….and the fact that I get the same quality of loots and experience from killing skilled Players as killing Risens in Cursed Shore, that doesn’t help at all.
One guaranteed Badge of Honor per Player Kill, full stop.
On non-peak times it takes me 20 kills just to get ONE Badge, its outrageous and outright illogical.
Obviously I’m not the first person to come up with this suggestion, in fact, it’s a well popular suggestion among players. And to think that WvW still is….very very very poorly rewarding.
Anyway, will not be going around the forums inciting riots, just a suggestion of a very much needed improvement. Thank you Anet!
And they’re on holiday until Monday, it was announced, so I don’t think you can expect anything before maybe…Tuesday?
1. ANET create a game.
2. people farm item.
3. ANET doesn’t like people farm item. they say people playing their game the wrong way, so they nerfed farming.
4. ANET create a gearing system that require so many T6 mats, and hence require farming.
5. but but…. go to 2.
The way you put it….Oh the sheer irony!
We’re very excited about the new content, and from the reactions we have seen, so are many of you.
Naw, I’m just keeping a blind eye and moving on with life.
LFM FOTM Level21312049321.
I too was excited about the ‘Improved Champion Loot’, but then, it was meh, really meh.
Revolution, Guild Wars 2 was advertised as a ‘different kind’ of MMO, promising no ‘Holy Trinity’ and ‘No Grind’.
But unfortunately, the overall system IS a typical MMO.
And the solution on keeping promises? They obviously suppressed the ability to spec to a full healer or tanker, and now they suppressed ‘profitable’ farming areas.
Their overall way on keeping their promise has been very forceful, e.g. Leaving people no other choice but to do what ‘they were meant to do’.
Then comes the Lost Shore, agreeably half-baked’ as the last poster said, it didn’t tell us ‘what we were meant to do’ except FotM, and now a lot of us ’don’t know what to do’. And all hell breaks lose, along with the Ascended hell.
Sorry to sound poetic, but well I hope you get what I mean.
No problem now, apparently it linked to page 2 BEFORE there was even a page 2. ight want to check on that, Moderators.
I am now 100% convinced that those in charge at ArenaNet are detached from the needs and desires of their player base. Not only was the new Lost Shores level 80 zone quite boring during the past weekend event, what it left behind is also half-backed. The zone has no dungeon to offer and no large scale meta event (e.g. Claw of Jormag) cycling every three hours. As a result of these missing bits (very important bits) it feels half-baked. Perhaps a desperate attempt to put something out to stop the hemorrhaging loss of player log-ins each week and declining new account sales.
It’s actually quite frustrating seeing half-baked new content arrive when foundation bits are still missing. For example, try to go find a group to level 1 Fractal dungeon now. You’ll be waiting some time on many servers (if you can find one at all). The player base has been requesting a cross-server LFG tool for a while now. Had that critical feature been in place prior to Fractals arriving it would have added great value. As it stands now the new dungeon is just frustrating because players can’t even find a group.
It’s this sort of thing that tells me the staff at ArenaNet are chasing their tail. They don’t have a clear vision anymore, they desperate to find things they can do in short time windows to try and save their game. Unfortunately for them it won’t work. I’m not trying to be negative. What I see is quite easy (and disappointing) for anyone to see if you really look at the data.
I still think Anet had an AMAZING game going at the start, and up til Mad King, GW2 was really really fun. Mad King was a freaking troll!
Then something happened during/on the Lost Shore development. And in one weekend, everything fell out of favor, literally everything.
Actually, I’m pretty curious about ‘the thing that happened’, aren’t you?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/PvE-Areas-Abandoned/page/2#content
Maybe it’s just me, but can you see anything on page 2? Thanks.
Cant help but think they introduced the new dungeon about a year to soon and have thus ruined the higher level pve areas by rendering them desolate places only those seeking to finish the storyline will venture, maybe they should hold off on adding more ascended gear into the game unitll they figure out how to make the none fotm parts viable again for those who dont care for ascended gear.
