Just because someone from SFR is (was?) causing problem to our Teamspeak server doesn’t mean that the whole server is at fault. Same goes for the pretty obvious spies during the league from a couple of servers (with SFR being just one of them, at least on the first matchup).
Just like Coarr wrote above
black sheep are on every server.
Piken took this chance to start building a better TS and learnt (mostly from Jade Sea) how to counter spies once they are identified. We don’t need to only look at the bad side.
I’m pretty sure that they won’t keep up with the weird tactics now that the season is over. They have no reason to destroy their own fun when there is nothing for them to gain from it. Let’s just have fun this week (and the weeks that follow it) without too much rivalry.
Thank you community.
Heya Guild Wars 2 WvW, time to quit for good.
WAIT, WHAT?!
why? :/
it is impressive u beat vizunah they have almost perma 3 bloodlust in their matchups
^ this. Vizunah did some impressive job with the bloodlust and kodash was still getting more points from it. Wow.
@Graendall.4765 : Piken’s pve community is a really friendly and nice one – quite possibly the best one I have seen, but it’s not a big one in numbers. Wait for a scarlet’s invasion and you will see the difference in random pve players in Piken and servers like Vizunah and Seafarer’s Rest. While we did have a problem with the pve players (especially those that ignored pretty much everything that was written on mapchat) we didn’t have extreme problems. At least not during the late evening to morning that I usually play.
I read on reddit a lot about your points not from ppt but I never imagined it would be so high. Did you have any special teams dedicated only to that?
(edited by chriskin.3298)
To be honest here, some servers have very low pve populations. For example, during the first matchup Piken’s problems with achievement hunters weren’t as severe as Seafarer’s ones. We had the occasional group in the ruins/jp or those berserker geared warriors rallying the enemy but it wasn’t that lack of order that SFR seemed to have.
SFR, being the only international server in the gold league that could have beaten Vizunah, got a lot of transfers before the league started as well. I know that many of my Desolation friends transferred to SFR for the possible first place in the league. To give an idea on how many transferred I’ll tell you that I usually now have more friends online on SFR than on Desolation (where I have been for many months and have added a lot of people) and I’ve only added three SFR players since I started playing.
So we have only two international servers in gold league, one that had a high pve population AND just got a lot of WTJs and the other one having practically zero pve population. In case it isn’t common knowledge, Piken’s pve is pretty much just a couple of champion trains and the occasional guy walking around, usually alone. (Our cities and taverns are full of life though)
I remember going, kinda late at night, in the jumping puzzle of one of the borderlands to get the achievement (Piken didn’t even have a queue at that time) and I saw around 20 sfr in there trying to jump from one rock to the other. Piken’s jumping puzzle people at that time were 3. My two party members and me.
The ruins were kinda similar. Teams of max 10 (usually a lot less, I did most of the achievement alone) Piken players capturing a ruin for the achievement followed by a huge blob of SFR ones taking it after them. Blob big enough to capture half of the map in a matter of minutes.
TL;DR : SFR wasn’t the only server that was hit by the achievement hunters but it sure was the only one that was hit so hard. Sorry for all the people that left the server because of that.
points not from ppt. thx arena net for the bloodlust buff. without it we would be 3 ranks lower in the end result of the league.
kodash – 98108
I won’t lie, this is really impressive :O
(edited by chriskin.3298)
To Piken Square, indeed you were really unlucky having to fight SFR and VZ so many times. I just hope you can understand there was nothing personal in any of the matchups we had and even more i hope we can bury the hatchet and build mutual respect once again.
Yeah, it’s not your fault that the schedule was like that. Some things could have been handled differently (I guess from our side as well) but at the end of it all we shouldn’t get too angry about such things, it’s only a game.
I hope noone would have any hard feelings once the league is over. Let’s have some fun fights in the next matchups without having the shadow of the league over our heads.
Oh these are really nice news, thanks
Piken community, what the puppy (heh) are we waiting for? We NEED to start a guild like theirs. I will gladly get another (10th, sigh…) character slot just to make an asura mesmer.
Just imagine us making a guild like that and fighting against you guys. 10v10, all asura mesmers.
