The latter is to keep the players in the game and restricting a good portion of your playerbase from the only decent rewards is a terrible plan

And that, right there is the difference; I’d have preferred to have experienced the halloween stuff I missed, but it’s OK to me that I missed it… you’re lamenting the fact that you aren’t being given shinnies.

“Rewards” are subjective.

I’m lamenting the fact that it would take me -weeks- to get a few flipping items that you were handed just for being at a specific place and time

Again! I’ve played the game since the kitten beta weekends and i can’t get cool things because cool things are for lucky people

IM pissed that i missed out on that because i had the audacity to, you know, SLEEP

Chill. The. Kitten. Out.

The harpoon that dropped for me wouldn’t have taken -weeks-. Hate to spoil your world view here, but we’re not all walking around with Twilight as a result of this one event. Hate to break this to you too; it wasn’t handed to people. People spent three or four hours of their time playing a game to get an item at the end. Like instances. Like sPvP. Like most things in most games.

The fact that it only happened once is your complaint. Leave the mechanics out of it, you’re confusing the issue.

Hope you had a good night of sleep though. Sleep is important to the rational and emotional well being of a person.

Heaven forbid you get too little sleep and start ranting and raging on the internet over a game.

Chill? Really? You’re the one who was doing the personal attacks up until now
And who, you know, -continues- to do the personal attacks
I had no idea me wanting video game items hurts your feelings so much.

I’ll send you my harpoon later.

Is that what you need to feel better?

No, it’s not

I’d feel a lot better if you’d stop insulting me, though

Then it shouldn’t bother you. Seriously. It’s a game.

If it’s not fun don’t play it. If you don’t like the one time events, don’t play the game. Find something you like that does everything you want. Why play something you’re just annoyed at that just keeps annoying you?

This made me sad while reading it, because Guild Wars 2 is such a really great game. I really love it. But this event has gave me the most frustrating and disappointing experience I ever had in GW2. I hate to think of it, but I couldn’t do anything, because that’s how it already made me feel. I don’t want to stop playing this game though, as long as it won’t constantly gimme this kind of feeling and impression.

Oh my gosh thank you
This! So much this.

I agree with OP. You can’t even get the karka shell earring anymore. Sorry I’m not a NEET, Anet. One time events are for the NEET crowd.

The only people saying this are the ones who got the obscenely expensive loot

And yes if this isn’t fixed i’m pretty friggin done with this game

Been playing since the first one and i liked leveling from 1-80, but the endgame content and balance is so much worse it feels like it was made by a completely different company

Hate to be the one to break this to you friendo, but you don’t have hundreds of thousands of friends… and if you did, you’d never manage to pull of your seemingly magnificent feat of organisational prowess you clearly have when organising a trip to the local cinema with the lads.

These aren’t comparable. Anet can’t manipulate time.

But hey man, who am I to have an opinion, right? I mean your opinion is much more important than mine as you used all that angry language and poured in n unhealthy dose of negativity. I only missed the halloween event, and the first day of this event because of real-life commitments… selfish would have been demanding Anet to fit this around my time-table.

Yes, because those events had very worthwhile rewards such as a ten second cinematic

And no, “real life” events are not the same as ~vidya gayme~ events

I just wish people would stop with saying everyone who was able to loot the chest got minimum 30 gold worth of stuff or more… I sure didn’t. I got the 20 slot bag, the accessory that will wait another 35 levels for me to be able to use it, and a couple of yellow items that aren’t even as good as the masterwork armour I already use….

The 20 slot bag and unique accessory are worth at least 30 alone, actually

Though level 80s got higher level equipment, which is pretty awful for a one-time event where not -everybody- is there yet

Okay, clarifying, the GUARANTEED ITEMS, the 20 slot bag and the karka accessory, cost over 30 gold to purchase

And for the 20 slot bag you’re just making an equivalent, there’s no way to get the actual thing now

Okay, sure, but why on -earth- should those one-time events have guaranteed rewards worth ~30 gold and possible rewards worth up to 200 :T

You guys are blowing those rewards way out of proportion. Very few people got those rewards. No one in my group got anything worth more than 20 silver. They were definitely not guaranteed.

That event should have had them guaranteed though. It took way too long. I find it hilarious people are complaining they missed it. The people who did the event are complaining they were in it.

Uh, 20 slot bags are 12 gold and the karka necklace requires 1000 karka shells, each of which are 2 silver on the trading post

Which is not to mention the exotics and chances at precursors

Not guaranteed. Dying at the wrong time and having to WP caused the chest not to be there. Same for those getting disconnected.

But back on topic. Please, if it is not possible to arrange having things happen several times for all to have a chance to be involved (every 6 hours), at least schedule them for the weekend, not early Monday morning.

Guaranteed if you get the chest, yeah

That was handled pretty badly, too, surprising no one

I’m fine with one-time events. In fact I’d like to see more of them. I know it sucks if you can’t make it, but that’s life…

For some reason I doubt you’d have the same opinion if the event started at 5am GMT on a Monday.

Only you don’t know my circumstances, and you’re wrong.

The reality is there is no perfect time for everyone to do this stuff… so the choice becomes NEVER do this stuff, or do this stuff and accept that not everyone will be able to take part.

One-time events are preferable to never seeing the world change.

“Half of the complaints are coming from people who didn’t get a pre-cursor and are feeling butthurt. Remove them from the loot tables.”

That was included in my original post. And I agree, they shouldn’t.

Half of the complaints are coming from the many, many people who didn’t get -anything- because they missed it by a few hours or, worse yet, were disconnected during the event

Rellik and Asum, you put that into words a lot better than i could have

I’ve also been playing since the beta tests, and while i’ve had some fun getting my exotic gear, i’ve also wanted to work towards something cool and rare—not even a legendary, like, maybe a named exotic or an endless tonic

In the period of time the game’s been out, i’ve completed dungeons and farmed plinx and, above all, actually friggin played! And now, missing this one event puts me so far behind everyone else i might as well not even try :T

Not to mention that my client crashes enough that i can’t even play the new dungeon! My usual group is at level 14 and I’m at FOUR, so when it’s finally fixed and i want to play the -most rewarding content- with them, i have to drag them down to my level just because i have client issues

My usual group has gotten so far ahead of me that i dont feel that i’ll be able to catch up

I really wanted to like this dungeon, but the obnoxious and frequent instakills, lack of fixes, and the elitism that the fractal levels are spawning is really killing anything good i had to say about it
