Hiding the utility bar so people don’t find out that shout guardians are good in WvW?
I’d tell you the real reason why, but I hear there is a certain plant in TW who has threatened to make the trees next to my house go crazy if I do, and I hate raking leaves.
On a serious note, yes shout guards are great in wvw, but depending on group comp etc there may be other very good options as well
Rl concerns prevent me from playing GW2 on a regular basis anymore, so I figured I’d put up one last farewell video of the fun TW has had in WvW in over the last few months. The clips are in no particular order, and somewhat hastily edited, but it’s a good watch regardless.
We’ve had our good nights and bad etc, but regardless, the teamwork and focus have left a permanent impression on me not only as a gw2 player, but in every game I will be playing after this.
For non TW seeing this, friend and foe alike, learn what you can… leave what you don’t like, but keep showing up to the fight with your best to force people to keep striving
Keep it up guys.
(warning the video is long 40+ mins)
i’m sure those rangers feel the same about you too. Now shake hands and stack up.
Well if by exited you mean immobilized/steamrolled by myself or those with me… and by cringing you mean that opposing rangers have some sort of problem with getting stability and other things from their allied guards… sure.
More realistically…
(1)Get to server that is in t1 WvW.
(2)Work with for any serious period of time with one of the premier dedicated WvW guilds on those servers.
Then try and tell me you cringe when you see a guard as an ally and are afraid when you see enemy rangers….. I’ll have the popcorn ready.
Personally, I love rangers in WvW.
That heal my thieves steal from them before 2 shotting is wonderful
Context is king.. and oh so funny!
This guy usually plays along a thief named thundercat snarf, who rolled thief AFTER abandoning her longtime ranger main, which she knew how to play very well.
Also, if you actually think 1500 vs 1200 or even 900 range matters against an organized group… Well your in for a rude suprise when a variety of range closing skills/long range cc can bridge that gap in less than a second.
So much more to be said… but I’ll leave it with the fact that when I see rangers on the opposing force I get exited, when I see them with my force.. I cringe.
We’ve had some really good 3 way fights in EB during NA primetime the past week. There has been far to much action to fraps everything, but here is one example of the extended brawling that has become commonplace in Stonemist Castle.
(the vid is about 20 minutes… heads up)
Awesome video Bearcow ~ this is some inspiring stuff to see from TW.

Thanks
We had wiped a few times earlier in the night vs the blob, but everyone toughed it out and we made the changes to make it happen. It was one of those nights that makes me really glad to be playing this game.
Thank you BG for what was easily one of the most intense series of fights I’ve been part of recently last night at SoR north camp. We kept trying to thin your numbers before the final face off, but your two main groups coordinated well and still made us work for every second of the final confrontation.
Here’s a vid of the final fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEIPLK5oKzc
(Make sure to set youtube to high res if your comp can handle it, hard to see details otherwise)
Nice three way fight at bay last night guys. Keep bringing it
So thats what he meant by “were threading the needle” eh?
Good fights on SoRBL this evening [TW]…..
/salute
Likewise. I was out of position at one point in one of our fights and took your melee train to the face. It was not pleasant.
Edit I’m from TW, sorry if that wasn’t specified lol

It’s been good to see some familiar opponents and even some new ones this time around. We’ve been having fun fights pretty much all week (when we’re online), so yes TW is still around even if things have become a bit stale and we’ve had some members branch off and do their own thing recently.
Here’s a few clips from reset night with us running either as a stand alone group or flanking for another SoR guild.

20+ minute farm/fight vs FA at FA garrison.
We eventually loose the war of attrition, but great fight regardless.

Finally, undeniable proof that Indo’s commanding skills outclass his counting skills!
Thanks for the fun fight BG
Had a great six minute fight at water camp last night vs BG.
KnT + others came in towards the end with a pretty good push and forced us to keep on our toes, but it was not enough to overcome the 5 guardian group!
(Indo and the rest of the zerg may have helped… a little.)
I haven’t had the time to make a lot of videos recently, but here’s a 3 way fight at bay.
2 vs 1’s aren’t bad, they’re bags in waiting.

