no no no. macros are already incredibly obnoxious as is. it’s almost impossible to go to a city without someone spamming those godawful scripts

[Suggestion] Instruments Play MIDI Files

also, atleast on the EU server, it is pretty seldom that I see someone play an instrument. It’s not like it is overused, since it is still a gemstore item, you’ve got to pay for with real money.

i don’t know which cities you go to but practically every time i’m in DR, LA or Rata Sum theres some dumb afker polluting the place with those kittenty kitten scripts

or you could just listen to those midi files outside the game. there are already way too many people using automated songs in the game. adding this to the game would even more of an insult to people who are actually good at playing

So we’re back to the part where you just need your ego stroked.

uhuh yeah thanks, and youre obviously just using macros to get attention at zero cost. good job. keep being an unskilled goon. see you around

and we’re back to the needless irl comparisons. they’re still not applicable or relevant

it bothers me because i spent time and effort getting good at the instruments. i see it as any other part of the game – and just like any other part of the game, when people cheat to cut corners, it cheapens the whole thing.
and just like any other area of the game, youre not just magically imbued with the necessary skill, it’s something you build over time. that doesnt justify laziness

Some of us just really enjoy music, and perhaps we don’t have the skill to play it by hand.

in that case you have virtually limitless platforms to listen to your favorite music. what’s the point?

yep, really, because they’re kitten.

Let us know when and where you’re playing, and we macro users can come stroke your ego a bit.

alright. and in the meantime, why dont you go down to target and pick up a beginner keyboard? they have demo songs built-in and you can pretend to play those all day. anything to keep you from trashposting

it keeps coming back to the completely misguided idea that people can only play irregular zelda and game of thrones songs, but it’s just not true. there are lots of people that are genuinely good at playing and there are entire guilds dedicated to playing band arrangements of songs

uh no?? obviously i meant because it would clearly set macro users apart from actual players, since theres nothing right now that sets them apart other than ridiculous octave switches

i would mind a lot less if there was some sort of visual cue that showed when people were using macros. like the autoplay icon you get with the drum

this is open world game, you must learn to handle other ppl around,
find a peaceful place to play on your own if city noise interrupts you;

macros is only more options, which is good; noone is personaly forced to use macros but dont deny more options to other players

again this isn’t about the noise, it’s about the effects of it.

should people be free to have the option to use other hacks too? why should cheating be conidered an option?

Please end this macro instruments.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eugenics.2561

eugenics.2561

that doesn’t apply here because the op isn’t about the noise. it’s about people using scripts to automate/fake something that some people put a bunch of effort into.

and another thing that makes those macros so insanely egregious, anyone who’s played the instruments properly knows that there are only so many notes that can be played at the same time in one instance. if youre trying to play something as a group and an idiot nearby decides its time to bust out the macros, your notes start skipping and it becomes impossible

then mute it. if you want to listen to your favorite music on playback, you can just go on youtube instead of listening to it being butchered by a terrible soundfont in the game.

This is like people complaining about the music industry in real life.

In any case, I am truly astonished to see something like that actually bothering someone. I don’t know if I should laugh or be impressed. I think I’ll do both.

no it’s not. it’s people being annoyed that an aspect of the game is being cheapened by people who don’t want to put any effort into it, and just because it’s not something you enjoy doesn’t make it laughable, you pompous kitten . why is that so hard for people to understand. start seeing it in the context of a game rather than try to justify it with these ridiculous comparisons

and to people who try to justify it by saying “well maybe they have disabilities and lag issues”, i don’t get it. for those people there are a billion other things in the game to do rather than go afk playing a script, and there are two cheap instruments on the tp for them to try out before they spend 800 gems on a gem store instrument

Automatisation is getting more and more in real life, too. More and more jobs will get obsolete.

yes what a GREAT comparison, genius, because it’s not like this is a game. let’s make leveling automated too. let’s all just quit wvw and have bots fight each other

Waaaay too much drama over nothing…This will obviously be fixed, although as the only gameplay issue that causes is the HoM stone crush it might take a while…Still people who didn’t earn those titles will have them removed, nobody can access the HoM so no skins/pets e.t.c, and the AP will be probably removed…
Asking for rollbacks for just a bunch of titles?Seriously?Or asking to ban people for having a bug proc on their account? And all that over a “vanity” issue? That’s the definition of an overkill…

you do realize that ‘vanity title’ you’re brushing off is literally thousands of hours of work right

Musical Harp will unequip itself?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eugenics.2561

eugenics.2561

lol kitten that, the unequipping is perfectly reasonable since there’s already a lot of people who start a list of scripts and go afk in the mists hoping for donations. removing that timer would be ludicrous. people would just never stop

you’re being way nicer than i deserve after wording my posts so agressively. sorry.

i still disagree with just about any of the posts in this thread though. if anything i think they’ve accommodated the people who want automation enough by allowing macros and should start focusing on ways to make manual play enticing again, since it’s such a unique social thing in the game, i find. i’ve met some insanely talented musicians through Musician’s Guild of Tyria, Cmaj and Musical Necromancy making stuff way beyond what should be possible with the system, and i can’t even imagine what they could do with a more intuitive interface

i really don’t get the point of it. you can listen to songs anywhere else, why should anet go through all this trouble just to let you auto-play a music piece? if you’re so desperate to listen to your favorite songs being butchered by terrible sound fonts there are millions of remixes on youtube. at least that way you won’t be pestering other people when you go afk in LA or DR

maybe you’re just misunderstanding the word, but what makes you say it isn’t diplomatic? it seems to me that – if it were possible, which I’m guessing it isn’t – it would finally kill the discussion. seems to me that would be beneficial to everyone

let’s not start discussing why people are for/against macros. it’ll just end with mudslinging again

slightly related: caerphoto suggested on the GW2 subreddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2nctvb/now_that_arenanet_has_given_the_ok_to_macros_for/cmdg1e6) that people who use macros for the musical instruments have an icon over their head, kind of like you do with the frame drum if you use the premade loops. how do people feel about this? I personally think it’s a great idea and diplomatic solution to the macro/anti-macro argument.

I don’t know if it’s possible to do something like that in real time though

I currently do not use macros to play songs on my in-game instruments, because I thought that was a bannable offense. Please let me know if it’s allowed, because if it is, I will probably do it a lot more often (to get use out of my purchases, not to be petty and ask for in game donations), and I will probably purchase more instruments as well.

god. the ingame music is one of the last things i still think is fun. the day they start actively allowing those bullkitten scripts is the day i quit.

also lol at the person saying that thr abc system gave room for any creativity whatsoever,. in all the years i played lotro i never heard anyone play a song that wasn’t a tired transcription (i bet you didn’t either). that’s about as creative as painting by numbers