Contrary to popular speculations, I don’t think FotM ‘robbed the business’ off Cursed Shore.
I believe that the Developers tipped off the balance on Cursed Shore, making it severely unpopular and unrewarding. And on top of that, did not introduce any viable reason to migrate to Southsun. And for Casual Level80 PvEers like me who doesn’t have a full hour(or more) of dedicated time and patience for dungeons, I’m currently lost and confused about what I should do.
Orr is still profitable for me, I found a group of maybe 10 people farming last night. People might come back after Fractals dies down a bit.
I found a group of 2 at pent, and we didn’t have enough firepower on Champ Abom next to Caer Shadowfain, so he stayed there for 5-6 hours, thus eliminating Plinx altogether. Broodmom and Arena Champ was also there for as long.
Arah chain was bugged, Anchorage can’t be uncontested. Grenth….was silent. Melandru was well, pretty unpopular as usual.
On shiny days, there would be a party or two on Plinx, but after one round, it disbanded, who can really wait 30 freaking minutes for another round of Plinx, seriously.
I may be getting some people back there by giving away an abyss dye for an armorless marathon. The person who makes it to the end the quickest from point A to B gets an abyss dye.
more to come on this later
Hahaha very kind of you, but it’s not a permanent solution, unless you’re making it daily :o
And Southsun Cove was supposed to be the ‘successor’ of Cursed Shore (with the enemy difficulty going up a notch)
But now what? Theres hardly any events around. Hardly anything to do than wandering around aimlessly looking for ores and killing stray enemies.
I haven’t noticed any change in the PvE areas. I was in Orr yesterday. It was bleak and unpleasant. Did a few events, harvested some nodes… Same as it ever was.
@Jeremy
There’s nothing in your story quest that takes more than 5 people. But you all should look to merge with a bigger/more active guild, as your friends/guild really make or break a game like this.I don’t know how long we as a community will have hunger for the mats to make exotic gear. We’re all out of things to buy with karma, unless you’re doing legendary. So yeah, it won’t last forever. But it’s really not changed, cept Plinxx
In my opinion, Plinx, Pent and Farming problems are much more serious than that. They killed Casual ‘Endgame’ Farming. And now I have to drag myself through an hour of Dungeon for something decent.
Couldn’t you joke around, chat and have a good time in LA while running FotM just like you did in Cursed Shore?
I understand it’s frustrating that we’re limited to only running FotM for ascended gear but is it really worse than running Plinx for the best gold income? If nothing else FotM does seem to be quite rewarding in terms of gold and I couldn’t possibly fathom how running Plinx could be more fun.
That said, we definitely need new options in terms of endgame PvE content which I’m hoping will happen sooner rather than later. But somehow I doubt that bringing Plinx back would be a good step forward for the game…
Yes I do dungeons occasionally, and it’s a nice rewarding place, but dungeons in general, are very mentally (and time) draining, usually taking around an hour AND full concentration.
Cursed Shore was a wonder for people who only had 15-30 minutes of time or patience, and you could just leave a group when you ’don’t feel like it’, no pressure and no one will call you a jerk. Imagine doing that in a Dungeon.
p.s. Plinx wasn’t fun, the community that ran with it was.
I guess you would only be worried about level 80 areas if you only play your level 80 characters, but let me tell you that running a character up to level 80 is the loneliest experience I’ve ever had in an MMO. Doing events by yourself and running through empty landscapes… Wow. Where were the incentives to make people go back to the beginning areas?
Lol yea, I can imagine the rest of the map being far worse than level80 areas.
Well I wouldn’t doubt it. From my experience of straits/malchor area (haven’t tried Cursed yet), I don’t blame them. All of the Orr zones are frustrating, and with nothing worthwhile to do there, people aren’t going to be staying there. I know I won’t, once I finish the maps (unless its changed by then). Also, probably some people might go back there once FotM has lost its newness.
