For raids I have been running conditions and that seems to be much better than beserker reaper for raids. Same for higher level fractals. In lower level fractals and open world content, berserker seems better than condi. This has been my build so far http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNArYRn0ICd2gN3AW3Ac4gFjBbKFEDeBx7wh4RM6nFAOAA-TBzCQBHU9HAcEAkmFEqQTwxeQBUZ/gvZ+5daIeoyv7pHZCnShxoEkUAwssC-e
Taking lich for the jagged horrors. If your team is low on CC’s trade it for flesh golem.
I highly recomend using full vipers over any other set. Failing that, sinisters. Ive been toying with the idea of just getting the vipers ascended neck piece, with sinister acessories, and using 4 nightmare and 2 trapper runes. Either way, a full condi dps build is good and all the surviviability you should need for raids. For me, dying from damage is never the issue, its always dying from mechanics not being executed correctly.
Interesting build. Do you have any video or guide for this?
Full viper is the way to go for conditions?
Are really berserkers bad for raids? I love it for events and all, but I can understand that isn’t that good for raids…
Well I’ve around 2300 golds, and I looking around a build for raiding. I’m more of the power guy that enjoy big numbers and that awesome greatsword, but I don’t mind playing condition too.
I want to start crafting my trinkets/weapons, so which one could be the best to start?
Zerker for power or cavalier/knight build for “free” crit? As for condition, viper set? It’s hard to get viper?
What would you recommend me guys? Power or Condition for raids? For fractals maybe power it’s better, right? But raids? I cano’t affor 2 full sets (maybe) so I’ve to select one and start making it and make some gold for another in the near future.
Is this build still viable? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kNEL3Q8Jl0&list=PLrzL2tyd59u7Q2xEryPmCtlV39p87CpOV

I’m really pretty sick with the actitude in the forums.
Yes we’re not the burster killer anymore, still we kill fast and have good control over the combat and nice tools to drop the batle when we want to do it.
I rarely get killed in PvP except when I’m goin crazy and jump in to the big cleave, but that’s my fault. I rarely get killed in 1v1, why? because I didn’t stay in the battle every time, our gameplay isn’t do the brawler job, we are not fighters, we have to play with the envoirment and our tools in order to no get catched and avoid all the dmg that we can. Yes, we have tools, kitten .
About our damage: We still have an absurd toons of damage sources and the best % damage multipliers in the game. Staff it’s insanely epic. Vault/bound kills trash and avoid toons of dmg in raid. Hell… with muy guild I’m the last who dies in Sabetha, and I’m full zerk o_oU.
I’m not goin to say that thief it’s perfect, because it’s not. We have our things, yes. But please, for common sense, stop spreading that word. We. Don’t. Suck. Just need some attention from the devs, but far very faaaaar to be the worst class ingame. The only thing I want it’s devs bring us some form of support like mesmer with alacrity. That’s would be amazing and thief deserve it. Something for the group, but ofc, offensive one.
Yes, thief it’s not for everybody. Yes there are more classes that can match our dmg with less gimmiks and that’s fine.
There is a team that com completed the raid with a DD, so… What about not true at all?
.
The first boss was tested in the beta.Quite frankly we don’t know what kind of support is viable as no one has played the raid in its current state.
Do you really belive anet will change so much the encounter? It was the last month…. so, who knows?
I do belive people are so obssed with the “meta”. Every encounter can be made with whatever you like, elitism is bad for the game.
If the raids required the meta to succeed that would be a pretty kitten design, as meta is by definition the most optimal. Optimal does not entail required. If Arena Net has made the encounters so precise as to require the meta they will be going back on their previous statements about making the new content interesting enough to be done by diverse groups of players taking on the different roles required. They would be going back on their commitment to balancing the professions such that they can be any one of those roles.
I have to ask, what kind of guild are you in that you fear being excluded for playing a particular profession? I suggest relocating if it is actually the case that your guild would not take you on as a Necromancer that does Direct DPS as a reaper, condition damage, or control through fear and other effects. I’m not familiar with necro support all that much, so I’m not sure if that is viable. Quite frankly we don’t know what kind of support is viable as no one has played the raid in its current state.
The first boss was tested in the beta. In fact it exists a couple of videos on youtube, one of them even do it with a Reaper :/…

