and you have a few gold in profit as well as a ton of karma and xp. by the 7th day you will be making more of a profit from this than hackers make hacking accounts.
ps. “working as intended” lolz
a similar and I think better long term solution is to open another map, not more servers.
im not saying more servers are never necessary, but if the past has taught us one thing it’s that when player bases decline, even a little, servers become ghost towns, and while people wan’t smaller queues, no one wants to play on a ghost town.
believe it or not, Arena net wants to keep the focus on things that matter in WvW.
currently, the reward for escorting and defending yaks is what they give you…. supply!!!!
and the reward for killing yaks,,,,,starving them of supply!
if you feel like you need rewards back just to help your team win, then you dont need to be in WvW because you are probably one of those worthless dolyak farmers that took WvW spots, caused huge problems in the rankings because of queues being taken by PvE farmers.
Arena net took away the reward because it was easily the biggest problem at the time, people would gather in groups of 40 or so just to farm dolyak exp in safe areas, ignoring the actual game around them. it was affecting the gameplay of others, so it was changed.
and i love it how it is, no reward except the WvW reward of supply or lack of supply. the way it should be
ok then … please let us know why there are still rewards for killing harpies and big grubs.
the reward was fine. if it was just too much reward they would have reduced it. it was botters. scripted guys following the yaks. funny thing is they were still doing it days afterwards.
I cant belive FS and Deso (both high population servers) dont have enough population at night. I think its just they dont organize themselves at those times, that is a bad on their side.
Instead of whining in the forums they should try and organize their night players.
Giving preference to prime time is so unfair and, sorry to say, stupid it shouldent even be adressed but hey seems we are at this level. 2 simple reasons:
1) no one in a war asked Julius Cesar, Napoleon or Ghengis Khan not to atack at night because it was “unfair”, its just laughable and stupid.
2) What about all those people that work during your precious primetime? they dont have the right to play? they dont count as much as your school/office timetables?
Think of all the waiters, shop atendants, service workers in general that work in your primetime and come home at 23:00 and expect to play all night their game because they dont enter work untill 15:00. We punish them? they count less? dont be ridiculous.
This people exist in your servers. Get them organized and stop crying.
A real army doesn’t really sleep. They are ready to go at a moments notice. The wonderful world of armed forces is that way —-—>
I solute all who come from and go down that path, but that path is not for me.
This is a game and as such it would benefit from a system that worked with it’s players instead of against them. Which is unfortunate, but necessary. I happen to agree that night capping is an issue, but I hate that raiding is not what it used to be. For example.
Night capping lessens the value and experience for too many people to be ignored. They definitely need to do something that makes sure that the game is well represented for players that play the game “late at night”, or “in the wee hours of the morning”. I don’t know what that is exactly, but they are smart. They can figure something out.
And I am on Dragonbrand, and I play in the wee hours of the morning, but the match was over days ago. It’s just boring at this point. Lucrative, but boring. Wide awake, but half asleep auto attacking gates … not because I don’t know the 20-30 better things there are to do in a seige besides auto attack a door, but because there is little to no reason to do any of them.
And when they actually dare have the audacity to show up and try and take a tower … they get the door to 20% (mostly because it takes us 10 minutes to stop farming lizards, and grubs) … and are then met with a 60 man faceroll zerg that kills them all before they can even read the name of the server that is attacking them.
The players with low late night populations are probably having more fun than us to be honest, we are just getting too rich to care.

Post your scores
Dragonbrand : 273k
Maguuma : 95k
Tarnished Coast : 91k
In other words, if you play on an NA server and can only play withing the 4pm – 12am time frame .. your efforts will matter very little towards the outcome of the match.
Azure Prower, I don’t know if you’re trolling now or you’re just displaying an utterly incredible level of ignorance here…
A server has a peak time, it’s got nothing to do with where you live or where the person lives on the opposite side of the world. It’s the server time. The vast majority of that servers playerbase will reside within timezones very close to this so that server peak time is very applicable to them.
This means that 100% pop caps in each borderland for each server will occur come that server’s peak time. Due to this, very little is achieved during peak hours in WvW, a keep or two changes back and forth, a few supply camps here and there.
Now comes the night and early morning, that vast majority that makes up the servers playerbase are now tucked up in bed… the few are left to WvW. Whether that be someone in server’s timezone or there abouts pulling an all nighter or someone on the opposite side of the globe logging on because they just got home from work is immaterial.
However you’re now in a situation where population matters greatly and that most likely one server of the three will be fielding a much greater population than the others. Now an awful lot is achieved very quickly. No longer just a keep or two changing hands, entire borderlands start getting capped and locked down.
