I just learned of this 5 seconds ago. I would be nice if a search in forums for “mac” had actual results. If i search “mac” after i post this, this post will be the only result. /rant

This is really great news about a native mac client. Not having to reboot in Windows to avoid crashing every hour on the hour would be amazing.

but Mac users have a more basic issue: the game crashes when you do group content. Will it be fixed?

The same problem still exists. The sad truth is it isn’t really ArenaNet’s problem to fix, they selected cider(RIP)/transgaming to make the mac client who it turn is using wine32 in cider. As far as I can tell they are still using a kind of old version of wine.

If ArenaNet was really serious about their mac client maybe they would work with the Wine folks to come up with a good solution. It could probably done with 2 or 3 skilled programers as a full time job.

Farming it out to Transgaming or Codeweavers doesn’t seem to really work for anyone. Wargaming (World of tanks has Codeweavers do their Mac client and it’s a mess too.

This of course is pure speculation on my part. They may already have dedicated staff on the Mac client. It may be a “buy our SDK and make your port” scenario instead of just “farming” it out to a third party. I still don’t believe it’s unsolvable.

On my machine I sometimes experience the same, but, in my case if i force quit GW2, and relaunch it works fine. This happens maybe 1 out of 20 times. Your problem sounds more serious.

If this was my issue i would do the following.

I would suggest making a Time Machine back up of your computer. You really should be doing this already anyhow.

Erase your computer and reinstall the OS. Don’t restore from time machine, then install GW2 and test it.

By doing this, you’re testing is to see if there is any other software weirdness that’s preventing GW2 from running as expected.

If it still doesn’t work its a game issue that will need to be addressed by ArenaNet. but don’t hold your breath. You could always use Bootcamp.
