squared regions

Just a quick suggestion that I want to throw in for future changes to the environment: please, for the love of immersion, make the regions…… natural! separate them through other things….say a ravine or something.

I find it terribly annoying to know that whenever there’s a region boundary, it’s a either a massive wall, ad mountain range or a sea. I also know that invariably, the regions are completely square. It just bugs the hell out of me to see such unnatural boundaries (square mountain ranges all over the place?!)…

In addition, I’d like some more freedom. I was walking in the mountains, and I figured I might as well try and get to the top of a peak to see the view. Can’t do it – couldn’t get farther than say 20 meters up. Please give me more space?

Hello!
I’d love to have a trader and crafting facilities in more towns, and perhaps an inn or so. I suppose you could open up a few houses to make the craft-stations in… for example, wizard’s fief is such a beautiful town, and it is absolutely useless right now. Please arenanet, let me feel part of the game by giving me some sort of home to go back to, like a functional Wizard’s Fief…

I agree, I’d really like to have the idea that I am actually travelling. But to be fair, this does not only concern the boat rides. Having portals to large cities is perfectly reasonable for me, but I really hate the possibility of porting all over the world. I’d much prefer the system WoW uses with gryphons or something of the likes…. for example that airship in Fort Trinity, that thing looks brilliant and all it does is hang around there. It could fly via various stops to the gates of Arah, bombing the crap out of kitten on the way for example…..

Hehehe. Yeah, no I get your point, but it would just be nice to have some obvious influences… For example, that port in kessex hills is very german-looking.

Hello!

I was just looking at the map, and being Dutch and never having seen anything inspired by the Dutch landscape, I figured I’d throw that out here with some pictures and some explanations.

First of all, I suppose Janthir Bay would be a fairly decent region, on the edge of the woodland cascades. the Idea is that the defining features would be windmills, a harbour with large (East-Indies Company type) ships, and polders as well as canals. I’ll just leave a few pictures here, to show what I mean. I just feel it’s a shame that this beautiful landscape we have is often overlooked, and I’m sure the massive Dutch population this game seems to have would like it, too.

Again, not saying that this has to be copied, but taking some inspiration from it would be epic.

and if you’re doing canals anyway, you might as well add this: http://www.vaartips.nl/images/trekschuit.jpg
which is a horse-drawn boat. I wouldn’t mind chilling out on those for a bit in game…put some nobles on there and a skillpoint, and woop!
