Legendaries were always craftable via the forge with some stages using actual crafting,
okay, cool. So what stages?
New legendaries can’t be made. Old legendaries can be.
You can ‘make’ a precursor exactly the same way you could ‘make’ a precursor before HoT was released. Craft weapon of choice either rare or exotic and throw it into the Mystic Forge
The precursor crafting was also not “taken away” from anyone since it didn’t exist beforehand. It was added with HoT, as a HoT feature.
hmm so im confused & misinformed. I thought crafting back in the day was for creating Legendaries like “this” thread explains.

SuburbanLion: One word: Legendaries. The Legendary weapons require crafted items which are account bound. So to get one, you’ll need to level up at least 2 crafting professions to 400.
Now, if Yargesh and Red Queen is right, what did SuburbanLion mean 3 years ago?
And Vayne, how is crafting a legendary possible now? Every recipe stems from Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs (requiring masteries) or achievements (requiring… masteries). So far, it sounds like the only reason to master crafting previously was to craft exotics & throw them into the mystic dump hoping a pre will pop out? Bummer!

So I recently started playing GW2 again & am finally hitting walls from not having the expansion. up until now, I was interested crafting legendaries & invested heavily into the trades only to find out I need to Obtain Revered Antiquarian, the first rank in the Legendary Crafting mastery track. Looking into what the heck that is I find out its locked: Upgrade to Heart of Thorns… Kind of annoying since crafting has been a thing since before the expansion—fine, whatever!
I fist want to know if im right in saying any crafting precursor cannot be made; & unless I buy the weapon, Im limited to ascended. Second, has anything else in similar fashion been taken away from the original gw2 account players? This thread “here” describes a similar complaint, but it only expresses frustration to added features that should be available to non-upgrading players. Personally, Im fine w/ not having new features—keep ur guild halls & silly gliders—but blocking access to old features without warning kinda hurts!