Please tell me you have a video or screenshot of that. PLEASE
Would it be too weird to ask why there is a charr in " Asuran Rebels "?
Oh, sorry.
I’ve read that they plan to move back to the old glicko rating system for some time and then start the second season in some time. They haven’t announced when that will be but the way I read was “not before February”. I don’t have a link though.
You might want to know that the general idea on Ts during the first three days of the first matchup was that we should focus Vizunah. Then it became obvious that we can’t beat them and tried to get the best position possible for our server, meaning we had to focus SFR. Combine it with the fact that SFR seemed to be lacking order, with way too many pve players getting achievements, our hand was practically forced. It was either getting farmed by angry Vizunah armies or holding our PPT acceptably high by focusing a little more on SFR. Even then, though, one the finest moments of the matchup was when we tried – and succeeded – to take a waypointed hills keep full of siege and omega golems from Vizunah. It’s not like we just like attacking you people.
SFRJ tends to attack strong opponents, especially during their open raids. Take that as a compliment, not as an act of hate.
Did other ex Desolation players join Piken in big numbers? I can only think of DVG, OP (which was part of DVG) and War (who seem really cool and don’t really voice any grudge at all). Out of guildless people I have only seen two that I can recognize from my time back on Deso, both of them casual players that don’t really care about what server they fight against that just saw that DVG left Deso and followed us to Piken.
While back there, by the way, most of Deso’s players had nothing against SFR. On the contrary, we enjoyed it when you managed to dethrone Vizunah, even if it was only for a little time. Having just one server on the top spot for so long was a little boring.
Anyho, what’s gonna happen after S1 ends?
I really hope the end of the season will bring the tryhard style of playing to an end, for all of the servers included, so that we can all have more fun without being offensive at each other (either here or ingame).
so you are telling me piken didnt have a really bad opinion of sfr before league due to our forum warriors? i meant you disliked us on week one and hated us after week 5
Sorry if this is a little harsh but I don’t think that most of the people in Piken have any feelings at all about SFR as a server – at least pretty much noone was speaking badly about SFR in teamspeak or the forums. Some might be annoyed by the relatively higher amount of griefers in SFR after the league started (especially compared to SFR some weeks/months ago that was really cool to fight against) or by what happened during the Riverside matchup but those things can be forgotten really fast.
That annoyance might make us focus SFR objectives more than usual but it won’t stay for long – after all, the opinion people from Piken have for SFR is strictly based on the way SFR people behave and I can’t say I have seen more SFR people behaving badly in this matchup than “normal”.
Thanks to the two Vizunah thieves that fought against me on my guardian today, they were nice and hard fights. Sorry I was full of bloodlust stacks making them unfair.
If you remember fighting against a red/black female human guardian and want to repeat those duels add me ingame and drop a message if you see me online.
What you are saying is simply not correct and you can see why here
Goldfish have a memory span of at least three months!
(the rest of the post is cool though)
Christmas is getting closer.
It would be a shut up and take my money if I could buy in the gem store an upgrade that allow me, after I claimed for my guild a tower, to decorate it in a Xmas style..
THIS. 100% THIS.
Make the “you can decorate a tower” part independent from the “you claim the tower” part and I would buy it the moment it hit the store.
just like people on piken didn’t want half of desolation to move to you
Piken’s people were actually very polite and made us feel at home really fast. I can’t even consider Desolation my “home server” anymore and I have been there for way longer than on Piken.
We didn’t lose that many guilds after the season either, not permanently at least.
At some point we should just agree with them to shut them up. You know, like you do with crazy people …
And have nothing to laugh about while doing work? Come on Jayne, don’t do this to me :/
Oh i obviously can’t know what Vizunah does or doesn’t do. Since you agreed that it wasn’t Piken that did it it’s cool with me. An idea would be, though, that after seeing a zerg getting destroyed in front of you you might not want to get in there. I know that if I was on Vizu I would back away as well because, let’s be honest now, that screenshot of yours doesn’t show “few alive” in there.
Keep on with your comedic “We failed to beat Vizunah so we ask Anet to remove them from the league” kinda thing, those of us that can’t play right now need something to laugh. Do try to understand how WvWvW works first and what is causing each choice, though, those comedic threads are becoming less funny these days. :/
Can I get those screenshots then? I wasn’t ingame for the last hours but I know that Piken doesn’t have the luxury to leave a free Bay without capping it. Especially since they were in there, meaning they wanted to cap it in the first place as well.
