I’m not going to respond on the SoS change, doesn’t really concern me. it’s good in WvW, and in PvE I only need swiftness to myself for exploring, so then I run retreat.
I’m going to respond to people who think this doesn’t help dps guards, because I think you’re all being blind to other builds than the accepted dps Builds, one comment in particular being annoyed about it and saying Jon should run a 30/30/x/x/x build and see how it doesn’t work.
The main changes for dps in these patch notes: Retributive Armour gives 2% more, Zealous Blade heals more, a Meditation Heal.
So, with 3k+ armour, the toughness you have will now (without any precision gear, but using master maintenance oil) will give you nearly 30% crit chance. You’re greatsword attacks will now heal for half the health of virtue or resolve while wearing a few pieces of celestiel (hp then boosted by trait choices) and with meditations treated you can now have a heal that: heals straight off for 3.8k+/gives you 4sec+ of fury/ healing you for damage you do (which is being boosted by fury!) You’re sword focus builds might not have been boosted, but go run a gs/h or gs/s meditation build. And laugh at everyone who can’t kill you and get’s burst down for over half their health, then a few seconds later as you heal all the way back to full, by bursting them down once more with whirling wrath.
Today is a good day to be a Guardian. Anyone that can’t see the changs in dps, needs to use some imagination!
On a happier note, awesome 1v1’s tonight Gandara! Shows how good this new arena can be!

To those wondering if this effects GvG, yes it does. DId one tonight, saw about a quarter of aoe’s at the time they happened. Still, only died the two times are guild lost.
As bad as it is, it is a really good way to train your reflexes against stuns and conditions etc… Having t react once you get the effect, is a lot harder than having to react to seeing it in front of you; as such its a pretty good way to practice.
Edit: Was a 20v20, I think a 15v15 would be fine. a 25v25 on the other hand… Probably not a sensible idea to try it.
Well, I think all of you who have slated A-net for ignoring posts about this, are pretty much fools. A quick search of the forums will lead you to this:

This was the first forum post made on the issue, which also went to a forum post in the bugs section (Both on the first posts of the forum sub-sections; Bugs and WvW Discussion). On the first one, the one not even in the bugs section, the GW2 have already commented on it, and said they’re pretty sure what’s causing the problem; and that they’ll be getting a fix out.
Really you’ve just embarresed yourself with this topic. Congratulations on not being able to use forums or google.
Posted it in the bugs section
Many people have found that since the patch, they can no longer see any aoe, neither effects or rings. This also carries onto other skills like, marks and lines of wardings, veils etc… Alongside this siege is also going invisible, so you can be sat there, firing an invisible catapult, with invisible projectiles. And this also effects enemy siege.
This has been brought up on the WvW discussion forum, and the amount impacted is obviously quite high: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Graphics-update-06-08-made-WvW-unplayable/first#post2570486
I really hope they sort this out, because it’s now either: Buy a new processor, or stop playing gw2. And that’s not a choice a game that came out, saying it would be playable on a large range of machines, should make me make. I could run with 20-30fps in big blob vs blob fights before this patch. Now this patch comes out, same frame rate, but it’s now unplayable.
I don’t think your processor matters actually, mine is pretty new and heavy (I run game in blob v blob on 40-50fps) and had no problems before this patch..
Well I just had a thought on this, and I’m thinking that the coding used to limit aoe effects, may not have a limit on it for certain hardware or something along those lines. So that for some setups, it makes the game believe it needs to get rid of all the effects. It kinda makes sense, and is really the only thing I can think of right now.
Exactly the same issue, changed all my graphics settings about to anything that may effect, no result. Running on lowest, still don’t see aoe’s/lines/marks. Running on lowest with char limit at highest, same, lowest with view distance up same etc… etc… Running at highest, middle, everything; still the same.
It’s impossible to play in WvW when you can’t see static fields, lines of warding, rings of warding, marks etc…

And as well as fields, it’s also siege. Which means I can’t use siege on anything the enemy has because 1) I can’t see my own siege. 2) i can’t see their siege.
To the Piken Square Squire Guardian at Piken Square Hill who survived in a 2vs1 aginst me and another from Deso, you were badass!
