hard to when you dont answer to requests

Playing my rev just doesn’t feel right. 1v1 i do okay in the arenas, but in sPvP I either deal good damage and die all the time, or survive but whip people with a feather. I can’t find a happy medium.

I rerolled from a warrior main who had that happy medium. I went back to playing it tonight and actually enjoyed playing it more than rev…

In the same boat as OP. Uninstalled the game during the dragon fest. Things were boring and everything started to revolve around the item shop – is this still true? Thinking of coming back, but afraid of the re-install time… lol

still looks like some kitten attempt… seems pathetic to me

alright, long story short looks like i need to replace my hard drive.

after a more thorough chkdsk (i didn’t know i hadn’t run the right one the first time) it detected bad sectors, including in GW2.dat.

after the fixes, i tried to run gw2, and got this error:

ran repair, and the game struggles to load but ultimately does. either way, time for a new hard drive. the one i have now is about 6 years old anyway.

i can still backup the GW2.dat file so I don’t have to re-download, correct? from my understanding the actual file hasn’t become corrupted as a result of anything (despite the troubles loading). rather, it’s just a section in the drive the file is being written to that’s no longer working, causing the errors, something a new hard drive would fix.

my guess is that I have to download the entire .dat all over again.

if so, i cannot fathom one corrupt file making someone download an entire 16g. im on a slow internet and this will literally take all week. what if this happens again. only prevention i see is deleting gw2 for good.

i’ve run memtest+, hardware scans, checkdisk, virus scans, other system command scans, everything is okay. reinstalled drivers, yet gw2 fails to play.

I tried the -repair command but that would bug out. Someone suggested doing a system restore, but that would fail at the gw2.dat file and the restore would not take place.
I had 14g worth of .dat already backed up somewhere, so I re-downloaded the remaining few gigs which took forever. The game loaded up and I thought things were fine.
Now the screen goes black on startup and gw2.exe stops responding.

Any time one of my characters zone into Kessex Hills my GW2 client stops responding. Unfortunately my main char is stuck at the Kessex Hills loading screen, and I cannot log into that character anymore as a result. I play on Sea of Sorrows, if that matters.

I completely agree with the OP. I replied to a thread about this a few days ago and that post was deleted.

The trailers for the warrior charrs looked awesome and helped me decided to buy the game. yet when I log into the game now, all I see pink quiggan backpacks, and 8 bit games. i want this game getting grittier, not getting rainbows and unicorns.

For several days whenever I clicked “Play” after logging in, the screen would turn black, and no character select screen would display. Initially, the screen flickered black and I couldn’t alt/tab, etc. I could enter the game about 50% of the time. Otherwise, I had to hard restart. Occasionally I would get the blue screen crash restart.

This progressed to just becoming a black screen with a mouse cursor, but I could alt/tab. However, a lot of programs wouldn’t function properly. I could log in 0% of the time.

From other posts, I thought about BIOS updates, underclocking, forcing GW2 to only run 2 cores, etc. Everything worked fine before, only after updating my nvidia driver did everything start happening.

I tried the following and it seems to have fixed my problem:

1 – Open NVIDIA control panel
2 – Go to “Manage 3D Settings”
3 – Under “Global Settings” (not program settings), set “Anti-aliasing – Gamma correction” to OFF.
4 – Try playing.

Worked for me, was happy I could finally log back in after a couple days, hopefully it will help at least a few others.

I noticed after the update my NVIDIA control panel was also displaying improperly, this fixed that too.

I’m getting this error after updating my NVIDIA driver.