If a server attacks a keep and the third server can’t wipe both the defenders and the other attackers getting in there will just contest the keep for the defenders. So obviously the third server won’t get in the lord’s room, that would be just stupid of them.
If the first attackers get heavily destroyed the third server won’t just risk attacking the defenders as well, they can go back to spawn without destroying their armor and morale.
WvW is all about choosing where and when to fight, it’s not a “hit anything that moves with a red name” kinda thing.
But you proooooomised :’(
Extremely long post, sorry. It’s practically the same that I wrote the last time but I think that it should be mentioned, since many people seem to agree with it. I’ll put a TL;DR at the end.
I find it weird that people are seriously talking about doubleteaming after SFR and Piken tried to take Vizunah’s garrison together during the last matchup. Vizunah players didn’t whine about it and they earned my respect for acting that way.
This is the way I see it, being mostly a roamer (when not in guild raids, at least) :
There is a war going on out there. If you want us to attack Vizunah instead of SFR you should give us a reason to do so. Reset their towers so that they won’t be the fully sieged tier 3 fortresses that they are now, for example. You are supposed to be the best server in Europe, according to what SFR people say. If you can’t reset Vizunah’s objectives how can you expect Piken to be able to do it? Unless, of course, you just can’t capture Vizunah’s objectives either – which is nothing to be ashamed about, we are talking about Vizunah, not some bronze league server. Just because you beat Vizunah some times when they were having some internal problems doesn’t mean that SFR is magically the best EU server. Unfortunately for all of us (VS people included), Vizunah is way stronger than SFR people make it seem on these forums.
Act in a way, both in the forums and ingame, that won’t make us want to hunt you down the moment we see you. If I’m in a hurry (to get to my commander, for example) and I see an enemy waving I’ll wave back and keep going to where I wanted to go. If that enemy ganks me with five others and then starts jumping on my corpse I’ll get as many people from Piken as I can and I will go where his party is, kill them and then attack as many towers and camps from his server as I can. You can use your imagination to find out which one was the Vizunah guy and which one was the SFR one.
Don’t forget that behind that “Piken Square <rank here> [quild]” tag is a person that both doesn’t want to just die on the gates of a tower that he can’t capture and gets angry at people offending him.
Your problem is that SFR people have acted arrogantly when they managed to beat Vizunah at their worst days in the past and are now feeling what it’s like to make Vizunah angry. I understand why SFR people were proud of beating Vizunah (and it was no small achievement, I won’t deny that) but getting a couple of victories didn’t prove as much as you guys might believe. Vizunah got out of their problems stronger than before and started to destroy SFR just like they were doing in the past, it’s just business as usual now. Not every server can be “the best EU server” (as in “best in the PPT game”, obviously, since we are talking about ticks here) and that’s ok, it’s not a reason to offend anyone. One might even say that your server’s PPT isn’t all that important, having fun while fighting and taking part in nice fights is what matters most. That lack of respect that SFR people show is what is making you lose and it’s on your hands to do something about it.
TL;DR : Vizunah’s objectives are defended extremely well, SFR’s aren’t. Vizunah players tend to show respect to their fellow players, even if they are not from their server, SFR players tend to be a lot more aggressive. SFR has also caused problems in the past on both Vizunah (took their first place before the seasons) and Piken (the Riverside-SFR-Piken matchup wasn’t fair and we all know it – the way SFR players spoke on the forums didn’t help either). Let’s stop the whining, change our attitude and have some fun out there. It’s just a game, many seem to forget that.
why dont you attack them though when all our side of eb is blue whats your excuse there you would rather try and upgrade our stuff while all our players are asleep to post a screenshot as some sort of prestige? besides i agree its logical to attack the server that is being attacked by the other one but whenever we attack you piken just attacks us whenever we attack piken you attack us all day in sfr bl you were attacking sunnyhill and piken were attacking cragtop and you trading garrison neither attacked anything of the other just us all day no matter what piken says with their tactics its clear why they attack us cause they simply dont like us(also the fact that they couldn’t do anything to either sfr or vizunah unless one is attacking the other anyway) and you dont give a crap about piken you just want to defeat us as the biggest threat
In case you didn’t notice Vizunah held practically all of Piken’s home border (and well, almost everything on all borders, to be honest) during the whole night. They even held our own garrison for more than a couple of hours. The battle isn’t only on EB.
