CM100 Arkk has a pull? Bug

In all my CM100 attempts, I’ve had 2x when he pulls me towards him (which is clearly not a mechanic).

The first time I had skull and stood in the bubble, then out of nowhere I get pulled towards him and blows up everyone.

The second time, he pulled me once and I insta-KO and died (no downstate). 2sec later I magically revive, am able to do 1-2 auto attacks, and then gets pulled to him again and insta dies. Unfortunately I wasn’t recording when this happened.

Not sure what causes it either, but it might be some nasty aftereffect bug from gravity well?

I’ve gotten 16 unstable cosmic essences already and did them all with pugs. RNG and bugs included, I’ve learnt plenty on how to deal with Arkk.

For instance, breaking Arkk’s breakbar while having to dps the anomaly at the same time. Having to wait a while (and probably die) if there is no platform on the anomaly when it appears at < 40%. Or having 3 man insta-down and die on the green circle when Arkk’s enrage icon covers up his orb cannon attacks.

Sure, it is frustrating, but it is part of the game NOW since the bugs are not fixed. But if you feel like you need to ragequit, then you sure need to take a break from it. At this point the pug player base needs time to develop and attune to this new difficulty level. Give it a month or so and people will probably be better off already with learnt mechanics and fixed bugs.

I usually drop if a party is inexperienced at the 3rd boss (regardless if they have title or not), because it takes time to get used to the mechanics and I’ve already spent more than 20 hours on that. No hard feelings, it’s just a learning curve I expect everyone to be going through.

BUT, if everyone is actually doing great and RNG messes us up, I stay for a lot longer and when we get the kill, it’s a bonus. If not, then just drop and do other things. No point feeling bad for yourself, it’s still a challenge essentially.

WTF did you do to fractals?

^ I remember you absolutely had to avoid getting hit back then, cause everything was 1 shot, and trash mobs had high HPs. But people developed ways to beat high level fractals before the content rework, including hammer guard, wild strafing for volcanic shaman and max-ing zerker strats.

Those really tested the mettle, but obviously, the dedicated player base for these challenges were really small, and the rewards were trash. But it was really tough back then, and you had to improve your skill.

The fractal rework years ago, brought many casual players on board, and I can understand their disgust at such difficulty today. However, I don’t appreciate the thrashing of these content, especially when it pushes willing players to get better and get exclusive rewards for their trouble.

Disclaimer: I think the fight is fine for the difficulty once the bugs get fixed. I have killed him 5 times already.

I want to add another bug to the list of annoyances. When you get under 15% and everything goes insane, Arkk will do an eye attack and during it he will shoot out the multiple ball attack. The bug is the fact that he doesn’t display the balls above him because the eye blocks the animation (plus the fact that you’re looking away and not at the boss to begin with), so you just end up eating the attack to the face if the floor is making you stand right beside him. This is the only attack in the entire fight that seems completely unfair once you have practice with the fight.

I joined a group yesterday stuck on him, and first pull we got him down to 5% when Arkk proceeded to do this and nuke 3 of us out instantly.

Exact thing happened to me. Maybe we’re in the same party then. But yes, no one can tell that the orbs are going to come out because we don’t see any hint of the animation at all. Sometimes the enrage on top of Arkk’s head comes out too big also, and we have no idea what attacks are coming next.

Ignore mechanics?

“Retreat!” – block red orbs?
“Stand Your Ground!” – avoid gravity circles?

Interesting, worth giving a try tomorrow.

A guardian is good training wheels for pugs, but I’ve come across groups of people who don’t appreciate the guard’s importance during the < 40% platform phase and just complain he’s not meta.

When I’m on my guard, I trait for Valor to distribute aegis to team mates when blocked, and bring on a shield for the extra aegis on shield 4. It’s really good to help strengthen the survivability of team mates, but in all honesty, if team mates can’t learn to survive without this help, it won’t help them improve the moment a guard is not in the party.

Think I got my 3rd to 4th kill on CM100 already, all with PUGs.

From what I see, most of the time, the few who have killed Arkk would rather form their own lfg with title/pots/food, so if you aren’t within this group, you’ll usually end up pugging with the many others who haven’t completed it.

For this group of pugs, (and I am one of them), to be honest, there is nothing you can do except do more practise, practise and practise. I’ve initiated so many Arkk battles that its already natural on what to do in between the phases – which includes:

- always waiting for anomaly respawn
- understanding where’s the best place to stand
- when to drop your wells so everyone receives it
- what his cannon/hammer/staff attacks are
- what attacks can block the orange orbs, and what doesn’t reflect them
- and how you can jump/launch through almost every attack (including the death AOE if you fail all 4 orbs-towers phase)

It’s a learning curve, but if you dedicate yourself to learning it, even if you watch videos, you’ll get there eventually. Now, this is on the personal level. If we wish for the whole pug base for CM fractals to go through and understand this learning curve, I’d say maybe 1-2 months would be a good time frame. I’m fairly optimistic that this will be puggable and winnable daily after that time frame.

What helped me was not to panic and stay calm. look at your feet for the ground aoes, they usually move in a pattern, somehow akin to nightmare siax ground aoes.

You don’t need to move around much either if u see an aoe under you. just dodge to the side that is safe. If you can’t dodge in time, sometimes its just better to stay in place and get hit by 1 aoe. You will take damage from that spot, but this is better than running around and then get hit by 3-4 aoes.

If you are not inTS you don't matter.

I’ve been on CD for maybe a year now through all types of fluctuations and i stay because i love it. It’s home. both my self and my guild even if we are small have poured our hearts into CD. Tonight a blanket statement was made by someone i respect that’s a major voice on CD even if that respect only goes in one direction. That if you don’t use TS than your not an asset because you aren’t really helping. I’m sure a lot of people feel that way. I know its a big help in wvw. But it was really the first time in a year i felt like wow kitten my server.

Even if we were roamers which we aren’t we are a small ops guild of seasoned vets that responds to all major calls from tags and larger guilds for aid. I feel like that’s a pretty big kitten you to people that put in time and effort but don’t use TS. I guess i just needed to vent because if I didn’t i was gonna seethe about it until i moved my entire guild to a new server.

I was there yesterday too, although I believe the commander may not necessarily be from CD. Understand that we are paired with 2 other servers.

I didn’t think too much about the comment , but cheer up if you feel offended. Things come and go in map chat. It’s better to ignore things at times or take the benefit of the doubt.

I’m sure everyone was anxious to get Bay back. For certain, the commander(s) threw everything to take Bay back for a period of at least 3 hours and there’s been a lot of challenges.

They set up about 6-8 catas at bay, we have a larg zerg. Those of us on catas took the walls down. The commander literally left us to attack hills and 1/2 the zerg died on the attempt at bay.

Wasn’t that cos someone pulled the EWP on hills? I responded to it but wiped there anyway. There certainly was a lot of confusion because we were in the midst of cata-ing bay and out of nowhere there’s the big EWP spam on map chat.

Would a "Key-Chain" UI panel benefit us? [Merged]
