tl;dr: want to roll an alt and go for 100% map completion. Anyone want to join for the journey?
I’ve been playing on and off since Oct 2014 by myself. I’ve been invited to those massive guilds that always advertise in starter zones but couldn’t really get behind them – felt the size of them impacted having close relationships. While dynamic events encourage group play, I’ve never met anyone to play with after a day or two.
After hitting 80 and completing the story, its been tough to find a reason to play. Was thinking about rolling an alt and going for 100% map completion. Don’t care all too much about the story but would certainly do it again – still haven’t done the priory story line.
Not looking to go crazy and run through this. Definitely want to take my time and enjoy what the game has to offer in each zone and explore. Also, I don’t play for long stretches at a time, 2-3 hour sessions at most (maybe this would change playing with someone). I know it can be tough to do this with someone with conflicting schedules (I’m in EST) and such but I think it would be great fun to do with someone!
I’m pretty laid back and don’t really care about builds, combo fields etc… just want an easy adventure where anyone involved can have some fun!
Anyone interested let me know!
Konig – good catch with the Hoelbrak ogre! I also noticed some dissimilarities between the book and game. Like you said, this is likely a disconnect from having an outside author.
Aaron – Ghosts of Ascalon is a close second for me, after Sea of Sorrows. I liked some of the added lore that I didn’t find in the game (particularly the foefire – could be in the game, I just never stumbled upon it). TBH, I didn’t see Riona turning on the group like that. I knew she had her doubts with Dougal and Ember but I didn’t expect it.
As for Edge of Destiny, why do you feel that the group had little motivation? Also, were dwarvern cities not underground? I always pictured them to be similar to Asuran cities before their race came to the surface.
For me, Edge of Destiny became repetitive, especially the fight scenes. I agree that the ending was its strongest point. I understand why Logan did what he did but it still made my blood boil. Even though I knew what was coming because of the game, it was still an enjoyable read.
I think Sea of Sorrows is arguably the best of the three books. Although pacing could be slow, I felt it had the strongest story and overall character development.
Hoping a new book is announced soon!
I just finished reading all three of the books currently released. Curious if any more are planned as I’d love to continue reading more about Tyria outside of the game.
Also, anyone else feel like Edge of Destiny was lacking compared to the other two books?