We even saw piken and vizu players /wave at each other as they passed
By the way, I hit “/wave @” to any opponent that I don’t wish to fight, including SFR ones. Just saying.
(edited by chriskin.3298)
You know what’s worse than getting double teamed? Your commander sitting in spawn area and telling people on teamspeak to just lose your keep…
Actually, losing the keep and focusing on smaller objectives is better in some situations. During the SFR-Riverside attack on EB on reset night Piken had to let the keep fall and take other objectives leading us to slowly paint our corner in our color.
Defending a keep against two servers attacking it can cause you to stay at <50 tick for a really long time. Knowing that it would fall eventually, making that <50 tick last for many hours isn’t a good idea. Ignoring it and focusing on smaller objectives can give you a ~100 tick.
I don’t know if he let it fall thinking about it or whether he just stopped trying to defend it but it’s not a bad strategy.
First time seeing a +0 tick since the start of the season. Tonight was an interesting night. I’d like to say a “thank you” to the people on Piken being online in EB , even though it’s Saturday night, a time that we traditionally have no one online.
It’s a shame seeing a server like SFR ticking absolute zero, it reminds me a little of the SFR-Riverside-Piken matchup and the weird ticks during that matchup.
our dolyaks kill all BB players.
This brought a rather funny image of a whole blob getting wiped by a proud dolyak to my mind, followed by a hundred messages on the forums to nerf that dolyak.
Seriously, though, is the condition in SFR as bad as you say? You seem to be doing pretty well. SFR is doing worse than it used to but it’s not like it has fallen apart. I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
I don’t really care that much about whether SFR is going to be strong or not, to be honest – it’s not like any of us has any chance to win the league either way.
I only want to see the attitude I faced at the last day (a friendly bunch of respectful opponents) and not the attitude I had to face all the other days (corpsejumping and party invites just to swear). I guess I’ll have to wait and see for that as well.
(edit : kitten , even I am disappointed in how I phrased what I wanted to say in this post. I’ll probably edit it tomorrow so that it will make more sense)
(edited by chriskin.3298)
Keep it up trying to win the league as well. Oh wait… XD
I am really interested in what riverside will choose to do at the next matchup.
*They can side with SFR, trying to get a lead on piken before monday, knowing piken’s usually weak weekend.
*They can side with Piken, trying to take a lead on SFR knowing how SFR is at it’s weakest right now, probably because many guilds left (which is pretty obvious if you see how SFR is only 10k ahead of BB right now, when Piken was around 30k ahead of BB at their matchup.)
*They can screw politics and play for fun, which would make everyone have more fun as well.
Whatever they choose, the next matchup will be really interesting
PS : Baruch keep that tick up, I still believe
Is there a camera bug required to remove arrow carts in Mendons? I’m pretty sure it can be done without any bug or exploit at all. Correct me if my EB info is a little outdated, I tend to avoid that map.
Please, by the way, do not form an opinion about Piken Square from what you see in Eternal Battlegrounds. EB, just like in most servers, is more like a buffer for new players rather than a place for the community to show its true quality.
The fact that EB people tend to not use Teamspeak at all – when there is no huge open raid there, at least – only helps to make that problem even worse since there are few ways to positively influence those players.
I am pretty sure that you will experience little “mental indigence” at the borderlands, way less than what you will find in other servers.
I’m pretty sure he meant transfers. (edit : oh he didn’t – but the point still counts)
Transfers should still be there (since gw2 is way more than just wvw – and there are many gvg guilds jumping servers to have good fights) but with the “you can transfer every seven days” rule it’s like they are promoting spying.
Making that 14 days (so that the spy would have to stay away from his server for at least on more matchup) would probably make the problem less serious.
@ the guild that sent the spy (let’s not put names in here if we don’t have to) : please stop it. Taking a keep without spying and sabotaging is a really nice experience, you are ruining both your fun and ours. We are here to play, not just get points, please respect that.
