Future of Guild Wars- What I expect

While it would be nice to know what they are doing in the future, it is a slippery slope so to speak. If they announce something, then have problems and cant do it, the community will be upset. Take WoW for example, they mentioned they wanted to do a dance studio years ago. For what ever reason, they couldn’t/haven’t done it yet. The community has been complaining ever since.

To me, saying nothing is better than being vague or starting rumors.

Why did you guys buy GW2?

I bought Guild Wars 2 because WoW Cataclysm and SWTOR left such a sour taste in my mouth. I had gone 7 months without playing any mmo’s because I was so disappointed in those. Enter GW2. I started seeing beta videos, reading about it’s game play, style etc and thought, this game is for me. It looked so different and it didn’t have a sub, so I figured why not. I pre-ordered a few days before it went live.

To make the story shorter, I now wonder if this is the game for me. I take my time, explore every corner of the map and do as much as possible, yet I am bored. I am no where near max level so there is so much more to do, I just don’t want to do it right now. I played for a little while last week and the game felt dead. I finished up a quest I was working on and there was nobody around, I thought that was a bit odd. I went into the city and it was near empty. There were a handful of players around and there was nothing going on in chat for the hour or so that I was on.

Maybe I was in the wrong place, maybe I was on at the wrong time, but this was the first MMO I had played that didn’t feel like an MMO. As poor as SWTOR was, at least there were people around. I logged out and haven’t logged back in. I just lost the desire to play right now. Maybe that will return soon, time will tell. This isn’t a bad game by any means, it just doesn’t feel like an MMO to me.

If this was your first MMO, what would you think?

If this were my first MMO, then I would have to say that I enjoyed. The story, classes, races would all be overwhelming and I wouldn’t even know where to start. I wouldn’t have been spoiled by other MMO’s and wouldn’t know that there is better out there.

That being said, I think it’s a good game for a new MMO player to start with. They can learn basics, get a feel for the atmosphere of MMO’s. If they enjoy this, then they can check out other MMO’s

Has Guild Wars 2 been worth your $60.00?

No, not at this time it hasn’t. I personally find it very boring and really don’t care for it. I wont go into all the details but it doesn’t fell like an MMO to me. It feels more like an action/adventure game. At least there is no sub so I might be able to come back to it in a few months and have my impression changed. I know I am in the minority here but it’s my opinion.
