Rangers are average in almost every aspect of the game! And this is what makes us superior!
Being the jack-of-all-trades makes us strong in solo and small group play but less required in large groups, as there always will be someone who surpasses us in a single aspect of the game.
Whatever…if you know what you do and what the class is capable of you can do pretty much everything in this game.

did you forget to swap the gear or do you really want to run zerker on the trapper and the spirit/heal/buff ranger

First off: Ranger’s aren’t useless when it comes to small-group or solo play and they are viable in zerg play aswell.

On the other hand, you will end up running full zerker + 30/30/10/0/0 or something like that with your damage-expectations, which makes us less viable;)

I’d use axe/horn for the fury/swiftness gain + blastfinishers for the water fields from your springs.

You will have big numbers but you’ll be paper, so make sure you know when to dodge and stuff.

One of you should swap out Piercing Arrows for Spotter.

Be aware of the fact that this offers no utility for the zerg, so you’ll only be good for damage when following a tag.

Anyways: keep in mind you are probably going to lose 1/3 of your critical damage next tuesday

+100% condition duration build

Not a wvw player so I can’t answer the question, but I would like to ask one. Why nightmare over undead rune? Seems damage would be more important then duration vs other players (that I assume run a a lot of removal).

I’m not sure, bonfire looks like it doesn’t improve its damage unless it goes up a whole second, in this case it’s 2 seconds.

Burning ticks once every full second. Thus you’ll only get another tick if you hit another full second. As burning stacks duration hitting the 100 % duration doesn’t matter as much as with bleed tho.
So, even if you dont hit the full second you will benefit from having condition duration with burning.
Example: 2 stacks of burning á 1,5 seconds duration make 3 seconds total (so 3 ticks instead of 2)

Usually that would be the case in WvW, but that bonfire damage in 2 seconds would be immensely powerful, and enemies would need to be almost inhumanly quick with the condi removal to clear it.

Sminkiottone, assuming the damage in actual gameplay matches the build editor, that could be an interesting build. Considering most thieves in WvW run some form of glass cannon build making their health hover between 11k-17k, landing a hit with that bonfire would almost certainly insta-kill them. Also, it could well make capping camps/towers take no effort/time at all.

If you’re wanting pure damage, it might be worth swapping the 6th rune to a cheap superior rune of the undead for an extra 28 condi damage instead of the 5% chance of fear.

I’m currently rebuilding a few of my characters classes so I’m without the funds in game to test this out personally (replacing melandru runes can be expensive if I wanted to change back :P ) but I’m definitely keeping an eye on this thread in case someone else tests it and hopefully records some gameplay of it.

I am curious how this is supposed to be an instant kill. 2 seconds of burning will be inflicted for each tick of bonfire. As mentioned before burning stacks duration, so even if a thief stays in there for the full duration of 8 seconds the burning will last 16 seconds total. So after staying in there for 8 seconds, you’ll have stacked another 8 seconds of burning on him, which takes him a single removal.

Personally I would not spend much time on creating new builds anyways, as we are facing the april 15th major patch;)
