I assume it has someting to do with the changes to culling, but in pvp some serious skills are not having their animations shown. In particular I have noticed that in large fights the guardian/dragonhunter 5 skill on hammer and long bow aren’t showing. These tend to be make or break skills because if you don’t see it you will just keep walking into it and getting cced
For the most part in dungeons the best defense is a good offense. Because if you go down when something dies you will ralley and most bosses have a couple of attack worth worrying about, and you can dodge roll those. So things like stability trait on the flamethrower are just not that great especially since now lots of people have aoe stability in dungeons.
For max damage you want a couple things 1. zerker/assassins gear 2.tons of might 3.vulnerability 4.As many hard hitting abilities as you can fit into a single build and rotation.
Engis have bad autos on all weapons and kits across the board and while some utilities can be very helpful in situations they really don’t add to your dps. Kits and traits that randomly do damage will max our your dps. Using the build i linked and the explination i give below is your best bet for engi in dungeon.
blasting in a fire field will grant you and nearby allies might. you have a 10s fire field on flamethrower 4 and many blast finishers. They are 1.Orbital strike(F5) 2.healing turret explosion 3.Flame blast(FT2) 4. Acid bomb(EG4). You can use this to get 18 might before a fight and easily sustain 15 might and higher by yourself. Your might stacking rotation is 1.Orbital Strike 2. put FT4 right under Orbital Strike. 3. douple tap flameblast in the fire field. 4. drop and blow up heal turret in field. 5. acid bomb in field (pressing swap weapons immediatly after using this skill cancels the leap part but leaves blast and damage) 5. Flame blast once more. You contribute alot to applying vuln because all of your explosion apply 1 stack.
You don’t really need a perfect dps rotation you only need to know what skills to use and just use them whenever they are off cd. In no particular order they are
Rifle 3 and 5, Elixer gun 4, Flamethrower 2, Grenade 2 and 4, Orbital strkie, Grenade Barrage, and incidiary ammo. You should only expierince a few seconds here and there when all of those are on cd fill in this time with grenade kit autos because they are your best auto.
There is another thread with I posted on discusing a P/P elixer build. In my opinion it is the best route for a P/P condi build due to the fact the P/P is so aggressive and elixer just buff that while kits work for more ulity and balance.

This is fairly similar to a very old engi build “rampaging alchemist” from back during beta to a bit after launch. With cleansing formula 409 (condi removing passive) all of your elixers will remove conditions so the elixer c is really not that great. It has good use agianst againts necros who transfer conditions or are using signent of spite. No other class will really hit you with such a variaty of condis to where that is necesary. I would replace this with elixer b, which can give you really important buffs(low cd stability for stomps, fury, swiftness and retailation). You can also get alot more damage by going into cemical instead of heavy armor exploit. now obviosly you lose the combo with invigorating speed, which is a large downside. You can make up for this with elixer R. Elixer r is a good alternative to elixer s. It hasn’t been a stunbreak for a long time but it does remove immobize which can be very important. It fully refills your stamina which if you roll twice drink it you have essnetially had the same time evading as you would by drinking elixer S for half the Cd. Toss elixer R is also just so much better than Toss Elixer S. Elixer S gives an Aoe stealth wich can make it easy to revive teamates and prevent them from being stomped. The only problem is that stealthed doesn’t make you immune to cleave. You and the downed ally can be hit with CC, Aoes and Poison. Making it harder to revive him. Toss Elixer R removes condi’s on a pulse and heals for 17%health on pulse. If you use this on an ally who goes down, it gets rid of the condis as it helps you heal making it very easy to get people up. And if they cc you instead of damaging the downed ally the Elixer can pick up an ally all by itself. This can also be used for yourself very easily, It lasts for 12 seconds, so if you toss it a few seconds before you go down it will pick you back up. When you down you lose all your condi’s but keep your boons so doing thing is also a free condi cleanse. Obviosly this doens’t work 100% of the time. If there are a few people focusing damage on your body than you might not res quick enough, but i would say at least 85-90% of the time it gets me back up especially if somebody tries to stomp you. I am can never decide which elite skill i like better, Elixer X or Supply crate. Rampage, Lich form , and tornado are a huge problem for most people and toss Elixer S turns those people into a moa for 3s and when it is done they return to their normal form. This means if somebody pops lich or rampage you can hit them with this and it cancels their massive cd that would most likley win them the fight. Also it has a 50% chance to turn you into a rampage, this is super strong even if you don’t have power or crit damage. Finnaly the runes are good options but i would reccoment experimenting with scavenger runes for more sustain or krait runes for better teamfights. Good would play it like this

All personal preference. It is fun to use but it isn’t going to beat out things like Cele rifle.
Really? So you’re saying Engineers are worthless without an objectively bugged trait that is clearly ruining some aspects of the game? This very thread is an insult to competent Engineer players.
I still don’t know what was bugged about it, the dev post never clarified. Are they referring to how overpowered Grenade barrage was? How did grenadier cause that?
Engineer is my favorite class, it always has been, and grenades have always been the backbone of our DPS and the recent major change to traits only made it more so. And the “grenadier” trait was the most important of those traits. Go hit stuff with grenades now, our DPS is much lower.
Guess I’ll have to play Thief until they give back out main trait, which will be sometime after HoT comes out probably.
It was giving it some bonuses from the old grenadier trait, it had 1500 range and was launching way more grenades than intended
Hmm.. and here I was thinking they wouldn’t just disable Grenadier since it is so central to a Grenade Kit engineer, and engineer as a class itself. Guess I was wrong.
Guess I will also be shelving my engie until they fix the trait
I feel sorry for those who main an engie, but I guess you can go try some other builds for now.

I am an engi main, since beta, and i can honestly say that although this sucks it doesn’t make engi unplayable. Infact i still think that it is one of the stronger pvp classes at the moment. Before this update people used grenades at that radius and velocity all the time, even if they aren’t 1500 range anymore rarely did you hit anyting at that distance solidly anyway. If there were better options it wouldn’t even be a big deal. But glass cannon is very underwehlming and the other is a fall damage trait. Honestly I am more upset by the fact that i don’t have my predator effects anymore
On a side note, you can’t even get the cool effects from predator because this trait is disabled. Hopefully it gets fixed soon, because the trait is really needed to make the grenade kit usefull for fighting at anything near the 900 range cap.
A friend of mine made a bet for 500g(nobody has won yet), we have known each other for a long time and have made exchanges like this before in other games, but i am nervous about exchanging 500g through the mail because it looks very suspicious, i have played gw2 since the beta with this account and definitely don’t want to get banned. as a disclaimer if i lose the bet i have the money/mats for money to give him the gold, but I doubt he does, so their is a possibility of him buying the gold from a third party site and this makes me more nervous. I would like to go through with this because 500g would be enough for me to finish a legendary. I have had temp bans in the past and I know gw2 is serious about keeping a clean community. Is this a horrible idea or I am just being overly cautious. also is this a permaban offense?
