Sorry mate but I stopped after the first 3 minutes of video cos for me it’s pointless to show some crap hotjoin action.
If the video will show some tPvP action later, I’ll give it another look, otherwise it doesn’t show any skill. In the first 3 minutes of the video your opponent reaction was so slow that I could play with only my left hand and win.
Overall an enjoyable video of a bad mode against bads

I think he is showing the damage potential of the build at the beginning. Later you will find some more complex fights, often outnumbered.

- Drop the Bow if you can and use P/P for players running away from you. If you have the Damage, it’ll finish them off every time.

I think that he is using the short bow to run away not to chase. With so many teleports chasing is never a problem. At least in my limited experience.

Btw, he is using Withdraw as healing skill.

A lot of useful information. Thank you all! I’ll try to test it during the weekend and get back to you with results. One more question when you are outnumbered do you use the SP set at all or just use the short bow? How are you guys escaping from bad situations? For example when you are in a 1v1 and suddenly two more enemies jump on you. With a stealth build you usually have a decent chance to hide and escape.

So answering to your qustion is mostly situative, because a lot of factors should be included.

I guess I am really bad at using the AA chain. Against warriors and guardians, they do much more damage to me than I to them if I fight them head to head with AA. Against ranged classes I just cant keep up with them, so I am never able to complete my AA chain. Thus the damage is mediocre.

After reading what you wrote it seems that you fight mostly with AA. If so then why using SP and not SD?

But pw should not be spammed, that is the trick of the build, land some melee attacks, w8 for heal, then steal+pw and finish.

Which heal do you use? Are you playing in sPvP or WWW? Are you able to land the 3th auto attack on regular basis?

Does the retaliation damage go through?

Yes. You get at least 2k damage.

Bah, I hope this is not intentional. If you hit multiple targets with retaliation (mesmer clones) then you’ll kill yourself while ‘evading’…

While not fix this stupid mechanic, s/p, p/x will always be useless.

I thought that you are not damaged during the evasion phase of pistol whip. Does the retaliation damage go through?

Has anyone tried a heavy trickery build together with S/P. In theory you should be able to nearly stun lock your opponent. At least if you count the dazes as stun…

Is it a good idea to use Sigil of Paralyzation and Runes of the Mesmer with such build?

With what audience?
Who, besides Anet themselves would sponsor a crowdless e-sport?

Balance is one thing, but an e-sport requires spectators.
First of all this game hardly has any viewers on the streams, and worse than that you can’t make out what they are doing anyhow as an outsider…

Not saying this will never happen, but at the moment there simply is no audience for any serious sponsor to make advertising money on.

Even if they balance it all in a single patch, and even if they introduce serious ladders, custom servers and all that. Than they still need that audience to show up.

Just like the actual balance, it seems to be a slow progress to be made.
And personally I’m not sure if the game will make it in time…

Sad but true. First they should make the game fun and then make it an e-sport.

I feel that the main problems are these:

1) PvP feels repetitive and as consequence boring. There are many reasons for that but for me the main is how combat is designed. In general you dodge and do damage. CC and healing skills (except the self heal) are having little impact and don’t feel rewarding to use. So the combat focus is in dodging and spaming your dps skills. If you manage to land your damage and dodge his you win, else you loose. And every encounter feels the same.

What also doesn’t help is how hard are the most skill animation to read. So most of the cases I don’t know what is going on. I know that something is happening so I dodge to avoid it but don’t exactly know what. I’ll admit that with more experience it is getting better but still it is just not fun. Not being able to understand exactly what is going on facilitates this “repetitive feel”.

As everyone else say most of the battle grounds doesn’t feel different. I agree that we urgently need new pvp mode. Even if it is not balanced. At this point the balance is not the biggest problem. Boredom kills the pvp!

2) PvP feels zergy. I don’t know why you guys tought that 8v8 is a good idea. Since we can play 5v5 it is much better. However on my server most 5v5 games are empty. I guess that this is because they are so down in the map listing. Please promote them better.

3) No hope on horizon. I don’t want to be dramatic here. What I mean is that I don’t believe that announced changes will help. Something more I think that the problems are very deep into the game design so it is probably nearly impossible to do them at this stage…

I hope you come up with some great ideas, we need them

For me the PvP is also getting boring very fast. It feels way to much like a DOTA game. The interaction/team work between classes feels too limited (maybe a side effect of removing the trinity).

It feels that damage overshadows utility/control by way too much in team fights. For me this leads to PvP becoming too ‘zergy’ for my taste…