So in your original scenario where ‘server b’ logs on to say ‘omg lets get it all back’. This is where it breaks down entirely. Here is why. When that one server full capped during the night and held all of the borderlands for hours, they amassed an almighty lead in points. When ‘server b’ (see: the peak time users) login and the pop caps return to full, they’re now back in the position where very little can be achieved and that epic point lead simply can not be closed.
There is no cycle, there is merely WvW being a representation of whom has the largest night time force, as that is what has the most impact on the outcome. Those who play at the busiest times in the peak hours are merely fighting for meaningless scraps.
can we just get this reply stickied as the first reply to any post like this?
as someone who has pretty much already won for the week, but still has fun on peak hours, it horrifies me to think of what life is going to be like next tuesday when our good night crew meats up with a top 5 server.
Our good night crew puts up about 30k a night. which is a low number, but is what still pretty much guarantees us a victory this week.
/signed
and Dragonbrand is probably going to get stomped next week. We have some coordination, but a good 24/7 server will probably beat us up pretty good.
fix extreme night capping situations, leave 1 week matches.
in before "servers with lots of “no-lifers” should be forced to play other servers with a lot of “no-lifers” …
The only solution I see is to cap player bases at night within 10% of the lowest population. Then the late nighters can move around like a lot of other players have been to find a good queue / competitive environment for their play time.
This whole part of the system could use a bit of an overhaul.
You can keep badges if you want, or replace them, but either add or change to a karma-based WvW system where defending keeps gives you “honor” for lack of a better word. Then you can bring back Yak rewards and just strip out the karma and coin and give “honor”
Then add another set of armor for “honor” .. it can take a long time to achieve, but it should be consistent. Or just as I said, keep badges and allow us to buy badges with honor.
And the commander badge as said should cost badges, just take the money part out of it honestly. Or honor, or honor and badges.

they dont even have to remove it, they just have to make it insignificant using a multiplier. it’s probably fine as is in cases where theres 10 ppl attacking 4 ppl at a gate. arrow carts become completely worthless when shooting at a mob for 50+ players because of retaliation.
for example, it’s fine to have a mechanic where the siege weapon takes slightly more damage because of a player spec .. it just needs to be capped, or really well coded to make sure the siege engine is still 95% effective no matter how many players it is attacking.
as for the OT :
arrow carts on a wall are great against seiges that arent coordinated.
defending a seige against a coordinated attack requires different tactics.
i have no idea what these tactics are btw. ballistas behind the door is a good start. like an NFL defense. Bend, don’t break. Then find other strategic locations for catapults.
if you are actively defending keeps, as in not just responding, but people are actually there before the attackers .. the cannons are deadly. if theres 2 ppl there when 50 ppl arrive, your cannons will be useless. same with mortars, basically. and well placed ballistas and catapults.
Im not sure if you are saying this from a purely reactionary standpoint, but that really is key. to hold a keep against a good server you need to be there before they are.

same on dragonbrand. top middle map garrison .. and we have their orb. kitten’s been invulnerable for days.
We’ve had 1 lead change so far. One server jumped out to an early lead, and we managed to climb to second yesterday and take the lead today.
cool, thats good to hear!
sofar dragonbrand is holding steady, and lead increasing!
How many lead changes were there in the first instance of WvW matches?
Obviously … it’s not over yet, so for now … have you seen a lead change in your match?
If not, caution a guess as to how many lead changes there will be at the end of week 1.
Dragonbrand is hit or miss. There are a couple of smart, and fairly organized guilds so there are times where we just dominate, certain lakes specifically … and then there are times when it’s just stupid zergs attacking 4 gates at one keep and two other towers all at the same time.
It doesn’t take much to be in a position where you can hold your own. Win some, lose some, but finish with a realistic point spread. Just get organized. The commander icon works wonders when used properly (and I have no idea how to use it properly, but I know how to follow it when it isn’t over an idiot).
Dragonbrand is doing well in our matchup sofar, but the other teams are fairly competitive. It’s a fun environment for the most part. Maybe thats cuz im winning, but I honestly feel that even if I was on the losing server atm .. I would be able to have some fun, especially if someone is organizing.
just another case where the guilds that were there .. sucked. I left after 3 or 4 days of Defiance[RUN] did this, and Defiance[RUN] did that ..
WvW is about servers guys, not about your precious little guild. Leaders don’t boast.
and funny thing … Defiance .. [RAN] .. to Maguuma so I get to kill [GOON] and [RUN] at the same time.
my suggestions .. and they arent perfect by any means .. are to :
1. Make commander chat a different color.
The main problem is people don’t listen (read).
The main reason I think this is true, is because chat is littered with people barking orders. Who’s gonna read orders from 5 ppl? And what the hell are you supposed to do with 5 different orders?