Dire rapper is best PvE class in game. Top dps in dragon stance.
Sorry I don’t get it.
“Low quality trolling since launch”
yup
Ok first, thanks to all of you for the comments. It helps a lot, and means so much for me.
I belive that Raids have to be difficult and not something that you are allowed to do with pugs, at least at first. I complete all the Turns in FFXIV and most raids back in WoW. But I disgust elitism, so far it doesn’t bring anything good. Competition it’s cool, but I’m not a elitist guy nor I’m here for tops or leaderboards tbh…
Having fun while doing hard content with friends it’s way more cooler than anything, it doesn’t matter it took ages to complete them.
Before playing with my necro, I’ve dedicate a whole weekend to play with all classes in sPvP. Learning the basics and all as I could from each class. Of course I’m not a master and I missed a lot of stuff, but I learned minimally well.
Necro was my favorite, as I wished. Thief the closest second. Then ofc I do like more classes, but that’s my favorite ones so far. Necro, especially the Reaper, it’s hella fun and I really love it, and suit me very well.
For now I will go on with my Necro, it doesnt matter if people don’t like it, and I’m going to be more patience and trying that does not affect me what people say. About Raids, well… will see what happends, but I will not lose any hope of being able to enter them with some group
Thanks again fellow necros.
P.D: I’m from EU, thanks for ask btw!
Is Necro subpar in PvE? Yes, though we’re getting a lot closer. Where does that matter? Pretty much only in specific group content. Random zerging in PvE or the big bosses Necromancer is just fine.
So that means that noone will bring me on raids…. because necro it’s subpar :/…
I wish there was an advice when I create that class: “Play it only if you want to be subpar to the rest”.
-_- Thinkin’ on rerrolling, don’t know what to do right now…
I just want to share some ‘experiences’ I had this weekend…
So, I’m quite new to GW2, I’ve started a month priot to HoT release. I’ve done the 100% map completition with my Necro, it was something good and amazing. I really enjoyed that stuff so much.
I love my necro class, I always played undead/necro/demon classes if it exists. It’s the theme I most liked, maybe because I’m a huge Lovecraft fan, maybe not, who knows? Well anyway, the thing is… after hit 80 and done map completition, I go trought Maguuma, unlocked Reaper and enjoyed soooo much the class and content… before this weekend.
Why? Because I started to do some dungeons/fractals and even in some map events were so many people trying to convince me to reroll my class… because it’s bad and it shouldn’t exist anymore in pve (wtf?).
Ok, I can understand that necros aren’t the best in terms of supporting the team as well as others, so much self sustain and all… but c’mon? My reaper it’s doing things pretty well, dmg it’s quite good and I can even solo a lot of stuff… but I was kicked from 2 dungeons only for being a necro, and in a map event with many few people someone told me that thanks to me, the event it’s slow because necro dmg suck…
The worst thing now is that I started to being worried for my position in Raids. I don’t have a guild for now, but I want to start looking for one this week, but if I that it’s mean to being a necro, I don’t know what to do. I really want to play my reaper on raids, fractals, etc… and not be discriminated for that.
I really have to play a war/guard/ele/mesmer to become more ‘okeish’ for the meta or what?…
I want to belive that this was something accidentally and no represent the community itself, but I don’t know. I did a research on that forums and reddit, and it seems that Necros are most hated class for the community.
Quite sad with the community and all. Sorry for my bad english btw

Both are quite different.
Tbh Guardian have more versatility, since Rev it’s more “limited” play style. Like sword-ish mesmer…
You will be playing herald/shiro, while putting ‘Impossible Odds’ on, then ‘Unreleting Assault’ to hit/avoid dmg and then there’s the… autoattack. Herald will bring you awesome survivability.
I really think the dmg on Rev it’s far better, in PVE side at least. As far as PVP side, well… rev have really a bad time with conditions and stability, and that’s your primary weakness.
I don’t know, I love both, but I really love the DH playstyle and the Guard Burn build, while rev it’s fast and kill thinks pretty well, but it’s a one-trick horse, if you like it, then go with that.
