Yesterday was the first day since league with no queue on one of the enemy borderlands. Sadly i had a disconnect 1h later. So the whole evening was standing in queue.
So i made a 2 levels with my warrior, made a few dragons, crafting and went to bed.
That is probably all i can do as i don’t play other MMOs at the moment.
I think it is a good thing that the german players don’t answer to stacked servers with an even more stacked server.
And as much as i hate SFR for their arrogance and as much as i wish elona and kodash would beat the crap out of you in our prime time i think that we won’t see double teaming next week when you have elona / kodash /sfr as matchup.
But that is just my opinion and guess, as i can’t tell how others think on kodash.
Well Ballista is only a good defense weapon if you know that the enemy will breach through the gates sooner or later. We defended hill once with around 30 to 40 people against 70 to 80 for about 3h. We even repped the gate only to 5% on purpose to have enough time to go get some supplyes and rebuild everything so they can attack again. (farm ftw.)
We had 2 superior ballistas, 4 arrow carts and 2 trebs as defense. They pushed over the bridge in inner keep about 10 times and couldn’t break through mainly because ballistas kill downed people near instantly and so they couldn’t rezz their downed players.
So if you have to defend a keep against an enemy face to face and not with a gate between you, ballistas are crucial. (Hill and garrison espacially because of the tight space.)
From Sept. 1:
I can’t comment at this time as we haven’t finalized anything. In addition, you should look at it this way, if people flee lower league servers to get into the top leagues, it opens the opportunity for people to move to those lower leagues and finish 1st or 2nd, rather than being in the top league and finishing 6th or 7th. The rewards for finishing 2nd in the Bronze League will be markedly better than the rewards for finishing 6th in the Gold league.
Yes that makes sence. Abandon the low rank server of each league and move to lower league top servers to make those leagues also more imbalanced. Seriously? So we at kodash should have left our server in EU, gold league, rank 9 and move to a bronze top 3 server? Let kodash have the 7 most terrible weeks and roflstomp the lower rank servers of the other leagues?
Good logic. I don’t see how it solves the stacked server problem.
It’s like making one pupil from each grade, 1 trough 9, fight each other and telling them that who wins most fights in the end gets the most candy.
Lol nice comparison

Haha. Queues are the only thing balancing server population over time. If Queues dissappear T1 Servers will become even bigger.
It is good that they try to bring in more players into the maps. Often people don’t even try to play WvW because it is a PvP styled gamemode. I was one of them. But it is so much fun that i play at least 70% of the time wvw now.
Of course high populated servers have queues but that is the price for greater forces and better time coverage.
Changing this would only punish the small servers which already have enough disadvantages.
Also queue times are the only balancing factor at the moment that drives guilds to transfer to smaller servers. (Besides server drama)
We noticed more players on our borderlands yesterday and so our raidlead started to talk about all the special things in wvw and why we do this and that.
There was a lot of positive response and we have now a few more players that will play wvw more often.
I see both sides.
Yes it sucks the top 3 servers are so stacked that 4/5/6 will get pummeled.
But competitions and sports are like that.Look at the NBA. Over the course of a 80 game season, does anyone think teams like Miami, Oklahoma City, San Antonio will ever finish behind teams like Toronto, Phoenix, or Milwaukee? No, but they play the season anyways.
Sure on any given night one of the weaker teams in basketball will prevail, much like in WvW the weaker side may hold a PPT advantage for an hour or two… but in the end, inevitably, the stronger side will prevail.
Getting beaten down isn’t the awesomest thing ever, but it’s certainly better than being the one doing the beating in WvW. At least when you’re losing there’s always a fight to be had. It really stinks getting home from work and ticking for 600+ all week like last week when we faced Yak’s Bend and NSP. It’s not like winning is a glorious feat. Anyone can transfer to tier 1 if they want. Go out for the fights and the chance to learn and see new things. Whichever 2 of FA/SoS/Mag/SBI make gold league, it’s a good chance to farm bags for 7 weeks!
Pls no sport comparisons. What you describe is the result of skill and talent. What we have is the result of big wvw servers with 24/7 coverage vs. small server with let’s assume 6h coverage.
We have the same problem in T1 EU.
I would like to face high tier servers if the skill lag wasn’t so bad. It takes the fun out of beeing the underdog when all the skill is worth nothing because 80 man roflstomp you in a giant lag fest.
With the point progression we see at the moment, i fear we at kodash can’t even go to silver league because we make so many points from getting roflstomped by vizuna, sfr, piken and riverside that it is nearly impossible to drop to silver league. (Best example last matchup vs sfr and vizu with +27.847)
So if we wan to leave the league we have to stop playing what isn’t really an option. If that’s what we wanted to do we would have done that in the first place to enter silver league.
