I am surprised this post did not get any love. I am experiencing exact same issues and it is 10 months down the line. Some of these bugs are really small but affects 3d gameplay drastically. The Symbols over character issue is one of them.
The game is gorgeous in 3d. I wish ArenaNet ironed out these few little issues to make it a finished 3d experience.