Cursed Shore was very much different from the other two I guarantee you, definitely less gloomier and depressing than Malchor’s Leap, and definitely more rewarding than Straits, and that was where most of the communities of level 80s would be, farming and joking around.
Southsun did not live up to it’s hype, and Cursed Shore is now 80% empty.
I’m sorry if I offend you Anet, but nerfing Plinx and Pent while not giving us any other alternatives, was not very thoughtful.
I am by no means a casual, but I’m not someone who would usually spend a whole hour or more on dungeons such as FotM.
I used to log in at Cursed Shore for 15-30 minutes, do a few rounds of Plinx, laugh around with the crowds, have an idle chat with the lovely community in the Map chat, and log off.
Cursed Shore wasn’t just a farming spot, it has became a ‘Community’ of sorts, with people running around, chatting, helping each other when they see someone i trouble. Now, it’s probably 80% less crowd than it used to be.
And sorry to say, I thought Southsun had a lot of potential if it ‘fully opened’, but for now, it’s a lame place with a few wandering players.
I don’t know if everyone quit GW2, or Cursed Shore is not a viable farming area anymore, what I know is, the community ingame is pretty much fragmented now, each doing their own thing, wandering around.
Remember to eat, and don’t force it. GW2 had yet a death directly involving it, and I don’t think that’s a nice record to break!
The only thing that bugged me with Gem Store is they are not ‘selling everything’, instead for example, like some things from the Consortium Chest, you will have specifically gamble real gems to get it, no other way. At least you could get free keys for BL chests.
And that Chainsaw pet from Halloween? I’ll have to burn 500 gems in the forge for it, which in the end, got me pretty uninterested with the whole pet collection thingy.
It was the best login screen I have ever seen! Just look at it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtcwJWn9MnE
It is amazing!
C’mon bring it back!
OH-MY-GOD, I NEED THIS. It makes me feel like I’m logging in to embark on an epic journey! The current one doesn’t.
(edited by francisling.2987)
Totally unrelated, but Hahahahahaha Silverbride you have a great sense of humor!
So, it seems like there’s no decent Ascendeds on +Healing. Did the Devs forget it?
It’s a big deal for me as a dedicated healer. And I can’t seem to upgrade my wares to Ascendeds now, pretty left out=D
Sounds like you’ve spent a great deal of time making these updates.
Can’t wait to get in to my mf gear. My party will suffer for it but at least i will get nice loot. This is exactly why Magic Find needs to be fixed. Because, honestly, who isn’t thinking “Oh, if I’m going to do the dungeons… I should get the best drops possible.”
lolol Rejam was funny! I hope he isn’t serious about it!
MF is a selfish stat, no one can deny that.
Think about it this way, you are sacrificing overall group efficiency/survivability for better loot for yourself, just yourself.
And the fact that, at times that one-man standing could mean a big difference to the entire party.
And you listen to those typical players who brags about their ability to solo a dungeon?
Personally I think, this is not a game to be ‘solo-ed’, and like most typical MMO, it’s meant to be ‘teamworked’. And that’s the fun aspect of an MMO.
GW2 has given up it’s GW1 roots, and theres people who likes it, people who can accept it and carry on, and people who outright hates it.
But well, gotta move on with life.
Honestly, I do not trust third party sites, and I am shocked to even see ANET stickying it. Does that mean they endorse it, and are responsible?
Yeah, and a LFG systems for farming, dungeons, or even just exploring from in-game would be much much flexible.
p.s. A lot of people plays gw2 on full screen and hates to minimize and alternate through their web browser. Just kills the ‘virtual reality’ experience!
AC 2 (Detha) is also consistently bugged with a brick wall progress stopper: if you don’t kill the breeder in the spike trap room on the first try, you are hosed and just wasted X amount of time. Detha will not start the turret repair sequence if you fail to ace the Breeder encounter on the first attempt.
