I have had none of those problems. I started with a necro and just kept the stock build for the story mission and didn’t die at all. Now the first time I went up against one of the bounty champions or the hydras, that’s a different story….
Sure, the raptor movement is a little different from moving your char by itself, but if you think of it like the glider (which also doesn’t really strafe) and just control direction with the camera, I’ve found it feels really smooth and natural.
All graphics have looked fine, but I have a higher-end setup, I guess. Might be a bug with certain settings.
And I love my character in the story. She’s no-nonsense.
The bow (and virtue) combat seems to be a lot more about positioning, which honestly makes combat more engaging than just getting next to the enemy and hitting 1-5. I think the longbow is definitely what the guardian was lacking, and I’m enjoying it so far. I think the specializations seem to all be pretty limited, but it’s definitely a solid system, and I’m excited to see how they roll out new specializations in the future. I’ve always used my guardian for support and control, but the longbow (I traded out staff from my non-HoT build) gives you a decent range option at the cost of some support without really giving up control. Damage isn’t everything.
Yeah, what’s the deal on this? This stance conflicts with what’s been stated by Gaile Gray, and with NC Soft as your parent company, do they get the final say? I have old GW1 videos that I never monetized getting flagged for 3rd party content now. Am I going to lose my good standing on YouTube?
Most of the people in my guild just refer to Tequatl as “Teq” (pronounced like tech). Like Claw of Jormag is “Claw” (I give people a hard time for referring to this one as Jormag), and “The Shatterer” is “Shatner.”
I’m thinking I might have better luck if I guest on a low-population server during off-peak hours. It probably doesn’t help me much that I’m on Dragonbrand.
I still haven’t nabbed this one. I don’t even have any idea where the crystals are supposed to spawn, since they never even appear on screen, so it’s not even a crap shoot for me. Instead of having more than 5, they could just make them take more than one hit, like the OTHER crystals he spawns. This achievement is stupid as it stands.
Yeah, those temps are remarkably low. Usually you don’t start to see heat-related problems unless the CPU is going over 80C. Perhaps get some stress-testing software (start with Prime95) and see if you can’t narrow down the problem by inducing crashes through specific tests.
So, I am a map completion addict, and I am mostly okay with WvW being included in 100% completion, but is there any particular reason that Dragonbrand is ALWAYS FREAKIN’ GREEN!? I think that with all of those complex algorithms for determining rank and matchup, something should be done to change what color you get so that we can actually finish the maps without having to wake up at 5 am to check if we’ve taken the Woodhaven tower. It’s really frustrating to have to wait over a month for this.
If you want an offical response, then send a support ticket. Anet rarely frequent the forums
Not reading and not responding are two completely different things. ANet constantly scours the forums.
Although, I have the strange feeling that the HoD players who jumped here for the easy ride to the top will again abandon ship when the server reaches the top, and all pile on a low ranked server once more.
Pretty much exactly why we need some sort of server transfer penalty. Even if we aren’t going to get gem costs for transfers until guesting is ready, there should be something to discourage jumping from server to server, like a 48-hour WvW ban which can be lifted early for the gem cost.
Free server transfers pretty much makes any kind of match making data that Anet has completely worthless. Hopefully this sort of silliness will get sorted out once the 2 week matches start (and transfers are restricted).
P.S. These guys will probably leave SoS just like they left their other servers. Maybe Kaineng has some hope?
That’s pretty much the whole problem, as I see it. I wouldn’t mind the server hopping so much if it cost 1800 gems a head. It’s a bit frustrating to have guilds run to losing servers so that they can keep winning. Maybe those who went to SoS enjoys a good noob stomp, but it’s really not that fun for the less coordinated servers.
Please, devs, charge for server transfers, or at least restrict WvW for 48 hours or something. This just sucks the fun out of what would otherwise be the best PvP I’ve played.

I’m a little bothered by the change in targeting. Can you at least add a key option to break all targeting? I like to have auto-attack on, but sometimes I need to make it stop. I used to break targets by turning away from enemies and targeting closest, but that doesn’t work anymore.
spam political debate in LA its ok but no swearing!

This has been clearly explained by ArenaNet staff on more than one occasion, too. You say there’s a reason that there is a filter, as though you put it in the game yourself. Always assume that local and map chat has kids, and act accordingly and respectably.
As someone that’s played well over 100 hours, I enjoy the novelty. I do get the impression that I’m a minority, but I can often be found shouting, “This rose has thorns! Here they are!”
We do appreciate that you’d like to buy lots of new content, but we’d prefer to give a lot of it to you for free, cause that’s what we think a responsible MMO company does!
Oh, Colin, you say all the right things!
I do find it amusing people think because there is a profanity filter it gives them carte blanche to talk like Howard Stern in local chat.
Yeah, I find that amusing, too. The best part is that ArenaNet (you know, those people who created the profanity filter) has stated that the reason for it is NOT to give people free reign for swearing in chat. I can’t speak very highly of someone who believes that it’s entrapment.
I played Guild Wars for 5 years, and my guild chat was full of some pretty profane stuff. I never received a strike for language, and as far as I know, nobody in any of my guilds did either. It’s really simple: keep in clean in public chats. I don’t mean FCC clean, I mean that you should be a respectful and helpful member of the community. If you can’t figure out how to be nice to other players, then yes, please refrain from using chat.
The wildly flailing ban-hammer is a result of a massive number of players in the early life of a game that are used to other online communities. Examples are being made to let these new members of the GW family know that the ANet staff are serious about maintaining a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment.
And no, InstantIdiocy, they don’t have automated chat monitoring, so your friend must have let his tongue loose in some other public chat.
I really don’t understand why so many people seem to have a problem with this.