I hope i am wrong there as i don’t feel like we are a gold league server with our 6h activity window and 18h outnumbered buff.
But silver league looks like a lot of fun. Enjoy it.
Thanks to all the kodash players on Aurora BL yesterday evening. We had 4 guild groups and a small public raid and it was really a experience to see the advantages of multiple small guild raids. Unfortunatelly the disadvantage was that it was quiet difficult to play a deciding role in the bay fights right before JS capped it.
But over all it was alot of fun.
Was really fun last evening on vizu borderlands. Thanks to ASAP for the welcome raid. Was fun. But i will be happy when this is over. Last matchup vs. Aurora and Gunner we had nice fights without skilllags and if it lagged you could at least fire your skills.
Against SFR and Vizu it is impossible to play without em. You run around for a few minutes because skills are not fireing and then all over sudden you die because of whatever happend in the last 20 seconds where you couldn’t do anything. It’s not fun because of that i invested a small amount of time for the project ascended weapons.
The last 2 days will be interesting as we have our official holiday at thursday and a lot of people stay at home on friday. Maybe we are even less populated, or we will see a way better coverage in the last 2 days of this matchup.
Yeah you come when guilds left gg. I suppose pvd is still strong on VZ? As for kodash on sfr last night. Yes I was hunting you at north camp and every where, we had 20-25 CoN and wanted the good fights not the blobs…And you wre the only entertainment until 9 cet pm,when we ended our raid as Vz come later it seems az always
….
And as I said you lead full zone zerg in Bay and think I will not defended it an call the others or what. We had 2 guild raids and 1 cmd for the randoms. We ran 3 separate groups so… yeah call us blobing again…
I don’t get it who thinks that you give bay away without a fight?
How many Golems did Kodash just lose?
Kodash players had alot of fun yesterday night on aurora hill and later on EB. After the last push from TUP at hill we were guessing that they wanted to take bay so we rushed that to defend it aswell. After nothing happend we decided to finally reset aurora garrison which we couldn’t cap the last few days due to real heavy defense.
After that we jumped on EB build around 25 golems and then the shutdown message popped up. From then on it was alot of fun to fight the clock.
Sadly shutdown stopped us when it became really interesting in Stonemist lordroom.
Yes it seems like we on kodash have a decent morning crew at least compared to GH and Ag. (We had a huge morning raid with 30 to 40 people before alot of guilds left us)
Usually our weakest time is from noon to 5 or 6 pm. Since i play WvW, this didn’t change so i think it is sort of #justagermanthing.
Fights are really great i can’t tell when i had that much fun in a matchup ever before.
Especially our new guilds that joined us have a huge potential to ignite the flame in alot of kodashis that felt that WvW became boring within the last 3 to 4 months.
Really enjoyed the community raids with the leaders from [BAN] and the welcome raid yesterday from DSV.
As the only oppurtunity to raid with DSV was only half an hour yesterday i can’t say much but [BAN] commanders even managed to tame the beast that is called kodash public zerg. Couldn’t believe that we had a chance in fights against guild raids of the same size. They have a totally different lead style to what we normally have on kodash. And even if it seems that this style doesn’t fit kodash it is more likely that alot of people missed that kind of playstyle. (We probabaly didn’t knew that we missed it until now ) Very aggressiv, fast and always till the last person dies no matter how many opponents. Even a whipe brings a smile on my face because it felt so great that all people really work together instead of forming formation spray sausage and run around like headless chicken.
Hell, they even managed to bring the joy of smallscale fights to a skillbob like i am one.
So i am really happy about the matchup and have alot of fun and want to say welcome and thank you to all the guilds that joined us.
Rock – paper – scissors has a winner and loser, but cannot be considered a competitive game. Simply by chance one side wins the match. The outcome is not based on actual skill, there is no real competition. In the context of WvW coverage decides the winner of the match-up. Most WvW’ers on my server have to work on the next day, therefore the night coverage is low. During the night our opponents can accumuluate points without resistance. How can you call a gamemode that lacks opponents competitive?! Competitive games are built one the idea of equal numbers, equal starting positions, equal gear, … . WvW is the opposite of competitive.
I must have been on drugs when i saw rock paper scissors world championship on eurosports a few years ago. It was fun to watch thou. And i guess there is some sort of skill involved because you always try to find out what your opponent is doing next and try to find a pattern to predict his next action.
In the end WvW is as competitive as every other sport. If might be not a fair competition at most times but that doesn’t change the competitive aspect of the game. It just questions if the competition makes any sence for the low populated servers. And that’s why the small servers play most of the time for the fun and not for the competition.
However on our server kodash we can see what gvg guilds do to the server because they left us and we are now much weaker then we are a few months before. However that doesn’t stop us from having fun and our small scale guild groups still have their competition.
