I have been playing a little while now, I am not new to MMO’s but as I think everyone can agree GW2 is a little different.

I have 2 80’s I enjoy but don’t know enough about the game, and I am not used to the GW2 dictionary.

I have done a few (what I consider world dungeons) Jorg in the peaks and such.

How do we know when they are supposed to appear? Are those considered dungeon type things. Believe me I know how stupid I sound, but Im tired of hitting 80 and then moving on to another character to level.

Anyone that can shed some light on my issue will bad kitten !!

I have finally tried every single build i could find while leveling my necro, BUT I am getting to that oh so glorious point of hitting 80.

Hybrid build is the way to go IMO!

Any advice or thoughts I am more than willing to accept.

I run axe/focus for start off, I just decided to use staff on other even though I can’t stand it.

I have noticed wicked damage along with some survivability. Any suggestions.

Sorry I know! THis is my second toon my first was an engie but i like Necro better.

I just tested it out, and I must say this is very nice, Everything seems to make more sense now, I don’t feel like im playing street fighter and mashing all the buttons.

Thanks I will try a lot of this stuff out, Im 40 now, but plan on being 55 by the end of the weekend, the wells seemed so beast though even without power. Suffering alone can take out 4 mobs with no other damage dealt

I despise the staff because the marks are so small. I use a scepter/D on main and switch to Axe/focus for 1v1.

With the wells you can down several mobs down, I look for larger groups when there up and can down every one of them.

Wells are awesome and i just only switched to Conditionmancer at 40 and now there jsut OP awesomeness.

Been playing my necro for about a week, I use a Hybrid, condition/power build and i love it.

Lots of good points here about it’s flaws, but freakin A, it’s fun. These people complaining about it must like it if there willing to sacrifice there time to trash on it.

I played an engi; very versatile but Necro is easy to pick up if you take some time to learn the character as opose to running to 80 and expect greatness.

Every prof could use a tweak here and there, but still enjoy my necro. Woot Woot

Wait a minute, you can change a build to an underwater build? Biggest noob question every but how do u do that, i am levevling my necro now, but fight underwater like I normally do. Never changed anythign except for weapon.

Im not asking to dumb it down, by no means I think each class should have to be mastered but on different levels. I play about 2 hours a day, same schedule and life as you without being a RL engineer, but I think a few things could be tweaked without dumbing the character down.

Fix the freakin turrets have those appeal to other players, if you don’t use em then it won’t affect you. I seriously doubt they will dumb it down to other profs, but change can be good. I agree on that aspect, but a tweak here and there makes sense.

Im still a novice, but expert in sitting at work bored reading engi builds. I have read a lot about P/P condition and use it now.

THe grenade build is a rather massive AOE damge boom boom maker. I would run that route that way guard can pull and you drop massive bombs on incoming kittens.

Well I can’t be squishy now, Ima try to find a mix of em both, it may sound dumb but atm I don’t do anything but run around and level toons and make money.

I love the class as well, but I wouldn’t give a kitten if they changed it or not, reguardless they are going to follow the larger crowd of people. That’s life unfortunately I don’t normally join threads to diss people but there are a lot more things to consider. I enjoy the challenge of an engi, but changes will happen as they always do for the good and for the bad.

This game has to appeal to a lot more than one person.

Not everyone has the time to spend countless hours, and spend 500 games to get to your level, some just want to enjoy the game.

Thanks Blutstein I will give it a shot, I have not tried that one yet, but it sounds fun. Thanks maybe when I get a new computer I can focus on dungeons but as of right now events lag whoop my tail.

I don’t really do dungeons, but I do enjoy running around the map. I use a P/P condition build right now with elixirs.

I am more curious on the best build thats enjoyable still kicks kittens, but doesn’t have to focus on what my max dmg for a dungeon.

Any advice this is my first toon so I am far from pro still.

I use Carrion gear mostly with crit.

I rolled an engineer first, I love it. Can do so many things, I am a fresh 80 and luckily carrion was CHEAP!!!!

I still suck at him from being new but reguardless he is still fun for not being good at a new MMO for me.

I have tried all the kits and all the little tricks. The best setup by far is this:
Rifle is your primary weapon learn it love it. Pistol sucks for pve and leveling. It’s a great weapon in pvp however.
Nade kit is your secondary the other kits are just bad in pve learn to kite with nades as they will be your primary weapon of choice in dungeons & events where being in melee range is a very stupid idea.
Elixir H, B, C, and supply crate is your utility (because sadly all the other ultimate’s are crap).
Go explosives for Incendiary Powder, Explosive Powder and finally Grenadier.
Go Alchemy for Fast-Acting Elixirs, Potent Elixirs and finally HGH.
Go Tools for Speedy Kits.
I recommend you take Incendiary Powder then Speedy kits and work your way up the trees as you level.

Buy Strong Gear till you can buy Berserker’s Gear around level 50. Don’t stress your about your hp you will have enough and Elixir c will take care of dots stacking against you.

All that talk about engi being versatile is rubbish there are a couple of optimal setups for pve and this is one of them.

Rifle is hard to love, but the p/p condition damage is the best for leveling actually, because the burns and conditions work for higher levels i have leveled this way since the beginning and can take on events with 5-6 mobs with ease, I tried the rifle and it’s perfect 1v1 on pve but takes too long to level.

I guess that was a dumb question since i am almost 80 nvm. THanks guys

Fire turret doesn’t seem like much, which are the least important elixirs to drop for turrets.

Yea i figured as much at 80 in dungeons, they just cream in leveling. Well good to know thanks, I will keep em dropped so I can learn to not have to rely on them for survival anymore. Thanks.

I am actually very new to the game, my first character is an engi and im only at 74, I have followed this thread for a couple days now, great responses and ideas, since I absolutely love using P/P.

I wouldn’t mind a few suggestions though, I was using the full firearm and alchemy that you guys sugegsted and it’s very nice but i can’t help but think turrets do a lot of damage.

Maybe im still new to using elixirs but I can take on 5-6 mobs at one time with turrets and still end up with top health while elixirs i can only handle 3 at my same level. It’s probably just the noob in me from being new I haven’t played MMO’s sicne Wrath from WOW and i got really bored.

Im just checking all the functionality of the engi and i absolutely despise using elixir gun, kits ect. I like the PISTOLS!!!!

I just bought a new laptop with WIndows 8 32-bit (my mistake) I have an AMD a6 2.7ghz proc, and a radeon 7520g hd GPU. I have a 4gb RAM drive but only run about 16 fps at best.

I have looked into many options like adding a pair of 2 4gb RAM sticks, and i have turned down all my settings . I don’t have any other games and I use an external for downloading music and movies.

I was told though I would need Win8 64-bit before I could actually add more RAM, any suggestions or advice.

I have been playing an engie frequently, and I absolutely love it, I can pull 4 or 5 mobs and destroy them all very efficiently.

I use double pistols and flame, turret, healing turret, and rifle….Those you should be able to use at ur level.

Im leveling in a place 3 levels higher right now and have no problem. Make sure you spec correctly to ensure you can take a whoopin every now and then, your turrets will do a little bit of tanking themselves. Hope you find this helpful and good luck.

I just bought a laptop with a radeon 7520g hd GPU and a AMD a6 3-core processor. It came with Win8, but I am lagging like crazy.

I use an external hard drive to download anything, and my internet speeds are over 18mbps.

I turned all my graphics settings to none or low.

Still Lagging. I was considering buying an external GPU to go through my VGA cable, any suggestions. Oh yea and my Harddrive is a 4gb.
