I roll as a rifle main and 2 skill kill the baddies with a volley + 10-15k kill shot. But really, you should run something with more mobility in your other set. Rifle/Bow/GS even, you can either stay at range or close the gap.

You seem to want to try and take the benefits of a GS and a utility build and mash them up…but they don’t go together that well.

If you want to do both, look into the sonic boon build on here, although it’s made for PvE you can tweak it a bit for WvW. Otherwise, go full dmg or go as a utility roamer with healing/toughness and an axe/mace combo or you’ll never really seem to excel at either.

Look at it this way, we already have a high health pool. I prefer toughness > vit anyday. Adding to your health without giving you a way to mitigate the dmg done is an exercise in futility.

Go Soldier if you can afford it. Think about an axe/shield for your second set. You can swap, spam vuln, shield stance/heal and swap back.

If you’re rifling, you need to be running it with piercing shots or you’re just gimping yourself. Then you basically just stack adrenaline, volley through a pack of mobs and killshot them all down.

Rifle really shines when you increase your crit %/dmg and have piercing shots. You can kill shot a few mobs and take them all out almost instantly. The rest you can 1-2 shot down. For leveling purposes, go GS + Rifle. It’s generic and boring but it’s hard to beat.

At 80 I run a 10/30/0/0/30 build for WvW and some dungeons when I’m bored. I use an axe/mace and/or axe/warhorn. It’s a pretty generic Rifle main build, killshot through packs of anything you want and swap to WH and run away. If you know you’re going to be a target keep the mace on stun and run.

Been running Rifle + Axe/Mace and Axe/WH forever. If you’re rolling full facerolling gear you want the movement bonus of the WH to get away/to the fight over the limited help a shield gives you. That and like was previously stated, the mace stun is clutch if you screw something up somehow.

Depends what you want to run gear-wise. Shouts are better with Soldier runes because you never worry about conditions anymore. Add healing gear and they can heal for around 2.2k a pop.

The difference is really that you need healing gear to shout whereas you can get by with something else stats-wise with a banner set up. The issue with banners is moving them or being stuck with an off CD, sometimes people are hardheaded and won’t bring a banner even after you ask.

Bottom line: they are both good in different ways. If you can afford it, you really cant beat the condition removal spam though.
