Thieves are often perceived as hidden and elusive. While I understand and respect that Guild Wars 2 challenges players to manage their time in the shadows and use it wisely (for it is limited), providing an out-of-combat/out-of-PvP-areas permanent stealth would be a great addition to the profession.
While some may be tempted to jump in and consider it an unfair advantage, a pertinent analysis can prove otherwise.
Making the ability not completely undetectable should not provide an unfair advantage in world exploration.
Adding a relevant cooldown should prevent thieves from going into permanent stealth during combat while under the effect of the already existing temporary stealth modes; this cooldown may be triggered every time the player activates such abilities.
Disabling permanent stealth in PvP areas and during combat should not interfere with the profession’s mechanics and will still challenge the player to time and calculate their moves.
It can be something found in the gem store or earned in-game. The effect shouldn’t necessarily make the player completely invisible if doing so would be considered an advantage, but instead offer that “camouflaged” look. There are many ways to make this elegant, original and entertaining.
Being interested in both themes and the general balance of the game, I think that such an addition could really contribute to and highly improve the ‘feel’ of the profession.
What are your thoughts on this matter?

In your opinion, which race is most adequate for a thief (look-wise, lore-wise; even personal-opinion-wise, etc)?
What’s your all time favorite profession when it comes to its “theme” and why?
I’ve played virtually every profession in the game to at least level 40 and I’ve never had major problems soloing groups, personal story quests (2-3 levels higher) and even most events with any of them, except with my thief. I have trouble defeating groups of three. My elementalist can handle larger groups without a scratch, ironically.
What weapon set/strategy do you recommend for fighting three or more enemies?
Egh, so many variables, huh? Single target damage/single target dps; separately, both mobs and players.
Which profession has the most potential (I’m talking about the given, not the player’s influence) to do the most single target damage/the most burst?
Based on your experience and knowledge of the professions, who do you reckon could take on more foes (in PvE) between an elementalist and a thief?