I just tested this out about 6 times and couldn’t get it to happen in the way you describe (let them kill Detha, then succeed the event). Could you give me some more info in the form of a PM? I haven’t heard of this one being reported before either, so I’ll alert our QA team to look into this chain.
Edit:
Also folks, I know everyone here is very passionate, but please don’t pick at each other. Let’s keep things clean and constructive.
Yep, I have encountered the same with some of the peoples around too and could not proceed when we arrive at the turret room. Myth is, if Detha comes in contact with any glob of slime baddies, she’ll be bugged.
And letting the mobs kill Detha, or even leaving her far behind and coming back doesn’t fix the problem either. Tried.

My 7th level 1 this week. Still on level 2.
I hear you, mate.
Why do you do lvl 1 over and over again? I don’t get it.
Some people are in for more challenge, not everyone is an ‘easy token’ grinder. You’re asking me to play Super Mario level 1 over again and again.
They just had the bad misfortune of building their colony on top of a very valuable resource (A big golden chest with precursors in it), much like the Na’vi in Avatar.
We’re lucky that there wasn’t some “heroic” human that switched sides to the underdog and showed the Karka how to be better at being Karka…
I think you’re talking about my Ancient Whiner, he’s wayyy out of your league man, bring an army!
Nawww, we converted Whiner minions.
Ok gg, I’m going to elect my new Champion Whiner!
Not that I don’t feel you, but technically and traditionally, Dungeons are for ‘serious’ players whose going to give 110% effort 100% of the time while inside the dungeon.
Going naked just isn’t going to show 100% whatever your reasons are. You lose a lot of stats from it, and the team suffers from low DPS, hence the other 4 person will waste more time and risk more wipe on the Dungeon.
I’m getting a bit technical here, but anyway, you might not know this, but this is a MMO community, and in every MMO community, theres a certain Do’s and Don’t, an invisible rulebook, code of conduct, whatever. It’s not a world where you can do anything you want however you want it.
p.s. Sorry if I offend anyone, but reality sucks. Sorry!
Well, we are familiar with the normal>vet>champ rank for one, but yeah it’s quite lame to make it generic.
If Champion Karka was instead named Karkan Hivemother, for example, that would make it much much more unique.
As much as hate to lay the blame, I really do, Anet came up with a severely unpopular idea, the community was already very much against it before the release, but they released it anyhow.
Now the damage is done, I doubt they can revert the whole Lost Shore, most they can do is to give out some Band-aids.
In just one weekend..All hell broke lose. I’m still pretty amazed with the feat.
3) is definitely your fault, I’m extremely sorry to say it. And you’re funny too!
delete all ur loot first, then we can talk.
Produce a constructive post, then we can continue to talk. For now though it seems you are trolling the forums negatively for a selfish disgusting reason.
Ur just a hypocrite. U will understand once ur on the same boat.
Sure call me names, since you are just a kitten hurt player that thinks of yourself more than the community or love the company even gave within this entire new content debut.
Ur just defending yourself, and It’s not like your thinking about the community when u looted 3x
I resurrected people, made a guide for people, advertised about the guide to other threads, and helped people get into the overflow servers.
Who is still thinking about themselves?
because u can’t solo the event on its own, and require more test subject.
The event is made for a group of individuals. Nobody can solo through it, and it seems you are running out of excuses.
Unlike you, I am also supporting positive ideas within this forum. Again, I ask you which one of us is still thinking about greed reasons?
ur only supporting the positive ideas because u got ur cut out of the deal. What about others that are left in a sea of sorrow. Who is the greedy one that loot it not 2, not twice, but 3 times, while the rest of us want our fair share.
I cannot believe how immature you are, honestly. The most rewarding thing I got from that event was having everyone act and function as a caring group. You are so bent kitten hurt on the drops that it is clouding your judgement. Geez
Do us all a favor and just stop posting. Your failure in reading comprehensible posts made by the community shows in your attack toward the community.
