Hi Asp,

I’m Bane from the wonderful Tarnished Coast and I have to say I think we’re a fantastic server and may be what you’re looking for. Though we’ve historically been a very high population server we’ve had several guilds leave over the last month or two and now our coverage although very good is definitely diminished from 8 weeks ago.

Allow me to address your points above:
*Med-High Population: Enough for zergs, but room for roaming as well.
-We are a high population server and we have great guild groups that can organize very powerful and effective zergs. That being said, we have a very real need for more small guild groups and roaming groups as a lot of people prefer to follow the commanders on the map. If you bring a group that likes to roam, flip camps, and distract with distant towers and objects that would really help our server.

*Less “political” drama in WvW.
-We have NO drama here in TC compared to any other server I’ve seen or been on. The guilds get along very well, I love the community mumble (there’s some hilarious folks on there and it’s a good social time). Guild groups work together, and the militia is willing to follow and assist as well.

*Overall friendly server.
-See my notes above but we are a super social server. We sometimes have Dolyak parades to celebrate the greatness of the Dolyak on Thursday nights, and there’s occasionally a drunken karaoke hosted by STUN or PINK guilds.

*Room for growth.
-TC has historically been sitting at 4th place for some time. FA and SOS have both gotten tons of guild recruitment lately and as a result Tier 2 is very competitive, the most it has been in months. We can hold our own against T1 servers, though we don’t have the coverage to beat them through the week we can certainly win some battles and don’t roll over and die when we face them.

*Overall good server communication.
- We have weekly server meetings, a server mumble that is shared and used by pretty much every guild on TC. Commanders have a special way within mumble of talking to eachother directly so that communication is quick and impactful.

Overall, I love TC, would recommend it to any and everyone. We have been on a bit of a recruiting break until recently because tier 2 was not balanced. Now that FA and SOS are challenging TC for real it is time for us to again prepare for good battles and take our opponents very seriously.

I’m currently looking for a new WvW Server because HoD is a dying breed of players. But, the server I want to transfer to, HAS to be great at WvW. I would be looking for a guild with very active WvW’ers all times of the day who are very skilled at 25+ open fights and also good at 3-5 man roamers trying to make the difference when necessary. Does Tarnished Coast have what I’m specifically looking for? Mail me in game.

Yes you can for sure find that on TC. We have several guild groups that run 25+ and love open field combat. I’m going to put in a sell here for my guild STUN which I think sounds like a good fit based on what you’re looking for above. Please feel free to PM me sometime (Banelene). I have been on TC for about 5 months now and was on 2 different servers before TC. TC has by far the best community and the most fun while staying competitive. If you want to join BG or SOR because you want to ride on their coattails, go for it you’re probably not who we’re looking for. But if you want to be competitive without losing your sense of self, join TC. If you want to join a good group, working to get better, join TC. We have weekly training sessions led by Commander Jadon and are always willing to offer advice. Join TC, if you dare.

Agreed can we re’bring this up?

I too would like an ANET repsonse on this one; I never have used a macro for fear of being banned but it is a bit absurd, in my opinion, to deny us chat macros.

In addition to chat macros, how about fixing the chat suppression issue for commanders as well? As a commander I am often supressed for 30 minutes to as much as an hour or two. It is very difficult to lead an organized group that is not on voice comms without being able to type to them.

Overview:
1. ANET please decide if chat macros are ok
2. Fix/address chat suppression for commanders

Seriously though thank you Devin; people get too serious and sometimes a response out of left field helps to humanize you guys!

I definately play on both but would consider EB my favorite. I think you hit on some key points but here are a few reasons I like EB:

1. Open field battles — This is the main reason I love EB. With a larger map and more objectives it is more frequent that zergs/blobs encounter eachother on the move which leads to epic 50+ V 50+. I love big battles especially as a commander.

2. WXP – With more objectives to take I find that I get more WXP, generally, in EB as there is often something undefended that can easily be flipped

3. Havocs – With so many objectives havocs become critical and truly make an impact. An effective part of 5 can ninja towers or disrupt supply lines continually.

4. Menage a Trois (3 ways) – battles between all 3 servers happen much more often on this map I’ve found

5. SMC – I love taking stone-mist or defending it. Many of the most epic moments of my GW2 career involve a many hour siege resulting in finally capping SM or defending vs 2 other servers. LOVE it.

Those are the main reasons I love EB. Anyone else?

I am a semi-recent transfer to TC; been there about 6 or 7 weeks now having come from both Kaineng and FC before that. TC is probably the 4th largest of all the servers, possibly 3rd, and I still only get hit badly by skill lag a few fights a week. The majority of my play, even in zerg vs. zerg (or ball vs ball), I’m still able to do things like blast a water field or use my hammer skills. Yes sometimes I have to hit my blast skill 3 times before it goes off, but it does. It changes the game, makes it more hectic yes, but do you think that fighting a real WAR vs 100+ people is more hectic that a 1v1 fight? Probably.

If it is just BG, SOR, and JQ that are impacted by this then I still agree we need to solve it, however, we should also realize that a majority of the game population is not getting crushed by this issue. If it bothers you that much I agree with the people who’ve said “transfer”. We can’t all have our cake, eat it, and still have another cake to look at so make a choice and stop complaining.

24 hours after my last post and not a single Dolyak has spawned.

Serious issue continuing for Blue in EB this week. Not a single dolyak has spawned from blue-side camps, SMC bound, in over 12 hours. They have not been getting killed, they simply do not spawn.

We on TC are seeing the exact same issue. We’re blue and none of the dolyaks have spawned towards SMC in EB from the blue side in the last 12 hours… this is terrible. SMC, Durios, and Quinten Lake are all affected and get 0 supplies.

Hey Everyone,

Banelene, of RE, here. I don’t post often, I hate drama, and I love GW and WvW. To my old friends of Kain, I miss you guys and I wish it was possible to guest WvW because you are a great group and you work your butts off. To those who don’t know me on FA, we’ve had some great battles and I’ve seen a lot of both good things and bad things from each of us.

There are times I’ve felt ashame for both things my server-mates have done in-game, as well as on the forums, and on their behalf allow me to say I’m sorry and we will strive to be better. This is a game, is meant to be fun, and there’s just way too much politics and emotion involved right now. Take a deep breath.

That being said I’m very proud to be a part of RE and TC. RE, thank you for teaching me to be a better player, for understanding the strenghts and weaknesses of each class and my own builds. You’ve taught me how to be competitive yet still have fun; yes we do still Kareoke every Thursday night while we zerg.

TC, thank you for being so welcoming and supportive of myself, my guild, and our commanders. You’re so much fun to play with both in and out of WvW. I love the RP’ing community that is so big here and I think it contributes immensly to the fun had by all—thank you.

FA and Kain, I wish you both the best in your match-ups next week, whether against TC or anyone else. I hope we can be more civil next time we fight and remember that the actions of a select few DO NOT DEFINE A SERVER.

The KN WvW guilds put in long hours during the weekend because if we didnt our score wouldnt be what it is right now.[/quote]

True dat Littlefeather. This last weekend myself and many RE played 10 hours stragiht after reset (8PM-6AM CST), slept 6 hours, woke up and played from Noon – 2AM again. I mean this in no way as an insult but KN is the workhorse of the server. We do our best, push as hard as we can, but seem to be up against a prize horse which wins in the long-run.

Only a WvW player realizes that they spent 3 hours defending a tower, alone (a.k.a. doing nothing), staring at a virtual landscape hoping that they don’t see anybody incoming.