What’s up with Piken, for the number 2 in Gold League a very bad start. Do your guilds boycott reset or is the only way you can make points night capping?:)
This might actually be the only time I have seen Piken get first place before Monday. We are usually second (or even third) for the whole weekend, even on “easy” (lacking a better word) matchups.
Some of our best open raid commanders are usually not playing during the weekends at all, probably because they want to spend time with their families.
^
I really like it how both the forums and the in-game chat/emoticons are clean in this matchup. I haven’t seen anyone swearing against another server or had people corpse jumping, adding to party just to swear etc like I have seen in the past. Let’s keep it clean and classy for the whole week
PS : shout-out to the RS Twilight-wielding guardian that killed me after I stole his sentry cap yesterday. I thought it was an easy fight and was rather quickly shown why one should never underestimate his opponent.
I really liked how people from SFR spammed /bow (one even pressed /cry) after they killed our greatly outnumbered group outside bay’s doors today (around an hour before this post, if I recall correctly) and I’d like to say “thank you”. It was a rather pleasant surprise.
With the risk that I will sound boring, considering how many times it has been explained already :
Before i left after a whole night of fighting, two guildies and I wanted to take a tower at SFR borderland. We took the blue one. Why? Because it was easier at that time.
Every other time we take the green ones. Why? Because it is easier.
SFR camps (and some times the towers, or even keeps!) don’t have guards. Even worse, there are times we see people around but don’t really care because it’s pretty obvious they are pve players running around. Yesterday I took the southwest camp (belonging to SFR) in a borderland while three SFR were flipping the sentry in front… This morning I built a golem in the northeast camp (of SFR bl) I had just taken while an SFR was killing the dolyaks right in front of me (and then he just LEFT).
When the risk of attacking a camp/tower is the same, I prefer to attack SFR ones. Why? Since the start of this matchup I have had the luck to speak to more than 10 “enemies” that were friendly. Only one of those was from SFR. The rest of the times I got messages from SFR people mentioning how “mesmers are only for those that can’t play real professions” (seriously, a regen warrior saying something like that? he also didn’t put it in such since words, if you get what I mean..) or “dirty” messages about my family. Or just the good old corpse jumping by 15 people that then proceed to spam /laugh. I also never got a /bow from an SFR player – neither on duels I lost nor in cases we had to break it up before the duel was over – seeing /bow emoticons from vizunah players is rather usual. So yeah, when I have to choose between a green and a blue objective that have the same risk I’ll attack the green one. I would pick that green one no matter who the blue side was or how much each server’s tick was.
There is something seriously wrong with your community SFR. Being a former Desolation player, I have had many chances to fight against SFR and the community was never this bad – it was actually rather cool, at least that was how I could see it from the outside. Try to solve that rather than go on the offensive with conspiracy theories. Let’s have a better matchup, without toxicity and conspiracies, when we all meet again together.
(edited by chriskin.3298)
I want to say thanks to the OdS guys for the nice fights today.
A tip if I may : Getting in a shadow refuge on really low health when a mesmer is really close to you with his Illusionary Wave not on cooldown is not a wise idea. I killed 4 BB thieves today (3 were OdS, can’t remember the fourth one :$) when they made that mistake.
I hope I’ll get the chance to fight some of you again in the next days.
Sorry for playing badly and blobbing – that’s what happens when your server is ticking 500+ and you play without really caring about managing your skills right.
I respect the fact that we are playing against servers with lower coverage and I never bring my level 20something alt (even though he’s my last one and I’d like to level him eventually) since I consider that to be an insult. You guys have enough to deal with already because of our numbers to be worthy of respect. I apologize but I won’t stop playing WvW for a whole week, though, even if that means that I have to run this week in a blob spamming my 1 button without even bothering to get on teamspeak.
I hope that some guild raids will be fun for all of us, because the blobbing isn’t fun for us either.
Let’s try to remember the nice parts of this matchup. For example, I had the luck to fight (together with a warrior from my server) a duo of mesmer/guardian from AM and I can say I really enjoyed that fight.
PS : good job @ GH for the Stonemist and EB keep cap
