Skimpy clothing preference

I like skimpy armour, heehee… I mean, I’m a girl, but I like my characters to look sexy all the same. My Norn is hot. She’s just so buxom and beautiful! I gotta show off those gifts to the world.

But +1 for having sexy male armour, there’s a set my Guardian is wearing… Pit Fighter I think. It shows off his chest very nicely!

Color blind gamer: Issues seeing red circles

I think the issue with yellow circles is that it may be significantly easier to see such that even non colour-blind players could enable the colour-blind setting for easier game play. There would have to be some middle ground which is more visible to colour-blind players but not noticeably different to normal players.

As an example of what I’m thinking, there is this colour scheme website which has a range of settings for different types of colour-blindness, that alters the colours in the colour scheme so we can discern the differences.

Having a colour blind option that modifies the colour in red circles similarly would avoid the possibility of a ‘colour-blind option’ that makes game play for non colour-blind people easier.

This has bugged me for ages. It’s crazy there isn’t at least colour blind developer who could’ve noticed something like this.

Red is a tough colour for the colour-blind, quite possibly the hardest to see for all the different types of colour-blindness. I know it stands out to people with normal colour sight, but not to us.

I almost never see the red circles, especially when they’re nearly always on green/brown ground, and I really LOOK for these circles. I notice when a boss or mob has a delayed AoE mechanic and start looking for them.

Some of my friends have told me that sometimes I’ll move out of a red circle then straight back into it, in time to get hit.

Aren’t there alternative colours to red that, just by changing the pigments a little, are much easier to see for people with colour-blindness?

Aggro/Threat and the lack of dedicated "Tanks"

Something that I feel is sometimes overlooked is control abilities, espcially in pugs. Things like immobolize, blind, cripple, daze and stun, weakness and chill. All of these things reduce enemy damage output, mobility and (in the cases of daze and stun) reduce stacks of defiance to interrupt those punishing channeled/cast timebilities. This is the “Control” feature that essentially replaces the tank role, and it is about reducing or preventing the enemies from doing damage as opposed to being able to take damage.

Now when I say overlooked, what I mean is that sometimes when I’m in a dungeon I don’t see anyone else utilizing these
these kinds of things when they can play such a huge role in keeping everyone alive. Normally to easily reduce defiance on bosses to stop them from casting a particularly nasty skill you need at least two people who can cast daze or stun on them, some classes can build so that they have up to 2 or 3 stuns/dazes available to do just this, although these kinds of builds aren’t very balanced in terms of damage/support/control. Which is why for a dungeon build it is important of being mindful of the balance between these three features and having some form of control available, which you don’t tend to get in a pick up group.

I think, ideally, in a dungeon group there should be enough of a spread among the members to effectively avoid taking deadly amounts of damage, in terms of what conditions and what boons are availalble in an encounter.
Actually having this happen, especially in a pick up, is another thing entirely.

That’s not an excuse not to be mindful of these kinds of things though :P

I guess if you’re going to make a Charr Scholar class, go with a smaller build.

The Orders in Orr

I think it sounds pretty cool :P As far as ideas go this one is pretty coherent. The thought of the 70 to 80 storyline missions maintaining the themes of the chosen order is appealing, furthering the uniqueness of the possible available stories. Perhaps following much the same format as the initial Order segment of the story lines, only instead of your tutor, you have Trahearne, proposing a choice of two missions that relate to your expertise as a decorated member of the (Vigil, Whispers or Priory), and not just you as “The Commander.”

This would reduce the generic feeling you get from being “The Commander”, an entity that is streamlined for what seems to act like the Pact’s Secret Weapon, of which there is several million (The players). On one hand we can see some of the reasoning behind the choice made by the developers in dubbing us as “The Commander,” as it means we transcend the differences that are represented by the three Orders, and as such the 5 races, however this has the unfortunate outcome of negating other features that add to a players immersion in the narrative.

While there is still some variation available in the 70 to 80 missions, this section does seem to have less gripping story than some of the earlier missions, and this is in part due to the uniqueness gained from earlier choices being undermined by becoming “The Commander.” I personally didn’t encounter a mission I didn’t enjoy until this final 70 to 80 stretch, and while this doesn’t bother me in respect of the over all game, I haven’t been as compelled to complete the end of the story as I was in the beginning and subsequent developments.

This is my perspective on the Orr segment of the story missions. I still haven’t completed all of the level 80 story missions, but your post has prompted me to do some constructive reflection.
