HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

ArenaNet has shown they are not interested in loyal players. They want to churn through new players. They expect everyone to leave after six months (most of the loyal players from Guild Wars in our guild did) and never come back, and who cares about them anyway.
I have no reason to pay full price for a game I already have. I don’t want another character slot as I have no interest in the revenant. I don’t even have an interest in half of the characters I have. My husband has three unused character slots. I do have an interest in a guild hall, but it’s not worth the price of another game. There are plenty of other games to spend the money on.
I pre-purchased GW2 Deluxe edition hoping for the best. It’s not GW and never will be, alas. I would like to see Guild Halls, but I’m not paying 44.99 for a guild hall. I don’t want another character slot. My husband has three unused character slots. Gems could swing it, maybe. It’s still 34.99 for a Guild Hall. Is it enough to bring me back playing regularly, if at all?
And this thing about having to buy the whole game every time you want an expansion is just rubbish too. I have spent plenty of gems on things I want, not on what ArenaNet thinks I should be getting.
I agree with just about everything. And I would love to have alliances as well, where guilds can group together without having to join each other’s guilds.
Yeah, I so miss guild halls myself. And alliance.
Recipes? Where are these recipes? I got my artificer above level 450 and there is still no sign of a recipe using Essence of Luck, not even the lowest level ones giving 10. Does it have to drop from somewhere? Do I have to do a level gazillion fractal or super-crappy jumping puzzle to get one as a reward? The Master Craftsman does not sell them, and they don’t appear in the list of recipes. There is no clue in the game. Sorry Anet, this is badly done, no matter how useful or useless the recipes are.
The crafting thing seems to be buggy anyway. My weaponsmith got no new recipes at level 450 at all. I had to restart the game to see them. But sometimes things I know I can make just don’t appear in the list anyway, and I have to restart.

Rich Mahogany [HoM] is based on Seafarer’s Rest and we do Guild Bounties on Saturday afternoons, 3pm UK time and a Dungeon on Sunday evenings. (You can find out more about us at our website http://www.richmahoganyhall.com.)
We don’t recruit actively and we usually send potential members to check out the website to see if they would fit in.
If you have a small guild and would like to do guild bounties, we are happy to take on some like-minded allies who would join us for the guild quests. Basically you would join us and represent for the quests, then play with your own group for the rest of the time. I’m thinking of small groups of close friends or family, 2-5 people type thing.
You don’t have to be on Seafarer’s Rest, but you do need to be in Europe to guest on the day.
Please mail me or Doom Kitty (or both!) ingame if you’re interested.

Home World: Seafarer’s Rest
Guild Name: Rich Mahogany [HoM]
Guild Website: http://www.richmahoganyhall.com
In-Game Contact: Recna Mor Cena or Doom Kitty
Focus: PvE
Quick Notes: Preferably 18+, unless you’re a member’s kid or grandkid. We do a dungeon on Sunday nights, and a Bounty on Saturday afternoons. If you have/are a very small guild and would like to join the Bounties you are welcome to join and represent just for those, and keep to your own guild for the rest of the time, a bit like GW original allies.
What bothers me most about the female human light armour is that it’s all skirts. Many of them are horrible bubble skirts. There was a personal story where the characters wore a pirate disguise, and the tailored trousers looked quite fabulous. Closest I can find to trousers are the ascalon catacombs exotic leggings. I am not 100% satisfied, but I’ll probably get those for my asuran female mesmer as well. Her armour choices are also quite horrible. I can’t say I like any of the armour in the game, to be honest. The crafted rare leggings for the male charr… yowza they’re ugly. My male sylvari engineer looks like he’s going to a ball, not a warzone. What has happened to lovely design like the Kurzick Elite of old?
When you join your son’s guild in the US region, and your friends’ guild in the European region, it kinda makes it hard to choose which region to stay in or move to.
If there had been no option to join multiple guilds, the question wouldn’t arise, I guess. But you can join multiple guilds provided you don’t actually want to represent them.
So Colin Johansen has said there will be no guesting across regions, GW2 is not Guild Wars.
We have noticed that. I often wonder why they called the game Guild Wars 2, which is a misnomer by far.
In any case, we have a situation where most of our original guild and alliance from Guild Wars formed a guild in GW2. These members cover multiple countries and time zones, and also American and European Servers. They used to be able to change servers to join us and then go back to their home worlds; America and Europe sleep at different times. It was awkward having to change for 7 days, but lots did.
Now those on American servers are stuck there, and cannot join us on our European server for events and dungeons and general playing together.
What am I supposed to do with these members? Kick them? We’ve been having a discussion in our Facebook group. I think the most poignant comment was:
" I was just hoping they would fix it so I could play with you guys and I like to check in and see what fun things you guys are up to. Representing from US does not benefit anyone so if you want me to leave the guild I will, it’s just I have always felt HoM was my home."
Does that make anyone feel good? Shutting out long-standing guild members who have become friends playing the original game?
One of our guild members had his account hacked, and the hacker looted the guild bank. I have always wanted a daily limit on how much can be withdrawn.
We’ve had another run, and my problems with Commander in PvE remain the same.
It would also be good to be able to put withdrawal limits on the guild stash, so that a hacked account can’t plunder it.
I tend to agree with Aye. It’s easy to have a lot of members on the roster that only play in the guild occasionally, for dungeons or events, and are active in other guilds for a lot of the time. Or who have jobs and real life and play occasionally. If scaling were introduced, we would just have to kick everyone who didn’t play daily. That’s rather harsh.
After a couple of months of crafting my way to a Commander title specifically for guild events, I find it completely lacks functionality in PvE. If it is meant to be a WvW facility, then it should only be sold by vendors in the WvW area and not in the big cities. Currently the only things it offers is squad chat, which guild chat can easily cover, and some map markers that only I can use. I really have no need of /squadinfo to see what supplies squad members have.
But as I have bought it, and find it useless, let me give you my expectations for PvE.
- It really ought be easier to join a squad. I would like to be able to invite people in from the guild roster, and they ought to be able to join in the same way. It would also be nice if entire parties could join the squad with one click.
- It would be nice to see where the squad members are. Little yellow dots for those not in your immediate party, which are normally shown as blue. Everyone in the squad needs this. Otherwise we may as well play in map, not form a squad, and just hope we can find each other.
- Squad members need to be able to ping areas and mark areas on the map seen by squad, same as in a party. It doesn’t help for someone in the squad to say “rich vein here”, “bounty boss here”, “event here”, without being able to ping us where “here” actually is.
I understand that WvW players probably want to keep Commander exactly as it is in WvW. I think functionality can toggle for WvW and PvE. My armor changes when I’m in the Heart of the Mists, my helmet and weapons change when I’m underwater, so surely Commander functions can change for WvW and PvE.
I think our entire guild was expecting an extended party system for Squad.
