouts recharge 20% faster.
The 25 points in Arms are very versatile and grant you a good amount of damage with every weapon (bleed on crit and 10% more dmg on bleeding foes is awesome). The 15 in def and 30 in Tactics grant you good sustain combined with the benefits of 30% boon duration.
That’s why I say, you can make this build work like a charm with nearly every weapon, but imo works best with Sword/Warhorn, Greatsword and Axe/Warhorn.
That’s basicly what I am running when I am on Greatsword, just with On my Mark instead of Frenzy and II in the Defense line instead of I.
I really like this Trait assignment of 0/25/15/30/0 (first published by Yojack I guess), since it offers a lot of defense combined with decent offense and you can use it with many weapon sets with just changing the Major Traits.
I usually run it with Sword/Warhorn (like Yojacks original build), Axe/Warhorn or like you do with Greatsword.
You also can trait a bit towards either longbow or rifle in 2nd Weaponset, if you wish so.
I tried many different specs and imo this setup is the best for general PvE/WvW, since no respec needed and it offers pretty much everything you desire.
Which is better: 10% more GS dmg+100 Pwr or 10% Crit dmg with Heightend Senses?

10% crit damage is not much, even at 100% crit and without any other source of crit damage, it equals to around 6.7% damage increase, since a crit will do 160% instead of 150% damage then -> 160/150 = 1,067
Since you should have:
1. crit damage from other sources
2. less than 100% critchance
the 10% crit damage gets even worse.
The 100 power more will grant you a boost of like 5% already in an average power-based build. (taking 2000 Power as base, 100 more equals 5% more power -> 5% more damage)
So the 100 power + 10% more dmg is better than the crit damage hands down.
Edit: just realized you mentioned the heighted senses aswell. So to tell you which is better there, I’d need to know how much critchance, power and critdmg you got without the last 10 points you want to spend….I doubt that it’ll make the big difference though.

Hey Yojack, thanks for the build Idea. I am using it aswell, even I wear a way more defensive armor (Soldiers Armor, Knight’s Weapon + Rings, Valkyrie Earrings/Amulet + all Jewels), which makes me really tanky with this.
Anyway, what I wanted to suggest is to use Berserker’s Jewels, since compared to raw attributes, the crit damage on those is much higher than on other items.
Example:
1H weapon: 90 main attribute, 64 minor attribute, 5% crit damage (instead of minor) -> 0,078125% crit damage per Attribute
Jewel: 25 main attribute, 15 minor attribute, 3% crit damage -> 0,2% crit damage per Attribute
This means that the ratio on jewels is 2,56 times as high as on a 1H weapon for example.
So on jewels in more or less every build it is the best to use crit damage -> use Valkyrie or Berserker’s there.
with my current Build my bleeds last 15 seconds :x and my Flurry does decent damage im in love with my bleed stacking warrior and will not stop anytime soon ^^
15 seconds on Flurry bleed? seems legit…
@Topic: At level 3 Adrenaline, the skill does 12 stacks of bleeding over 3 seconds (with +50% bleed duration trait), which equals to 1440 dmg without condition damage already + the normal damage.
With 1000 Condition damage it’s already 3240 damage from the bleeds (armor ignoring + immobilize!)
I don’t think that this sounds weak.
My settings:
Skills on bar: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, mouse, F1, F2, F3, F4
Class skills: F5, F6, F7, F8
Dodge: mouse
Note: I got a keyboard with quite near together F-keys (F8 is still left up of the 8 key)
