If they change it,not only there will be a huge backlash but the work of the people who developed the mounts would be pointless. I can’t say I agree with the fact that it shouldn’t be added something to help the ones with the problem but in the end if it can’t be done without modifying the mount ,it should be left the way it is.The majority should not suffer for a minuscule minority.I know it sounds bad…but I think is the right thing.
The exact prevalence of motion sickness is unknown, but there had been studies around the world which have reported a rate of 20-30%. Migraine is the third most common disease in the world (about 12% of the population) and such motions can be a trigger for migraine, too. Even some people who never experienced motion sickness before seem to feel unwell while riding on the raptor.
So I suppose there are a lot of players who would be unable to use the mounts when Anet doesn’t find a solution of this problem. I love the realistic animations of the raptor, too. But in my opinion the movements of the raptor should be slightly modified if nothing else helps, because I don’t think it’s good when about 20% of the players get sick from it. This is not a miniscule minority. Of course I really hope they will find a different solution of this problem.
Thank you for the cool demo, I just bought the Ultimate Edition
I was very excited about the mounts and I love the realistic movements of them. It’s great that the mounts are not just a speed-boost. The raptor race is really funny and I won second place today, yay. Sadly I got motion sickness and migraine after ran around on the raptor for 30 minutes… I really hope there will be a solution of this problem, because obviously I’m not the only one who didn’t feel well while riding on the raptor.
It’s cool that the mounts can be dyed. But I think 2 or 3 dye channels for the raptor would be better.
The Crystal Desert looks nice so far. The HoT maps had a bit too much verticality in my opinion, I don’t think every new map has to be as vertical as those maps. I didn’t have the feeling that the desert is too flat. The desert is not boring for me at all, I think it’s very atmospheric (expecially the canyon, the vegetable fields and the mine).
I didn’t like the minigame with the cook, it was too difficult for me. But as long as there will be enough other ways to get mastery points in the Crystal Desert, I don’t have a problem with such puzzles. And although I didn’t enjoy it too much, I think it’s a funny idea to throw food at the cook.
The demo was well done in my opinion and I look forward to the next demo weekend

This morning I noticed that the size of the raptor depends on the size of your character. I created a really small Asura and ran around with the small raptor for ~30 minutes. I still had symptoms of motion sickness, but I felt better than yesterday, when I used the large raptor. And I also think it would reduce my symptoms if it was possible to zoom the camera out a bit more while riding on the raptor. Do you think this might help you, too?
I had the same problem… I got migraine and I felt a bit dizzy after I ran around with the raptor for 20 minutes. And normally I don’t get motion sickness when I play GW2. Maybe I will get used to it, otherwise it would be really sad, because actually I like the realistic movements of the raptor. And it’s so much fun to ride on it.
I also tried to lower the Motion Blur Setting, but it didn’t change much for me. In my opinion the camera moves too fast when I change the direction with the raptor. I hope you will find a solution for this problem, that would be so cool!
+ The new map is amazing and it’s so much fun to explore it! I really like all of those different biomes. First I was a bit annoyed that there were only 3 waypoints on this map, but it’s possible to reach all heart quests and events by thermal tubes or gliding, so it doesn’t matter at all.
+ The heart quests are nice.
+ The events on this map are very entertaining (especially the Lava Worm, the Spirit of Nature and the Destroyer Lieutnants). It’s cool that it is possible to attack the Lava Worm this time, it was a bit boring in Ember Bay.
+ I also like the new mastery, it’s one of the best masteries in my opinion. Please add it to other maps!
+ The new pauldrons skin looks really good.
+ Two new titles!
+ As far as I know, no Firestone is hidden in the Jumping Puzzle… thank you.
+ Thank you for adding the Bloodstone Shards etc. to the material storage!
+/- The story was okay and I didn’t mind that it was so short. But I think there should have been an extra dialogue between B. and human characters. The last fight was a bit confusing for me and I didn’t know what I had to do with B.’s pets, and why.
- The volcano looked a bit strange inside and outside.
- The Lava Worm is often obstructed, which is a bit annoying.
- I don’t want to be forced to begin the story to enter a new map. PLEASE make it possible in the future to enter new maps without doing the story! I’m always so excited about the new map that I can’t concentrate on the beginning of the story.
Thank you so much for your hard work and for this amazing update!

Things that I like:
+ The new map (especially Melandru’s Refuge, Saidra’s Haven and Lakeside Bazaar) … I had a lot of fun to explore the map
+ The music of Lake Doric
+ The design of the backpack
+ Most of the events
+ I haven’t done much of the story yet, but I like it so far. I didn’t notice any bugs in the story missions yet.
+ The achievements
+ Noran’s labyrinth
+/- The heart quests are nice, but some of them fill up a bit too slowly
+/- I don’t like the human looking Minis. But the Mini Cat and the Tornado are funny
Things that I don’t like so much:
- That I’m forced to do the story before I can enter the new map for the first time
- Another Portal Scroll (I don’t know where to put all of them)
- The Point of Interest in Watchtower Cliffs. I was not able to reach this area on the map, because the Centaurs killed me instantly. Someone told me it’s possible to reach the Point of Interest with an event, so I waited for more than 15 minutes, but nothing happened. It was very boring for me. I have 100% map completion with one character now. But I feel a bit unmotivated to do it again with my other characters, because it was so annoying for me to reach this Point of Interest
- The Vista in Watcher’s Hollow is a bit difficult to reach in my opinion.
- There are not enough Waypoints on this map. Sometimes all of the Waypoints are contested at the same time.
But alltogether I’m very pleased with this update! Thank you for your hard work

+ I’m very impressed by Bitterfrost Frontier. The new zone is very atmospheric, especially the “Griffon Old Growth” with the tall trees. It was really funny to explore the map and I think I will spend a lot of time there in the next weeks. Bitterfrost Frontier and Ember Bay are my favourite maps so far! Thank you so much for your hard work!
+ I was never interested in the story missions, but this was the first time that I enjoyed the story. Aurene is so cute and it was really funny when she wanted to play hide-and-seek! And the mission where you have to collect materials for the elixir was funny, too. I had a lot of bugs in the HoT story, which was very annoying. But I didn’t notice any bugs in the story since Bloodstone Fen was released, which is a great improvement in my opinion!
+ The new Minis are adorable and I love the new title. I think it’s cool that the title matches with the Mini Chicken.
+ I like the heart quests on this map.
+ All Points of Interests and Vistas are easy to get. First I was a bit annoyed, because I thought I need to do the story in Bitterfrost Frontier with each character for map completion. But yesterday I found out that you don’t need the elixir to reach the Point of Interest in “The Bitter Cold”.
- In my opinion no one should be forced to play story missions in order to reach a new map. I’m sure there are a lot of players like me who are not interested in story missions, no matter how good they are. I’m always so excited about a new zone and I can’t wait to explore it… and I just want to go through a portal to enter a map. I want to decide myself whether I want to explore a map or do the story mission first.
- I think the beginning of the story with Aurene is a bit difficult for solo players. It took me 30 minutes to complete it.
- Bitterfrost Frontier is very large (which is good!), but there are far too few waypoints. Sometimes both waypoints are contested. I think there should have been at least three or four waypoints on this map OR the waypoints should never be contested.