Glad we had this talk.
Where can the video be found?
The video is up, you can view it now. Youtube channel is my sig.
I got to this fight just as it was ending
Still had some fun fights afterwards though
Jade Quarry : Tales From The Frontline
Finally, a good vid of another frontline guardian using shouts.
I assume your using soldier’s runes as well?
To the two JQ defenders who gave me an eight-minute fight spanning from the north supply camp all the way to the northeast supply camp… thank you for the fun fight!
note: video is edited for length/music/etc.
@bearcow, You hung out with that guild for how many hours and only managed 4 minutes of video? /notimpressed.
The description of the video on it’s youtube page mentions it was edited to fit the music, that wasn’t included in the embedded version here though, so I can understand the confusion.
To make an attempt to answer other concerns about the length of the video before they are mentioned…
(1) Clips that show my group steamrolling a much smaller group don’t survive the cut
(2) Clips that I start recording late into the fight because I’m too focused on hitting stuff at first generally don’t make it through the cut
(3) Clips that have long pauses in the action but still can’t be separated smoothly don’t make the cut
(4) It is a general practice that wipes of your own group aren’t reserved for highlight videos, with the rare exception of long-lasting, epic fights. In any case, we didn’t have much self-wipe footage to work with even if that was the norm.
(5) Disk space:
I have a 1TB hard drive. I had 700 gigs free when I started recording the nightly steamrolling done by FEAR a week or two ago. After deleting many videos of running with them (and some from running with TW), I still had barely enough space to record the 45mins(ish) of fights I had alongside CHOO. This means I don’t record a lot of fights that I might have otherwise
(6) Sound concerns:
I’ve already made one eight-minute of FEAR video where the music lasted for only half of it and the rest is silent., I don’t want to do that again because it can get boring after the sound ends.
(here it is as an example, at roughly 4:30 or so the sound cuts out) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sfECfR9w7w
Also, as a Christian I am not going to be broadcasting the bad language etc. that tends to pop up in teamspeak. Some clips are more tame than others in that regard, so I can just do a quick mute here and there, but sifting through 45ish minutes of video just to find a few seconds here and there to mute is a pain. I’d much rather just put music up instead.
Then there is the additional concern of making the pace of the action correspond with the tempo of the music. I’m still new at this, and from what I’ve seen it is by far the most difficult part of the editing process. Timing scene cuts and even ability usage with certain parts of a song is not easy, especially given the chaotic nature of WvW fighting.
This more than anything is what determined which clips made onto the video with CHOO and the length of the overall movie.
I’ve already made a few videos running alongside FEAR in this T1 match, so I decided branch out a bit and make one of pain train CHOO this time. As always, fun fights and a lot of fast-paced action every night I’m running alongside one of our organized wvw guilds.
(Thanks viperion for giving me a good idea for the music)

To the folks who rallied with [Fear] in EB last night and helped with the golem rushes, thank you. I think it was a good example of how even people who aren’t in voice chat and not normally participating in organized WvW can still step it up and work with the server for a common goal.
The last rush on the wrong keep was also an excellent example of why dropping ports and controlling golems is not for the tired or drunk!
I think I’ll add to viperior’s post and put up some footage I’ve taken while running alongside [FEAR] in WvW as a member of [BRO].

Two longer fights showcasing some open field tactics.

A mix of zerg vs zerg fights focusing on the use of veil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sfECfR9w7w
I have few others I’m working on. It will take a little bit to get them done though, FEAR is providing me with a ridiculous amount of highlight footage to go through.

The hammer build is almost the same as mine.
In WvW it’s a little silly how much healing you get from AH with empowering might + shouts/symbols. It’s not quite as survivability oriented as some other builds ive seen (which would use cleric’s gear or similar), but it’s still very good while also packing an ok punch.
Dolyak runes with this type of setup may not be the best, but they are still good, especially when dragging multiple people across the map into a friendly zerg.
The main issue with the build seems to be when I am not surrounded by allies in WvW. It still gives me good healing etc, but I really notice a difference when I’m not benefitting from putting boons on allies.
Wow, it seems like it was a really bad time for my computer to die. (using really bad laptop atm)
Been fighting alongside SoR for over a month against much higher BG numbers and I check forums to see that somehow we have the number advantage now and BG moved up.
Not sure about everyone else, but I think I’m going to miss being outnumbered a bit. I was having a lot of fun kiting 2-4 bg halfway across the map and into owl’s/valor’s zergs.
Looking forward to friday when my new comp should be here!
Pnuemnos (a.k.a. omnom)
Hey guys it’s pnuemnos, I just wanted to let you know that my comp died and I can’t log into the game atm (using wife’s comp to post this). I have a new comp ordered but it may be 2-3 weeks before it arrives.
I’ll see you when I get back I hope.