2. Make a voteable, or random with the option to pass it commander when there is no commander in the lake.
Turns out djoeb, there’s actually been a group who’s been trying to take control and act as commanders in TC. The AWC, or Alliance War Council. It’s an alliance of guilds who intend to fight in WvW and prove that TC isn’t a pushover just because it’s an RP Server. It’ll be a hard-fought war, but we’ll make them fight for it.
good luck with that! (not sarcasm) i like you TC guys, whenever we need to go somewhere, you guys give us a lift ..
yea, i just quoted reefer sutherland .. but hey, the world’s ending soon, so hopefully no one in the afterlife will remember
srsly tho, good luck with your guild alliances, thats what this game should be about.
LOL then you should really advise people not to talk about it since server transfers are free and we have been camping Magumma and Dragonbrand all day compiling video and chat, cause you know it didnt happen………right.
I may be dim and all, but that doesn’t make sense to me. You were compiling video of you camping us to prove we had an alliance .. and that has what to do with server transfers?
Correction it was happening on one shard maguuma borderlands and yes we will get the screens and video up shortly so the guilds can be identified. God i Love this game Espionage, warfare, sexy women……..it just gets better every day.
if we were smart enough to enter into an alliance with them .. we’d have been smart enough not to take their orb too.
EDIT : and if there is one thing ive learned in life, it’s don’t ally with Goon Squad.
No one said you were smart……..
but mamma said, my mamma, but, but my mamma says that alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush.
nice dodge tho.

There was no alliance between Maguuma and DB .. we were even camping their spawn for 20 mins or so, right before we turned our attention on your orb
. Sorry to dissapoint you. The DB guilds in TC that night has a plan, and it worked. It’s been typical zerg chaos for the most part, since.
happend 30 mins ago on DB :
“EH North Gate : 50%”
“EH North Gate : 40%”
“EH North Gate : 30%”
“EH North Gate : 20%”
“BUILD MY RAM AT EH SOUTH”
its the facebook culture. everyones talking, no one is actually reading.
yea, isn’t blowing GOON faces off with a cannon fun?
that being said .. there was an amazing unity on friday night on DB .. its been typical pug zerg stupidity ever since .. amazing we are still in the lead.
In a bugged Garrison no less …
Beating on a wall.
!= Contested.
No People, No Contested Please.
while i feel for you guys, it shouldnt be 560 > 70 > 65 on a Sat afternoon. Nothing anet can do about that .. that is on the servers to be better at what they are doing as I imagine you all have queues .. unless everyone has given up already?
when its 560 > 70 > 65 from 2 am to 11 am on a Tuesday .. that is where this system is flawed as one server that has 100 more unemployed than others is able to run rampant.
with all servers having queue times thing should be much more competitive.
that actually sounds like a decent idea. definitely shouldnt be supplies there all the time, but when your team has maybe only your spawn tower for example, having supplies available until you advance past that seems like it would be a good idea.
wow .. sounds pretty rough. and here im worried about my server being zerged when most of us are asleep .. if I thought this was happening, id be playing a different game.
yea the AI, or pathing, or both is just miserable in this respect. I end up pulling 6 mobs 1/2 the time because he runs 5 or 6 pet lengths in front of me when I stop. Someone though it would look cute if it took a second for your pet to realize you stopped … which it does, but it makes running around miserable. also any well trained pet will not do this.
error message 42:0:9001:3927
It goes both ways – if the Aussies are awake when the rest of the world is unavailable, they’re asleep when you are out in force. Emphasises the ability of smaller groups of players to hold keeps as long as possible during their world’s down-time I guess – which makes those keep upgrades even more important.
It really doesnt work both ways from what I have seen. The 2 servers I have been on are relatively even during regular times, but on off peak times there is a huge disparity where one server with a lot of late night players just dominate everything. literally 90% of the map is 1 color at night, and somewhat more even during the day.
so Sea of Sorrows doesn’t have many Aussie WvW players.
I guess it over simplifies a bit as well. Sure a server that just doesnt have many good wvw guilds aren’t going to see enough of a swing during the night, but that is why they are ranking us to play against comparable servers.
But it still comes down to who can control wvw with numbers during the 12 or so hours where most americans are sleeping, working, etc. Because, you can have 3 servers, that all run near 250 during “normal” times .. but invariably, on off-peak times it will be 700+ for one server, and .. well you get the idea.
As someone who works, and sleeps .. whats the point in wvw if I am fairly certain that anything I spend to build up a fort will be wiped out with little to no resistance?
Solutions? Im not sure there is a perfect solution, but one solution is there should be a queue that takes effect for a server, if the server already has 10 more players than the lowest pop server in wvw. Control the numbers.
Is this how it’s always going to be? At this point I won’t spend another dime on upgrading keeps, after standing there with a couple of friends late at night watching a zerg of late nighters take down a fully upgraded keep because there were maybe 5 ppl on from my server.
What’s the point of WvW if it’s pretty much decided before it even starts?
i stopped upgrading things when i realized 40 aussies > upgrades.
