Guild Wars 2

I was really excited when I read a pre-patch interview with the developers that stated that we’d be able to earn World XP doing all the things we normally do in WuvWuv. I thought that that was fantastic news because it meant that I could just play normally and go up the ranks like anyone else.

But I logged in today, and was excited to do the things I normally do, which is go around repairing doors and walls, or building those burning oils on a freshly captured keep, only to quickly find out that I wouldn’t get any World XP for doing so. And that’s hugely disappointing for me, because my goal in WvW isn’t to be the biggest baddest commander/strategist, I just want to someday be able to play my engineer and have the title of “Ultimate Technician.” (I’m still at 0% on that overall, :P)

And I can’t even honestly claim to understand if you say it’s because you were worried about players exploiting it to gain rewards faster, because it’s not like we can damage our own keeps or destroy our own siege. There are far worse exploitation problems right now, because all the players on my server quickly learned that you got more WXP if you let the enemy server take our keeps and then just take them back after they’re gone.

And I think it’s a shame, because I think this update is brilliant, and it’s something that WvW has needed to help keep players engaged and interested. But it’s hard for me to really enjoy the new content when the only way I can get the WvW upgrades I want is to play in ways I don’t really enjoy.

As someone who adored that instance of the economy being rebalanced, (I could finally sell Iron Ore to other players w/o losing money!) I keep hoping you guys will do stuff like that again. It’s a personal thing, but I hate selling crafting supplies to vendors because I’d be selling at a loss on the TP, when I know that people could be using the mats that I’m essentially destroying. Are there any plans to do more limited-time mystic forge recipes like that again, or was that a one-off experiment?

My guildmates and I were fooling around in Divinity’s Reach and started trying to figure out where we could jump to if we tried. The three of us who landed on a weathervane all turned into quaggans to taunt the others, and had some……… interesting physics

P.S : Shout to other AR player, is it me or more then half our WvW population seems to be underleveled? Each time we form a guerrilla group, we have really low level people with us. I feel lucky if I can get one level 80 in my group.

I’ve noticed this as a BP player, several times over the past few weeks I’ve been in fights with AR players I killed really quickly, and I could only assume they were actually quite low-leveled. I know that my guild has a bunch of players who are always in WvW with their alts because you can level up quite quickly, it may be that it’s just more widespread on AR?

Anyway, I’ve really enjoyed the match so far! I love it when things are really close, it makes it exciting.

I’ve noticed this bug a lot, because I’m often doing guild fundraisers for WvW, and what I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t matter what mail I delete, I don’t receive mail until I delete mail. Period. I randomly deleted a mail yesterday, and promptly discovered 3 gold seller mails as well as some mail from friends, but I only received them one at a time as I deleted other mail. I’ve not tried deleting all the NPC mail, maybe doing that will allow me to receive mail normally, I will have to try it tonight.

After defending Stonemist for like 3-4 hours today, I can safely say that this matchup has been awesome and amazing. This has just been so much fun

I was really hoping there would be an awesome Halloween pistol skin, I only use pistols, so I’m kind of sad. I was actually surprised that there are so many new weapons/skins, but no pistols

I’m actually really sad, I used to do jumping puzzles as a quaggan. In addition, you can do the costume brawl as any other creature, but not a quaggan? It’s sad.

Okay, let’s be honest here: Was I annoyed when I stayed up till midnight PST in hope of the halloween event only for nothing? A bit, I was more amazed at the total lack of information given. Absolutely no one had a solid answer on when it would begin. But really? We’re getting a ton of free content for a game with no subscription fee, with plenty of stuff we won’t have to pay a dime for. Yeah, I feel really bad for the guys that took off work only to find out they wouldn’t get the update until tonight, but it’s not the end of the world.

Dear Ehmry Bay,

I had a ton of fun fighting in the Borlis Pass borderlands against you guys yesterday. We’d fight over towers and keeps, trading them back and forth, we had a 2+ hour long siege at the Garrison, it was awesome! Honestly, I don’t care that we’re losing, because I had tons of fun. Also, that moment where you guys had taken the orb from our garrison and were actually attacking the hills again, and brought 2 siege golems and we held you off in the keep lord room? One of my highlights for the night.

Borlis Pass member here, I have to take my hat off to Kaineng, you guys put up an amazing fight last night. RMA, that was an extremely well executed attempt to take the hills in the Borlis Pass BL in the first 10 minutes, I’m really sorry my guild had been on its way south on that side and had to wipe you out. I actually spent most of the night at a supply camp, calling out when people were invading or sneaking around, but what I saw was that there was a lot more organization and cooperation on your server this time around and that’s awesome. In all honesty, I hope that you guys keep getting better because it’s always more fun to root for an underdog, even when I’m on the opposite side.

It’s very annoying not knowing when our guild should assemble and get ready. Last week we didn’t know till 4:20ish that reset was delayed till 5. This week, we had no indication whether or not it would be 4 or 5, and people started to freak out that we’d started 2 week matches with no warning. I know that we’d all appreciate either regular updates in the forum or even better, an in-game timer of some sort showing how much time is left in the current match.

We have a commander in our guild, and there have been several times when he toggles off the icon, because we’re just strategizing with siege weaponry and don’t want a huge crowd of random people. Hilariously, you can turn the icon on in PvE areas, which is great because people start freaking out.

Speaking as an evil Borlisian, I have to say, I have been super-impressed by how hard you guys on Kaineng fight, there may not be as many of you, but you all definitely fight until the bitter end

Honestly, I think this sounds like a really cool idea for people who want to pop on and do some WvW, but don’t want to wait through a seemingly endless queue to do so. If you want to help out an under-represented server, you can choose to do so and get into WvW right away. Yeah, you’re helping a different server, but isn’t the whole point of games to have fun and play, not feel like you’re stuck waiting for the line to get to you?

I just want to say, I’m from Borlis Pass, and Kaineng? Those were some fantastic fights last night in Eternal, I had a huge amount of fun. I was really quite impressed with how you’d defended the Kaineng Overpass, there’s a reason my group of 4 backed off and started building trebuchets.