No you do us a favor and read the posts by the rest of the community. Tell us who is right when the 95% are calling for head vs the 5% that took advantage of it.
I loled at the numbers he’s giving. I really loled.
What is that ‘do the right thing’ up on the title?
I think murdering my boss for the stickynotes of things-to-do he puts on my table everyday is the ‘right thing to do’. Should I do it?
I did the event twice, from start til end. 5-6 hours in total.
Are you going to pay back my 3 hours of legit (and painfully long) questing?
In my book they should let healing power scale better but change it so the it doesn’t buff heals you cast but heals you receive. This way the stat would be more effective but at the same time you would not be able to create a healer or to force certain professions into that role.
Anet is against ‘Holy Trinity’. But there’s significant numbers of people who wants to play different roles, being a healer isn’t a chore and I’m not being forced into it, I love it.
I also loved to heal in other games, but that isn’t important. It’s a sad fact that as soon as there is a dedicated healer profession – or something you could turn into anything like that – people will get forced to play that role, no matter if they want to or not. This phenomenon is called metagame.
If the would change the system the way I suggested you would still be able to play something like a healer but since your effectiveness is not defined by you but by your party members you won’t have to have any specific stats, you could play the “healer” with any items you want.
Apparently Anet made a lot of promises when they tried to sell the game, and one was ‘no gear grind’, and one was ‘no holy trinity’. And so, healers are being treated like a gay community around here, we have to keep quiet and be satisfied with what we got, or else we’ll be witchhunted and burned.
You know that ‘western’ MMOs usually tones down on the effects?
I played this korean MMO that has a healer cast a heal, the whole nine yard was blasted with a gigantic circular rune, and you can see an animated outline of an angel spreading her wing above the healer….and BAM……..somewhat ‘meh’-ing heal.
Is that what you’re looking for?XD
My 7th level 1 this week. Still on level 2.
I hear you, mate.

I am a dedicated healer/group support, and yea, Anet suppressed my abilities to heal really bad, but in a dungeon, my heals spread out on 4 others, and on countless occasions, saved us from total wipes.
But anyway, yeah, it’s pretty meh if you go +heal equipments at all if you’re just healing yourself, it won’t guarantee survivability against those freaking champs that 2 hit KOs.

Guardian.
I used to play warrior/theif/mage in (Insert Name Of The Game With Bhaalspawn) and 3rd D&D. They were painfully weak though, since you divide the levels even off three classes.
And then there comes the Paladins in (Insert Name Of The Game With Recent Panda Expansion). Gosh they were like…magical pewpew warriors, all in one package!
So naturally, it was Guardian from here on.
“Cursed Shore Nerf Killed PVE”, I could say the same.
This is so kittening unfair… All who did this should get banned and get all the items they looted deleted… This is exploiting. Very clever of you to post this on the official forum
Anet left a loophole here. And not everyone is abusing the loophole knowingly.
I do agree that parking alt are quite a bit of an overkill(won’t accuse it of exploit unless official), but I have two lvl80s and I did the painfully long quest twice, start to end, for a total of around 5-6 hours.
And on the second time I was kind enough to bring people into the overflow, people who got dc’ed or bugged out in the first place, and constantly guide them all the way to the end, which made everyone’s day a lot faster. Where should I be?
OP, you’re using strong words like ‘MUST’ on EVERY point.
…..and it doesn’t look like ‘suggestions’ as implied.
Learn to differentiate between Suggestions and Threats.
Watch out what you’re saying, I took a half-day leave off work, I stayed up all night until 4am, and I kitten a lame 3 hours to complete the event.
I made sacrifices and efforts.
So what if I don’t get precursors? Not everyone that buys the lottery WINS the lottery, wake up and live with reality, it sucks.
